I personally was labelling an uncle stingy when I was small cos after spending several years in Germany, he came back with nothing and was making unending promises.

I grew up and found out dat My father was covering sth from us. His brother has been in prison in Germany. Everything he had was confiscated by German govt, he got deported straight from prison.

So, wen we're less informed, we can always make flawed opinions.

As for we, growing, we never reasoned like that, we only used stingy in the very sense of the word.
And the focus here is not stinginess, it's calling people irresponsible for not married at 30, no matter your immediate environment, you will definitely see different things, growing up in Nigeria.

1. When you are young, you want to grow old and be free. When you are old, you reminisce about your younger days. Such is life.

2. The fact that humans don't know about the future is paradoxical: it makes them prepare for what's ahead; and it makes them prepare wrongly.
Yeah, we are sure there's a future but we don't know what the future entails. More like trial and error because life is not linear, it is a hole full of complex interconnecting lines activated by myriads of actions, behaviors, beliefs, experiences, and backgrounds of people with different faces and motivations. The action and behaviour of one affects the whole.

3. When we were young, we see the snippet of luxuries of older people, oblivious to their pains and struggles. We are eager for that luxury and minute joy because we think that's all there is until we become adults and the scales fall off. This also happens in business and success: we see the few that made it to the top and never considered the majority that failed - survivorship bias.

4. Anyway, it would have been a different story had it been there is economic prosperity. Though being an adult comes with a lot of responsibility; to whom much is given much is expected. However, we get shocked because as we entered adulthood, with little parental guidance or support we become perplexed and paranoid; what we envisaged differs from reality.

5. That's why parental guidance is sacrosanct in the lives of every child because they must prepare the child for the future by feeding them with good wisdom and exposing them to little discomfort so that when they grow up they can be able to navigate the world.

The world is not what we think it is. It is brutal!
