With all the problems, Owomida landlout, aka Tinubu, his boys and girls, are causing in Lagos, your rent becomes insignificant when you consider that more than 4 months of your salary find its way into his bullion van.

500,000 that is my one room and parlor in Lagos, if I want to marry, I will need a two bedroom apartment, 750,000 and above. If its an estate you will need 1.2m and security fee of 120,000 per year.

That is why marriage is not easy in Lagos, except you are politic or working some oil companies or big bank/companies, paying your rent in 2 months is though, but if you can pay in less than 3 months then you can still keep up.

Abuja doesn't have any problem, u can live in Nasarawa and still work in Abuja, Majority of people working in Abuja are living in Niger and Nasarawa... But u will have to leave ur house early in order to beat traffic.
The only problem is the hold up. Living in Nasarawa and working in abuja is hell, even for people who own their own cars.
I wish they'd just create an alternate route and free up that Abuja Keffi expressway.

Lagos state govt are making a mediocre development, they just select some side for development which is the highland, they should also focus on badagry expressway, agege, iyana ipaja axis,so investors, companies, banks, malls eateries, real estates will be running towards there, with this hold up will reduce, there will be job over there, which means if u leave in a affordable house,u will still pay less for transport if u have a job in ur area

20 percent of my annual salary is my annual house rent and it's not too bad. That's little above 2months pay.

Lol its like working for landlord.
Some areas in abuja and Lagos residents can relate cheesy

This is not possible.

That is if your monthly salary is 1m, then your annual(yearly) rent is 200k?

There is no guy earning 1m monthly that is living in 200k per year apartment cheesy

Even the organization you work won't allow it.

My yealy rent is about 22% of my annual income. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment in Alimosho LGA, Lagos. The environment is decent and I look forward to becoming a landlord in the same area. All the other tenants knew somehow that I don't belong among them. Living below your means is possible sometimes but the pressure is high & I wasn't "really comfortable" either. All depends on you & your goals.

Nigeria will humble you..the cheap house you're looking for does not have vacancy in the location where you work, now what do you do? and even the pay for the job can't meet your needs 50%..the system is happening to all of us, that's just the truth.. how many jobs pay over 100k today
You made a lot of sense . Amazingly, inflation had eaten up that small take home sef. Rent too had gone up considerably cos landlords don dey para cos of high cost of living. E don reach everyone.

I say amen to that house you're hoping for. Just keep the faith alive and above all, vote wisely oo. Dem no dey tell pesin. Bigotry doesn't solve any problems and every decision we make will either make or mar us.

That's why pa jakande will always be in our minds. This wasn't the lagos template drawn by pa jakande which tinubu hijacked and edited to suit his selfish gains. By now, had the template been followed, housing in lagos would have been so affordable and available today. I say again, vote wisely.

The second option is far better. With a 100k salary, and house annual rent of 150k, monthly rent comes to 150/12= 12.5k, daily transport =2k, monthly =50k total expenses on rent & transport =12.5+50=62.5k. Balance from salary = 100-62.5=37.5k, NOTE I used 50k instead of 52k as that gives us 25 days, same as in the 2nd option which was calculated for 15000/600= 25 days. For Option 2, monthly expense from rent = 300/12=25k, transport monthly =15k total =40k, 100k less rent & transport= 60k. So, with the extreme rent of 300k per annum, it's much better in 2nd option. You would be saving 22.5k monthly. Quod erat demonstrandum

It is meant to be annual transport fair. 15k per month, replicate by 12months is about 180k per annum while 52k by 12months is about 624k. Add to the annual rent, Igbo-efon is cheaper and more economical.
