Yes, it might be lonely but however, you seem not to know what you want.

If you're in Nigeria, there are only few businesses you can do that will generate steady and good revenue for you but what about the quality of life and other basic things?

And as you're in Canada, there are things you definitely will benefit that those living in Banana Island can never benefit with their billions.

Everything in life has sacrifice and focus. Know what you want! This loneliness bla bla bla is stale. It's no more news. Stop the comparison and focus on positive things.
I'll prefer that Banana Island than living lonely in Canada where you'll spend the rest of your life paying mortgage and taxes.

Ranting is very important sometimes! As for loneliness, that's absolutely correct unless you want to mingle with other Nigerians (Be cautious of that). And as for not saving up to $20k in 3yrs, that's your personal problem. You either hustle harder or change whatever you are doing, it's not paying you well.

If the OP ready he should hit me up make we show am as e dey go for West Houston. Don’t worry you will have free accommodation. That aside, I have very bad reservations about Canada. Only those that have gone there can tell the story. Many of them cannot even afford tickets to travel within the so called Canada.

Shoot where in west Houston are you?

Canada can be very lonely. Steps to avoid loneliness:
1. Come with your partner or get married after landing. Marriage must be in your plans
2. Join oyinbo church and be active there. Join the choir and stay back after church for small talks.
3. Live in Nigerian dominated areas if you like to make naija friends. You will be invited to all their owambes
4. Encourage your siblings, cousins, nephews, friends to come either by way of study or PR.
I know people here who have so surrounded themselves with immediate and extended families that they conduct wedding for their children without needing to go to naija for the cérémony. I was really impressed. Colourful Aso-ebi and gele, amala-on-spot at the wedding. All within this Canada.

You have to décide to make Canada your home.
Correct. I run away from parties. If one engages with others there are Nigerian get togethers throughout spring to fall.

I've always made my dislike for Canada known on this forum from day one. I can understand if one has no other options of a better place to live, but Canada should be the extreme bottom of choice if you have options.

I have visited Canada lots of times and just hates it there. Too depressing, boring, freezing cold and dark. Snows everywhere like huge heap of sand, and people hardly mix.

Just get the passport and leave. But to call it your permanent home, you must be one hell of a kind of a person.

Accident and Emergency is A/E right?

Join a Nigerian church in Canada and serve there as a worker. Do some voluntary work as well. The reason your life is lonely and depressed is because you are working and living only for yourself.

You are very correct. I even heard that health care in Canada is so good that people don't even die there...they live forever and ever in Canada heaven

Ordinary emergency line is useless even if you live in Banana. Probability of you dying before your family get you to the clinic is high!

Earlier this year, I went back in time to few years back when I was doing so well in Nigeria. The noises from friends and all nurtured the decision to move abroad inside of me. I became so restless till I finally leave. The first day in Canada was the day I knew this place isn't where I can be forever. Most of us would have come back before the time we had in mind except for the fact that I don't still have enough. If I want to travel to naija for vacation now, I will need up to $4k. If I take that away from my savings, I don't know how I can recover.

No one tells about the downside of this place. I feel lonely, depressed and empty most times. Because no one to talk to, just everyone in my workplace goin about their business. If I make attempt to talk to them, they just waive it with a smile. It's been 3years here and the people I still talk to on video call are friends from Nigeria. It's been 3years and my savings is still Short of $20k despite how much my friends in Nigeria do tell me how easy it is for me to make money abroad but I never tell them my situation. I can't wait to make enough and leave Canada for good. I know a lot will come at me with the usuall "come back to Nigeria na", please this is not an attempt to denigrate your abroad heaven, just for me to rant out and be fine

I can relate with you. Everyone that moves to another country goes through this. It's normal. But it can get very unbearable if you are trying to keep the good morals we are raised with from Nigeria. Western world is so fast paced, the things we count as bad habits are considered normal here.

Just continue to be strong, one way or the other you will find a way to make and keep your peace else you will just join them and flow with the fast paced lifestyle here.

Chance or no Chance, the point is, if I can live in banana island, it means I'm rich enough to travel to any country of my choice and enjoy life there, hence my preference and to rubbish the comparison of that poster.

I work with an international organization in Nigeria. Left Canada few years back. And I will tell you now that while healthcare isn't really strong in Nigeria, you can have access to doctors, nurses and health centre easily more than you can in Canada. It's also cheap. Some people prefer to fly home for surgery because of the expense.

I'm also currently in Canada for a conference. Need I tell you I can't even wait to leave already by next week.
I currently live in Hong Kong. I got a scholarship opportunity to Canada but declined it. The loneliness, cold, heavy tax and all that, I can't deal. The truth is, those that have never travelled out of Nigeria see these places as heaven, until they learn the hard way.

No, I'm not but the probability of you being an inhabitant of Banana Island is relatively zero and wether you live there or not, you are likely to die before 60 years in Nigeria!

It's the reality y'all should face but then, many of you are ignorant and gullible to believe that your pastor will pray for long life for you, thereby enriching those con men.

The only sensible comment I've seen so far.

OP, what about Nigerian association? If u are lonely, find out the day Nigerians are meeting, and join the meeting... They usually have October first party... That is if you are interested..

In your work place, don't some of your colleagues invite you for a night out? Or are you not interested?

If you are a Christian, please join one of the church program... They usually have youth activities outside church program.. like watching the whale, boat riding etc...

Your Life is liken to a sower who went out to sow, some fell on the road side, where birds picked them up, some on stony places where they are being choked, some on good soils where they are fruitful some into hundred folds, some sixty folds..

Always put God first wherever you want to go or what you want to do and it shall be well with you.

I feel you, but my people talk say person wey wan tall, him go get long leg.

What you are experiencing is the price for the trade-off. The pros and cons of abroad life.

Way back in 1986-87, I know one brother like that, who came back home from America and say he can never stay in that kind of environment. After School, he came back home and all of us think him mad.

The reason he gave is laughable. He drinks a lot and he said he is sure that one day he is going to be shot. We asked him why, he said when he is drunk in Nigeria, he can afford to go knocking on the wrong Door for as many times as he possibly could without any fear of being shot at but he dare not do same in America. So, he came home.

So, like someone said, know why you are there, work towards it and try and come back home

You guys should stop misleading people. While you paint Canada as heaven, don't you think people need to know the downsides too?
