Am not the japa type but i have got the foreign blood, if I get there it won't take me a month to blend, to get a job, to make friends, to get a Wife or a girlfriend or may be more, even to become the next prime minister. grin but I love my shit hole country, I mean it's my country no matter where I run to. That is a fact. Abroad is for vacation only not to go live.

LoL. Left Canada permanently two years ago. I'm currently there for a conference slated to end next week and can't even wait to leave already. I do wonder why people kill themselves to be here, but I can understand

Weldone. Is it your kill they are killing themselves? You shouldn't have gone for the conference. You should have turned it down

Earlier this year, I went back in time to few years back when I was doing so well in Nigeria. The noises from friends and all nurtured the decision to move abroad inside of me. I became so restless till I finally leave. The first day in Canada was the day I knew this place isn't where I can be forever. Most of us would have come back before the time we had in mind except for the fact that I don't still have enough. If I want to travel to naija for vacation now, I will need up to $4k. If I take that away from my savings, I don't know how I can recover.

No one tells about the downside of this place. I feel lonely, depressed and empty most times. Because no one to talk to, just everyone in my workplace goin about their business. If I make attempt to talk to them, they just waive it with a smile. It's been 3years here and the people I still talk to on video call are friends from Nigeria. It's been 3years and my savings is still Short of $20k despite how much my friends in Nigeria do tell me how easy it is for me to make money abroad but I never tell them my situation. I can't wait to make enough and leave Canada for good. I know a lot will come at me with the usuall "come back to Nigeria na", please this is not an attempt to denigrate your abroad heaven, just for me to rant out and be fine
You too like to sit down with people gossip if not you for no dey get bored for abroad...pls come back to the village

The loneliness is what I want. Let me reach there and experience it. Let me be lonely and enjoy good quality of life and be useful to myself and family. Here in Nigeria, most citizens are not useful to themselves, family and society at large.

This was one the main reason I left London and jejely came back to Nigeria to double my hussle. The loneliness and subsequent depression was excruciating. I remember going on bus round London on Sundays just to cure boredom. By then there was no Internet and calling friends and family at home was very expensive. Friends and family in London have no time for themselves not to talk of you.

Nigerians make the mistake of equating material comfort for happiness, it is not. Rich people commit suicide more that people in abject poverty. In fact you hardly hear poor people commit suicide. Life is more meaningful than what you eat, drink or wear.

Believe me some people in the village live happier and more qualitative lives than people in big cities abroad. The kalahari bushman living in the desert with little to eat or drink lives a more fulfilling and purposeful life that someone in Newyork. Its all a matter of perspective.

You get the drift!

I know it is hard for black women in places with few black people, but for a black man who knows his onions and is well-paid or financially comfortable, life should not be hard. If it is too boring for someone in Canada, fly to the US to mingle with your kith. Move to seemingly functioning places in Africa to flex life. This life no too hard, people suppose to use their number 6 to navigate life.

Very well said, I recently saw this interesting video.

Get married ke? Marriage abroad no be like marriage in naija o. There you are at the mercy of women. Ordinary you look your wife anyhow, she can get you arrested. If she decides to divorce you, she keeps the house, your children and half your salary.

Relates this your medical analogy to the rural area of our life in Nigeria and tell me if Nigeria medical system is anything to write home about. Go to your village general hospital if you can see common panado. Or is the medical system in Nigeria only made for the Rich

Agbegbaorogboye:

I don't know what you mean by getting medical care immediately. There are hospitals with ambulance facilities in ikoyi and VI that people access in 15 mins or less than.

A governor had a plane crash and he was first treated in Nigeria before being flown out. Same for the president's son.

I don't know about Akeredolu being treated for malaria while he had covid. He should blame his physicians and not the Nigerian health system. Covid came with its peculiarities. Kyari got covid in Germany and not Nigeria. One wonders why they didn't detect it and give him the necessary treatment there before he left.
Buhari didn't access his favorite UK medicals for over a year during covid and nothing happened to him.
Yes. Nigerian healthcare is comatose but it is not presently as bad as you're painting it. Especially for the elites. They're just used to traveling out for medicals and are not prepared to change it anytime soon.

You still don't get it. And stop drifting away from reality. Even Buhari will likely die if he should have a heart attack! Can the National Hospital handle it? No!

Mr. Osinbajo had a surgery in a private clinic in Lagos and it was celebrated. Shame!

Go and read my first comment and digest properly, this time, slowly!

And no, I'm not glorifying the developed nations, it's just the reality.

There are emergency services in Banana Island and hospitals all over Ikoyi. Why should you be talking about places you don't live in.

I stay in Essex, outer London, I was bored but not depressed because I have things occupying my mind like my job, but I decided to go to North London today where my fellow African men are (Nigeria), had my fun and I am on my way back as I am typing. Yes Canada is lonely but common! Think!

Please, as you make plans to come back, try and buy properties.

Atleast have a House and probably a business that you can use to be holding body together.

Also if you are not planning to be a CEO, look out for Multinationals that may need your skills/experience.

I felt so frustrated this evening after joining a long queue at the filling station for more than 3 hours without still getting fuel. Nigeria is at a far worse state than it was before you left for Canada 3 years ago....The point is no system is perfect. However, I would rather opt for loneliness than the insanity that is currently prevalent in Nigeria.

BTW, the loneliness will reduce when you get married.
ya problem is poverty of the mind. who dey queue for 3 hours for petrol ? for whattttttt ? when there are millions of people selling black market fuel all over the place. me i just jejely enter black market collect 2 kegs and japa. all under 5 minutes cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

You think God made Canada so ? People pay through their nose to make their country work, a thing most of you Nigerians cannot sacrifice to have a working system....

if you see all that lekki road and victoria island ? e smooth like brand new baby yanch. any small pothole that appears is fixed within 24 hours. and all tinubu was asking for the enjoyment of these smooth roads is 200 naira toll fee when you pass from lekki to VI. this thing was vexing nigerians that during endsars they destroyed all the tolls. these people want good things but want it for free. to your point about how canada forcibly takes a quarter of your check to pay for their hospitals. thats why these nigerians get depression when they go to countries that work. because they dont like paying for anything. they want it for free. when they find out all the money is taken from their paycheck they get deression grin grin grin grin

There is no society without its frustrations except utopia. The key is learning how to survive despite frustrations. Many countries are also in a worse state that it was 3 years ago. In fact very few countries of the world is better off than it was 3 years ago. UK, US and most of the western world are facing an energy crisis. Inflation is also ripping havoc on their economies. Believe Nigeria is not the worse country in the world, we are only loud at washing our dirty linen outdoors.

oh dont mind me hun i was just trolling you lol. although i do find it egotistical when someone tries to downplay the psychotic- aberrations of a displaced citizen in a strange cold land. these are real genuine feelings. some people get depressed and kill themselves. and these things are more complex than ' finding your purpose' or you are not focused etc etc. these are spiritual problems. some peoples spirits are not just suited to the electromagnetic frequencies of western countries and they get out of balance emotionally and spiritually when they step into these environments. abroad is not for everybody.
