That said, there’s significant risk of bacterial contamination if the food is not thoroughly cooked afterwards. Many lizards carry salmonella and other bacteria with pathogenic effects in humans.

Pathogenic bacteria generally die at normal cooking temperatures, and are at least inhibited from reproducing to dangerous levels below 40F and above 140F. See this USDA article on the food safety Danger Zone. As long as you keep cooking whatever’s in the pot to the appropriate doneness, it should be safe to eat.

Should probably still fish the lizard out, though, in case anybody would be grossed out by that. Save him for later.

There's nothing more false than this report. Even the dart poison frog would struggle to achieve this feat, considering the dilution from the soup.
Wall geckos are not poisonous and they don't press anybody in their sleep, nor do they have any metaphysical capabilities.

If they're that poisonous, then half of the people in rural areas would have died of by now.
I don't know what killed the family, but I know it's not any wall gecko.

A wall gecko died inside fresh palp we soaked to wash it in the morning. Because we don't buy public palp me usually make our own.

The following morning about washing the palp we saw dead Gecko inside it. We just removed it and washed the pap thoroughly.

We enjoyed the palp and it's over 3 years now nothing has happened.

So this story no enter. They were poisoned
