It is not binding on all schools in the state as stated in the circular but on all government-owned schools in the state. Anyone going to a privately owned schools should be ready to abide by the rules of such schools. A Christian mission schools are not under any form of obligation to someone from another religion sect adore his/her religious hijab in their schools. 1 Like |

Some will just be creating confusion on religion issues, the normal code of dressing for Muslim girls is using of hijab for covering of head and bosom. For majority of Christian girls is using of beret to cover their head alone or leave it open, The Lagos State Government stated it clearly that only by choice for Muslim girls, even any Muslim girl that decided not to make use of it, such child is free. The circular didn't compelling all female students to be using hijab in the state, where's the trace of Islamization on obeying of the Supreme Court judgement by the state government. Stop being mischief-making. |

Schools should be a place where use of hijab is carefully regulated and appropriate procedures enforced . How do you check for security /impersonation when it is abused . How will teachers not be threatened when they insist on searching a girl all covered up ? Already non Muslim teachers in the North are careful and allow most Islamic people to cheat because they are afraid of lynching and killings over malpractice that can be twisted into religious mayhem . The people that cheat the most are Muslim ladies covered in Hijab . I wrote an exam where a lady was using apple earbuds under her hijab to speak with her husband for answers to exam questions . And there were a lot of them with textbooks and chips under their flowing hijab . None of the invigilators bothered with them because they didn’t want to cause religious fights and they were strict with the “others” . This ruling will cause a lot of issues . Private schools that have rights to reject admissions will target such students not because of their capabilities but because of religion . |

yinchar: If desired ? So if desired a sango worshipper should wear what they believe strong in into class ? Freedom of religion is never trampled on in schools . Have you ever heard of a school that prevents Muslim students from praying ? But organizations , schools ,save for public schools , should be exempted from such imposition . By saying ALL schools , then those schools are no longer private . Their uniform is their uniform . Abide with it or GET OUT ! I’m speaking particularly about the one that covers all of the body . |

Girls should be free to wear the hijab. Why make a mountain out of a molehill. It's as needless as that barring lawyers from wearing one as well. |

Governor Sanwo Olu should thread with caution on Lagos matter.. it is a cosmopolitan state with so many learned people who can see through any agenda. Osun state should serve as an example. All these religious wahala ko necessary if you ask me. How will you pass law to faour only one religion in a secular state like ours? Na why I dey gbadun my SS and SE folks attimes.. |

mycar: When u have pple with religious bias in government... they uphold religion at the expense of any other thing.... The problem now is that have no establish any guideline of how the hijab should be in these schools. ..... in foot ball..it only covers the head..... watch how it will become abused ....some will use hijab that reach their toes....some will no longer use the school uniform since u cant know whats underneath the hijab.... Teachers and school prefects will want to inspect....they will call it haram...blood shed in the name of jihad will start.. |

That would include Christian mission schools which are not Lagos State schools. All Lagos State schools is different from all schools in Lagos State. |

Evilblakman2: Did the Portuguese bring Christianity? Why aren't there far more catholics in the Niger Delta then? I think they set up churches there but probably had negligible converts. I doubt their purpose was to proselytize. They might have set it up for the sake of Portuguese sailors and probably other Europeans as a place of worship. Also, few natives would want nothing to do with a religion closely linked to disturbing cruelty. It would be hypocritical asking people to worship a God of love whose worshippers dehumanized people and loved material gain. False christianity has rubbish God's name for centuries and it still does. |
