2 Goals for Oshoala!!!

Happy for her. It appears she has a challenge with one on one situations she's missed 2 of those chances in the first half. Hoping she works on this.

For me she missed one and the keeper saved the other. I hid my face after that first miss, it was so bad. The second i can live with cos she stung the keepers gloves.
But what really annoyed me was the fact that she had zero goal scoring opportunity in the second half and her team had alot of the ball. That says alot about that team and this is the reason Barcelona should not going to be favourites in the UWCL. They are motivated by seeing a Spanish player on top and not winning.

If Ada was on a hattrick in Lyon I would bet my last dollar she would score said hattrick.

I totally agree with your submission. Oshoala not getting goal scoring chances isn't surprising really (can be annoying like you opined), but I also think it isn't peculiar to her. Geyse also experiences the same though she tends to experience it less.

You'll notice Oshoala is trying to adapt by sometimes dropping deep and going wide. It's largely to ensure she's also a part of the play. It can be frustrating if you are on the pitch for a long time and hardly ever touch the ball.

But like I said, they aren't doing it because it's Oshoala (even though I concede she gets less of the ball than Geyse), I think it's a Barcelona thing. Their strength is that anybody can score, so they'll rather move the ball around, sometimes purposelessly till they can score goals. They top 9s are somewhat there as a distraction.

Their strength is also their weakness cause I believe it will bite them when they meet a very good team, or when it matters most. It's the reason they lost to a very compact Bayern in the second leg. A careful look at thier goal stats for the season will show this. Barcelona has 13 more goals than the second placed team Levante, yet none of their players is currently in the top 10. Also, 4 of their top scorers have 5 goals, 3 are Wingers/Midfielders.

That's the perfect way to build a team, if you ask me. A team should shouldn't be built around one goal scorer for efficiency purpose. One injury to your top scorer, them the whole team goes bust and start struggling for goals. If you doubt me, ask PSG who lost Katoto. Even Lyon are not in their best in terms of scoring goals with Ada out injured as well as some of their goal scorers.

Barca on the other hand lost 3 players that could give them at least 50 goals a season among them even in their worst form (Putellas, Lieke Martens and Hermoso) last season, yet they haven't slowed down or gotten affected in terms of scoring goal. Infact with yesterday's results they set another UWCL goal record last night by scoring the highest goals in the group stage.

As good as other teams are, they can't loose those three calibre of players in their team and not get rattled. Putellas alone had over 35goals last season.

This Barca femeni team is like Pep's Man city, they will always score shit load of goals, with or without a top CF like Halaand or Aguero..The team is simply built to be self sustaining.

Concerning Asisat, she gets enough chances every game to at least be on 15 goals at this stage of the season. But she's been wastful. Last night alone, an Oshoala of last season would be on hat trick before 40 minutes with all the chances she got. She missed before she had her two goals, as well as after.

Some strikers in other teams don't have the benefits of having the type of support she has at Barca and they are outscoring her.

please let's leave conspiracy theory for now and hope Asisat gets back her form.

You’re on point man.. Asisat major problem is converting chances, you don’t expect your teammates to keep creating when at the end you don’t convert them.

If Asisat can convert 60/70% of those chances she gets I bet you she would definitely be rated higher than she’s right now..

Just Score the goals, her 1V1 with goalkeepers is another problem, let her work on that..

You'll notice my comment was to correct the impression that Asisat not "getting enough chances" was peculiar to her. I tried to establish it is largely because of the way Barcelona plays. I also mentioned that their style of play was as much strength as it is a weakness.

While I love how they play, I think it could become a problem when they play a more disciplined and compact team. It's likely going to be their Achilles heel further into the champions League.

I also agree Asisat needs to improve her conversion rate, someone humourously said she's likely to score more difficult goals than she would easy/one on one goal. I really do hope she improves.

I can understand the talent in the squad but when u see ur teammate who has been struggling for form get so close to an hattrick, u should help her get it. Honestly u should always help ur teammate whenever they are on a hattrick form or not.

At this point, you people are asking for her to be babysitted. After setting her up for clean 1v1 twice after her two goals, what more does she want?

Bro, let's leave conspiracy out of this abeg. It's not as if the coach hooked her off at half time
She was there for like 80minutes.

Someone struggling for form had like 2 goals, and you are still waiting for hat trick.

That lady worked her F@cking azz off yesterday. Who cares about a couple missed opportunities when she put in a complete shift. What u are advocating for is complete wickedness. If Messi can pass players the ball even after they miss I don't want to hear anything from any scrub.

If Ada was scoring every chance she got common sense would tell u that she would score at least 100 goals a match.

In fact show me one male player that scores even half of his chances? Why must the case be different for Asisat Oshoala

If Ada was scoring every chance she got common sense would tell u that she would score at least 100 goals a match.

In fact show me one male player that scores even half of his chances? Why must the case be different for Asisat Oshoala

Unfortunately, she'll never get what you are suggesting at Barca. Even if Asisat was Ronaldo, they won't do a Man UTD and change their style to all ball to Ronaldo/Asisat style of play.

Any body in the best position in and around the box will always score in Barca system. That's why they are so difficult to defend against. No particular person to Mark out in that team. Every midfielder/defender/foward is both a potential creator and/or a goalscorer.

I said Messi passes to his struggling teammates but u want to switch to Ronaldo. Fine.

First of all Manchester players didn’t pass to Ronaldo all the time. There are numerous highlights that show him not getting the ball even when he was in great positions.

Secondly any team that has togetherness will want to see a teammate shine. It doesn't matter if it is Oshoala or Ivan Toney for Brentford. A good teammate wants u to shine.

Barcelona is just like the Spanish men's team. When push comes to shove all that anybody can score will be null and void. U need players who can force the issue.

ASISAT OSHOALA makes the Guardian's 100 Best Female Footballers in the World for a record SIXTH consecutive year.

••• The African POTY comes in at No. 38 in the 2022 top 100.
••• Despite being out injured for part of the 2021/22 season, Oshoala managed to:

••• Win the Spanish LEAGUE and CUP double

••• Reach a second successive CHAMPS LEAGUE FINAL
••• Become the FIRST AFRICAN to win the ‘Pichichi’ (top-scorer) Award in the Women's La Liga.

[And with that, chances are high that Oshoala will be the sole African that makes the 2022 Top 100.]

on Saturday, the Top 10 will be unveiled..

It's undoubtedly her era and a hell of a long one at that.. Hope injuries can keep off and more and more players from the continent can join her in playing at the highest level of club football.

Mercy Idoko, Yetunde Aluko inspire Hapoel Katamon to victory over Ramat Hasharon

Nigeria internationals Mercy Idoko and Yetunde Aluko were on target as Israeli women’s league side Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem defeated Ramat Hasharon 3-1 in match week ten fixture on Thursday.
Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem had to come back from a goal down to earn a deserved victory at the Ramat Hasharon Syntetic.
Zimbabwean forward Msipa Immaculate gave Ramat Hasharon an early lead in the seventh minute.
The lead lingered till the half-time break but Zohar Kaminski half time team talks for Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem was effective as the team came out in a resurgent form in the second half.
The response wasn’t immediate as the visitors had to wait till after the hour mark to find a deserved equaliser through Aluko in the 61st minute before her compatriot, Idoko gave the visitors the lead five minutes later.
Feliciano Flavia Giovana struck late to guarantee the victory inside the injury time.
While Aluko opened her goal account on the night, having lasted the duration, Idoko was replaced by Adi Binyamin in the 92nd minute, has now scored two league goals for Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem this season.
Kaminski side seats in the second position on the log with 20 points after ten games.

Oshoala is the only African there. Kudos to her.

Hopefully, Ajibade joins her very soon. A move from Atletico Madrid will definitely go a long way.
