Dude, Faber's initial response was him throwing down a challenge. You do that on NL, you expect a clapback 9/10 times.

Faber had the choice to be respectful and polite in his retort, but chose not to. Apparently, because he had an issue with Cave's choice of words and what could be construed as an attack against a belief system he aligns with.

Now, I know we tend to expect folks here to defuse tense situations rather than amplify them. And on this count, yes Cave could have ignored, sidestepped, or responded to the meat of the argument rather than make personal swipes. But he is under no obligation to do that if the other party deliberately attacked him.

This was not a stray bullet. It was a sniper hit.

There is no bothsidesing here. Faber knew exactly what he was doing. It was deliberate instigation. And I gather he has no regrets. That happens on the regular here.

When I threw this open for deliberation I wanted to read as many varied viewpoints as possible. Don't want anyone to walk on eggshells on this topic. And there have been several wonderful and informative responses. It is perhaps inevitable that it'd become charged at some point, but I don't want this altercation to cast a dark shadow on the exchange of ideas.

I do agree that most of the Arab nations are more developed but not necessarily better than African countries.
