Re: Gbajabiamila Deceived Us To Call Off Strike ― ASUU by Tikobanidi: 11:12am On Dec 28, 2022
He said that based on the Speaker’s intervention then, ASUU suspended the strike with the hope that the Speaker’s words would be matched with action.[/b]

Honestly, I do not believe that Prof Osodeke, ASUU National Preaident, actually said the quote above because he can not lie so brazenly that it was Hon. Gbaja that persuaded ASUU to call of strike when the whole world can still recall that it was the Industrial Court and later the Appeal Court that upheld the judgement FG got against ASUU to resume duties that compelled ASUU to go back to classes.

Gbaja offered to help but he is not powerful enough to become the whole legislature nor is he the Executive that dragged ASUU to NIC nor is Gbaja the Judiciary that directed ASUU to go back to classes. He had good intentions but the case was already in court.

As we type, ASUU has not even challenged the no work no pay rule in court and FG has used this as a basis not to pay ASUU and other university unions for all the period they were not at work.

If it is true that Prof made this false accusation then it is really sad. As things stand, it is apparent that the FG team is more brilliant and strategic than the ASUU team. This attempt by Prof to misrepresent the facts is not good at all.

The reality is that the era of a united nationwide university academic staff association is gone.

FreeStuffsNG, thump up for you. It's people like you that makes me to remain on this platform. I cherish people that base their judgement on facts and figures rather than sentiment.

You're one of the reasons buhari called youths lazy. You even mentioned equipping of library with ASUU half salary. With this alone, I conclude you didn't know Jack, on why they embarked on that strike in the first place. Students welfare contributed over 60% of the reason they went on strike, including the equipping of the library you ignorantly mentioned.

If you were owed piled upn arrears in your workplace and.your employer keeps saying he'd fulfill his promise and years later, the situation remained same, what wouid you do to get your owed salary? Be sincere. That's what ASUU had done. It's not only the failed government of the day, which you're defending that were culpable in the reneged promises, past pdp governments, some of whom are now members of the apc today also caused the mess. That's why we're sending both parties off next year Feb. They've done Nigeria to many bad than good. That over 100bn stolen by that accountant-general alone could have gone some way in addressing part of the ASUU demands. Na so so corruption this government sabi. They're not interested in the Nigerian future.
No need for all this your nonsense long story.

ASUU went on strike because they wanted 180% increment in their salaries.

Their strike was totally for their own selfish interest.

If you believed otherwise, or you believe ASUU when they mention all those university revitalization and IPPIS matters, then you need your sense of reasoning to be checked.

No work no pay is a policy by federal govt....its not law.Labour laws are similar all around d world...its one of d fruits of democracy. If an industrial action is called, the workers get paid for time on strike.

Keep to what you know.

They are different types and composition that makes up law.

That matter has been declared by the appeal court...if left unchallenged at the supreme Court it becomes a subsist reference of law.

As soon as the apex court decides on the matter or any matter like that...it becomes law.

NB: the court can void any National Assembly law but National Assembly cannot deliberate on any court matters
Tank God u said appeal court.... meaning there is still one step to challenge dat verdict.

How were they owed 8 months salaries?

Is it the 8 months they didn't work?

If they are paid for that 8 months they didn't work, what then is their sacrifice?

So it is only the students that should suffer the strike?

No work no pay should be enforced so when any union wants to go on strike, it should be really necessary. Not that when they are tired of going to work, they will just wake up and proceed on strike with one flimsy excuse.

And if the strike is very necessary, I'm sure the public will prevail on the govt to pay full salary after resolution and the govt is found wanting.

Though in my opinion, the govt should give them half of their salary and use the rest to equip university libraries.
Dont mind them nobody in the world gets paid for going on strike ..Nobody

It's a shame that Buharii cannot sit down one on one with ASUU to resolve the issues permanently. It shows there's no leadership in Nigeria.

Can you work when you are owed ?

If your father goes to work month to month and come back home to tell your mother stories will you be able to have the dead education you have today ?
were they owed prior to the strike? It seems you don’t really understand the meaning of “owing”. You employed someone in your poultry farm. He start complaining about the working condition and the situation of the poultry. You made it known to him that you can’t afford to renovate the poultry due to unavailability of fund(though you’ve the fund). He stopped coming to working for 8months, then after 8months he came back to work asking you to pay for the 8months he was away, because he claimed to be fighting for justly cause. Will you pay him? I wrote this epistle because it’s obvious you don’t understand the situation. The government is poor, but ASUU is not different.

The speaker did that just to save Tinubu campaign but the truth is coming out gradually.
So when they resume they were now compelled so that they won't go on strike again. NIC judgement compelled them to resume and put them to shame!

Truly, it's not by human intelligence or prowess, to be immune to the lies from this regime and current party.
If Educated people can be deceived, what about the uneducated ones? huh

We must begin to reason with a superior mind...a mind from the Spirit, so that, everyone won't end up with that phrase "APC deceived us again" come 2023.

There's more to a lecturer's "work" than teaching/lecturing....

You won't know until it's time for you to process graduate studies and scholarships abroad...the you will need them to help you out with publication of research.... proofreading your essays.... writing your references... (and I assure you they do this numerous times..and for innumerable people)

I am sure you will feel bad if you then write your supervisor.. requesting his help writing you reference..and he says you shouldn't call him at off work hours...or tells you he cannot attend to you... because he is only paid to teach...or he's on "strike".. many academics were still involved in doing all of these....even while teaching wasn't going on... And it's part of the responsibilities in their appointment letters...(teaching... research and community service) .... illiteracy, ignorance and the proclivity to illegality is what is emboldening FG 's current withholding of their salaries...

It will still be paid..and in full... just that it'll likely involve some back n forth...but I assure you..the salaries will be fully paid...unless the students currently enrolled in all Nigerian universities will not graduate ever....

From which planet did you fall before you landed on earth and found yourself in Nigeria? So you were not aware of all the agitations by both parents and NANS and the 3-day protest by the NLC in solidarity with the varsity workers? I don't have the strength for explanation please.
