Thastie: Which job are you doing in the UK that has brought you this much. its like you have save more than £3000 in 3 months. This can mislead new comers thinking they can make this kind of money within 3 months of arrival |

My point is, you guys come only just to jump into conclusion and comment what yah know next to nothing about. No you say you earn more than what 60% of us abroad do, Now are you sure you know what 60% is? it means if there is 10o of us abroad you earn more than 60 of us.U do realize the average take home in the Uk right now is roughly £2000 which translate to N1.8m in today's money, So your monthly salary must be over N2m then right? |

Re: Why Are Nigerians Japing To The UK When UK Workers are On Strike For Poor Salary by ttoyetade: 9:35pm On Dec 28, 2022 |
erico2k2:Thanks but this is not normal or possible within 3 months of arrival in the UK. i.e saving £3000 in 3 months. One can hardly find its feet regardless of the job one may get. Accomodation within a month, energy cost, transport etc will at least be £1000. So it means he must have been earning after tax £2000 a month which is almost impossible for a new arrival. His story is too good to be true and cannot be generalised. |

Lekan239: Can you give an estimate of the number of people living in Nigeria that you think earn £1,000/month? I know for instance that drilling engineers in the oil & gas industry in Nigeria can earn anywhere from $500 to $2000 per day. Office based engineers in earn somewhere around ₦1 or 2 million to ₦6 million per month. This I know, I've seen the paychecks for these people. The TOTAL EMPLOYMENT COUNT in the entire oil & gas industry in Nigeria is 65,000 persons, including drivers, gatemen, secretaries and cleaners. Chevron Nigeria has 600 permanent employees ONLY, anyone else working at Chevron is a temporary contractor. That's an industry I happen to know a bit about. The TOTAL EMPLOYMENT COUNT for the Federal & State governments combined is about 2 million people. Averaged out, I don't believe they earn so much. How many of them do you think earn £1,000/month? So could you please estimate for me...make an educated guess...of how many of these super earners there are in Nigeria? Seriously, I'm VERY interested. I know they exist, I know a fellow who works remotely for Microsoft in Nigeria, he was in my home this past summer. I know another who has a fish farm and makes a lot of money, I know how he pays his workers, I also know how much artisans in the building and quarry trades were making when I employed them in Nigeria. So my close experience and information matches the research reports I've read from PWC and others that only 0.5% of workers in Nigeria earn more than ₦200K per month. Again, it's not that these Super Earners don't exist, the real issue is HOW MANY OF THEM are out there in the Nigerian population? What are the chances that a random person you meet at Abuja Airport earns £1,000/month? That's the koko of the matter, that's more RELEVANT. Anyway, to each their own. Believe what you want. 4 Likes |

ttoyetade:You forgot the few Nigerians who now come get here prepared, they have sponsored jobs mainly or are professionals with jobs waiting. Work provides housing or match them we co-workers to buddy up. Some might live with relatives for up to 4 months. If your take home is £2000 a month and you live with your Aunty, can't you save "1000 a month? If you get to live in a carer's quarter and pay £450 as rent in a month cant you save £1000 a month? Now if your agency that you work for sends you to live in care then you do not need to pay rent, this can go on as long as the client is alive. I can go on and on,Im saying this cos I know the ins and out, you don't. 3 Likes |

IbeOkehie: The average salary in Nigeria is 30 to 50k and thats for Lagos. Outside Lagos it's way less as there are states where the average salary is still less than 10000 naira. States like Abia state are owning doctors salaries for 2 years now. 3 Likes |

ahiboilandgas: The woman who was killed in Bristol was not killed directly and intently by police as the lady in Nigeria. She was also not transferred hospital to hospital because they were unable to treat her before she died. Unlike the lady in Nigeria who could have been saved had she recieved treatment at the first hospital she was taken to.... Ambulance no even dey to carry that poor woman sef and the man had to abandon his small children to take his wife to the hospital....stop comparing apples with oranges...Nigeria and UK are not mates. 6 Likes 1 Share |

If you do not understand the above, you are not qualified to speak on this subject no point talking to you, the problem with some of you is ITK, you don't live in the Uk and has never earned ££ but yet you want to tell us who lived here more than 2 decades how it works here, does that make any sense to you at all? 3 Likes |
