Not entirely accurate about VO’s rejection and approval. You have to prove to VO beyond reasonable doubt that your chosen course is going to be fully funded… and also it would beneficiary impact Naija. You have to clearly articulate your passion and knowledge of your chosen course in a way to convince VO.
Your weakest link is why becoming a US-trained Engineer now? Why didnt you pursue it in Naija or Uk?
Or do you have a successful company that you have built for all the time you weren't in school?
Or do you have a verifiable and reputable companies that you have worked for since you left or dropped out of school? Is your I-20 funded by a relative or an employer?

Little wonder. Thing is I dabbled into many activities during that gap, I wasn't idle through out. Also, I'll be registering my company this month. I don't know if that can serve as an option, my initial plan was to come back and set up a technology hub for youngsters. I'm not really interested in staying in the US for long, maybe just have it as a second nationality then run back to Naija. I've been studying people's transcripts and making points for possible questions and possible answers. The hurdle right now is gaining admission, i would have gone with the UK option but let me face the US first and see, I don't know why I'm not scared of the interview stage, maybe it's false confidence but I feel this strong positive energy that it won't be an issue

For where? I dy Naija oo. I was on the waitlist for funding last year and never got in. I obviously won’t go to the embassy with an unfunded PhD offer.

That one na no go area oooo 5 years without funding na suicide mission.

well.... they stated it on their website that their MS degrees do not come with funding. However, that's not the same for their PhDs because they do come with some kind of funding. we await the outcome of their decision
Wow! but I know a couple of persons who got admitted for PhD, yet no fundings!

You have to clearly show a consistent work history and pattern. Moving from job to job or from marketing to sales-construction to IT..may hurt your chances. Founding a company now is good, but is it going to cover your gap years? I doubt it
Getting admission is the easiest thing to do if you’re self funding it.
Per interview, bear in mind that this is not a Nsija exam format and rule.. if you’re given 10 questions , you can fail 3 and still get an A… while in Visa interview, if you’re asked 10 questions, you get 9 correct and fail one, you can still be denied.

That’s true. Cos most scholarships arent available to foreigners. Also in some schools, you may qualify as an in-state resident after 1 semester, which makes u eligible for other scholarships available to in-state residents.

You’re starting from the wrong point. Transcripts are not very reliable as you will be interviewed based on your unique set of circumstances. In this case, you’re 31 applying for a bachelors degree. Do you have a consistent record of employment? In what field? How is it related to your proposed major of study? Why now and how does the new degree help you after you are done?

What you should be focused on first is figuring out what major/school/financial support. Once you have all that squared away, you now have the time to sit down and think through potential interview scenarios.

Exactly. His biggest problems are his age and gap years. It also seems from his posts that he’s unable to finish things when started. Why didnt he finish college in Naija? How’s starting a company in 2023 going to account for his gap years?
Why didnt he try in UK/Germany?? How’s US going to be different?

Maybe in some countries. There are absolutely no interview waivers for Nigeria though. You must interview.

Well, lucky enough I used my gap years pretty well to acquire practical knowledge in what I want to study now, I believe you can fail 5 questions out of that 10 and still get approved, it depends on the quality of your answers to the VO questions.

What I'm focused on right now is getting admission, funding is looking good at the moment, I noticed some schools usually make scholarships available for students with good gp, that can also help during the 2md year up, as for school, that prompted my first enquiry on this thread.

Why I'm reading transcripts, I've come to realize that for you to be successful at something difficult, study the pattern of people that have gone through that process with a success and also those that failed it, that would give you a guidance to minimize your chances of failure. Studying like we know, takes time. I hate going for an interview without adequately preparing for it. I'm familiarizing myself with the VO likely tough questions since it looks like the interview process is the hardest.

Not really figured out, nothing is 100% factual, the koko is I'm not scared of being rejected, If I get rejected I'll go the Europe way.

This is all over the place and you don’t seem to have a clue. I’m glad you said that success requires you to learn from those who have done this before… well here we are, and you seem to be treating our advice as a waste of your time.

To say the interview process is the hardest betrays your ignorance. You have no major picked out, are here begging someone else to give you a list of schools, have no idea the requirements for funding… and interview transcripts are what you want to read? My take is you are quite lazy. You want someone else to suggest a school and major for you, help you figure out funding, while you do only what engages you. Good luck bro

Hi all, please I need a to ask some stuffs about F2.

If I get married in another country and not Nigeria with my F2, will it be a problem to get her visa?

Then since my stay has about 1year to expire and I have an i-20 of 6 years, will the visa be approved or will I need to come back to renew my visa for her to travel?

Then what if she keeps coming back and going, then when the visa expires after 2 years, can she come back to renew our visas while I don't come back?

Also, will she be given a fresh 2 years or if not, if my visa expires, can she travel with hers? Or will she be given the remaining period of my own visa?

Thanks so much, please examples and instances will help here too.

The interview is the easiest part of the stuff if you know what you are going for, what you are studying, have the right funding and what you will do with the degree. The hardest part is getting the school, course of study, application requirements and funding. So do the basic first before reading transcripts. You don't have admission and you are reading transcripts. What are you going to relate the transcript with. Nigerians and backward integration...

You’re young, been to the US and didn’t over stay. Seems you can afford it too. There’s every chance you’d get the visa especially if you get into a proper university. A CC will only reduce your chances. Add your previous Canadian student visa refusals and you understand that your best bet will be to get admission into a 4year program.

Having a relative on FI with good academic standing is not going affect your chances….
But why CC? Did your sister and bro go thru CC route? If yes, how long ago?
With Japa wave in Naija, CC route really reduces your chance.
