Seriously I thought it was 90 percent o. Any article that says this. I would love to read it.

Buhari worked hard and fast to improve it to 123% grin.

Nigeria is a finished country bro....it will take at least a decade of course correction to set it on track after buhari leaves and that is assuming the next person even acknowledges buhari drove the country into a ditch

This is not a very smart way to look at things.

None of this is true. The system is designed to protect the weak. Nigerian men are used to a culture that permits abuse. It's always a shock to the system moving to a society that gives the weaker spouse the power to stand up to your abuse. Black men are no more at the bottom of the totem pole in the West compared to Nigeria.

The idea that you get anything for free in the West is a misnomer. Nothing is free.

Paying a house off after 20 years makes sense. It's why westerners don't feel the pressure to steal government money... since they can easily own a home while making payments commensurate with what they honestly earn. The average Nigerian family can never buy a house just on their salary alone. Your house can be taken away if you fail to pay your tax... that is a good thing as it keeps everyone honest. Your comparison is to a Nigeria where there are no consequences for failing to pay your tax. That's why the country is a hell hole.

As against Nigeria where you can decide not to pay tax and no one does anything? As i said, the western adherence to the rule of law is why you're dying to get visas to come here.

She worked every day, taking care of your kids and home. That isn't free.

And if the house is just one as in most cases, she takes over the house and the man's sorry ass kicked out to the streets. Is that also a reward for taking care of "your" kids and house? grin grin grin. The house and kids that he may still be prevented from getting near or risk jail term

Now I see why an "experienced investor" can promote MBA capital as quality investment, when we wey no know market could discern from its fundamentals that it is ponzi.

1. Riding bicycle is a not a sign of poverty abroad. I drive a car , my director rides a bicycle...go figure. In Holland, it's bicyle country...you think its poverty?

2. If your brother with msc from a rated university abroad could not get a better job than he would have gottwn with msc from ekiti, you will agree something is wrong with either nigeria, your brother or both?

3. The average job in ireland will see you get a decent apartment (could be 1 bedroom flat depending on location) and within less than 4-5 years get mortgage to own yours. That is more than average job in nigeria will give you. If your brother could not get pass getting a job that meant he has to live in a shared apartment in a country where the standard of living and employment rate is much better than Nigeria, you cant again assume its the fault of the country.

eyya after a whole lot of bullying and psychological tuoturing by oyinbo kids ! I can understand . how many monkeys have been called since you started ? You better hustle and join BIS lekki or day water college or America international school abuja as a principal where you will earn 10m per annum with respect , peace and prestige ! Than teaching some silly oyinbo kids that will keep laughing and harassing your Yoruba accent hegg for eggs ! So learn dodging skills to fight off knife stabs cos most teachers in oyinbo land and under constant risk of be stab or shot for simple thing like pronouncing eggs as heggs .

AISA pays it's main USA trained teachers about $40,000 a year. The head of school would make far more than that. No Oyinbo will agree to 10m per annum salary.

Even returnees probably will earn more than that.

I think people who say people shouldn’t japa are wicked and evil. A lot of them have either gone, can’t go or are very comfortable in Nigeria and don’t want the progress of others.

Leaving Nigeria legally with a good plan is the best decision one can make.

Some of them have been denied visa hence their way of reasoning. cool

It is better to be a first class citizen in Nigeria than be a second class citizen in America, Europe or Asia.

I have achieved more than majority of my peers who relocated to America and the UK.

Many of the under 40 Nigerian youths who have the best opportunities to "Japa", but remained in Nigeria are the founders of the startups attracting over $800 million to the country in the past eight years.
There are opportunities of immense benefits for Nigerians who are ready to succeed.

Uber came to Nigeria with only their app without buying any vehicle and today they are making millions of dollars with fleet of cars for the Uber taxi service.
Four Nigerians can contribute to raise money to start a new taxi service startup and they will not need to "Japa" to anywhere.
The N300, 000 - N1,200, 000 that you need to "Japa" is enough for a lucrative venture in Nigeria.

I only advise anyone who wants to "Japa" to think twice and if you insist on leaving, don't be scammed.
With only N300, 000 you can become a member of a recognized organization of entrepreneurs and receive invitations to travel to trade fairs and other events in America, Canada and the UK.

As for me, I don't need to "Japa", because I am the CEO of my fully Incorporated digital media company since 2009 and my company has never borrowed and has done successful events for the IMAX Corporation of Canada, Dolby Laboratories of America and the High Commission of Canada with partnerships with Vuulr and Cinewav of Singapore.

I wanted to create a new travel advisory thread to advise the youths but I have been banned from NL front page apparently. I have lived in several countries abroad at different times and am accomplished.

It is very simple if you have ears:
These are factors to consider when relocating abroad:

1. Age 2. Relevant Job skills 3. Social linkages 4. Personal conviction

I will write briefly on this 4 while you figure out the rest. They are not cast on stone.

Age. At certain age, hustling becomes increasingly hard. It will be foolhardy traveling abroad at certain age to start looking for what to do, no matter how easily you could get your travel documents. It could however, mean a different thing when you have saved enough and you are just going to start investing or have a good life with family. Not even degrees guarantee jobs at certain age and of course, certain skills are exceptions as elucidated below.

2. While age knocks you off in this vicissitudes, relevant skills could reconnect you. Skills and experience in STEM courses and medical sciences could haul great advantages your way irrespective of age. The caveat here is that you could get the shock of your life if you have not got the job before relocating. So. Make sure you have landed that abroad job or made concrete arrangement for it before moving.

3. Social linkages: this could also showcase great advantages without no 1 and no 2 above. Good family ties or friendships abroad could accelerate your gains. The caveat also would be that if prior arrangements are not made regarding prospects, you may be in for great surprises. If friends and relations are not prepared, they may still welcome you but you have precious time to waste.

4. Personal convictions. This is just like counting your costs ahead of time. I have heard someone in his fifties say. I don't care, I am doing this for my kids, no matter what it takes me. If you are convinced that whatever be the case you are ready to rough it no matter how long, with the expectation of course that last last, your children for instance will benefit from stable economy, excellent social security system and amenities in the North America, then roll. This is important, so you don't have regrets or engage inn crimes. A police officer told me they can get every criminal but they choose those to go after. Pls be guided.

Let me tell you what happens to many unprepared people especially Africans. They wear good clothing, eat good food and look very good: the West has conquered these basic needs of man. So they display pictures on Instagram and you envy them. You may be richer in all respects back home.

Hehe, na so u guys hate Tinubu that much? What is the basis for this fear you are trying to create? Has Tinubu ever proven himself to be a bad manager of resources? If anything, he's the best manager of resources we have got for now

Coming from someone who campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2015 & 2019, supports ALL APC's policies, sucks El-Rufai's deek and swallows his cum, and sees nothing wrong with a Muslim-Muslim ticket in a heterogenous religious country. Your hypocrisy is nauseating.

The man who licks a microphone and is thoroughly corrupt is who you christened as the best candidate Nigeria has. The same "best manager" could only support a flagrant and incompetent Buhari in 2015.

Best in managerial expertise!

That part of your post in emphasis (emphasis mine) is the key that people need to unlock their productivity.

There are benefits and disadvantages associated with most stuffs and same is applicable to 'japaing' or 'not japaing'.

Some people who make their money from remote jobs earning forex may not be keen to 'japa' because it is beautiful to earn in $ dollars and spend in Naira.

Some others have thriving businesses that has grown big enough so much so that going start all over abroad may not make much sense to them. For example, there are people who send their kids money from Nigeria to America or UK for upkeeps. At least, I had a boss who did that until the son graduated and I know of a few people who still do that.

For some other people, the idea of moving to a much more functional society makes sense to them.

The motivating factors for individuals differ. Individuals should figure out what works for them.

But like you said, people should learn to be productive wherever they are: whether home or abroad.

You will find many people on this forum wasting their time posting scores of nonsense posts daily, when they could have figured out how to be more useful to themselves and their society.

So when folks spend all day on social media fora discussing what nots, how are they suppose to make money? Well, except if they spend that time for content creation or any other online money making venture then it may make some sense.

I like ur analysis. Many jst wanna join d wagon of i live abroad. Ask dem why they left their country, they will say the govt is bad. All govt in the world are corrupt, what makes the country better is her citizens but Nigeria have more bad and unpatriotic citizens.
