It depends on your area of experience. However, Chemical engineering jobs are a bit restricted to process industries, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals and the likes.
chemical engineer, and you can't make it here after working 8yrs, forget it you can't make it there, making money is not the issue, it is making good use of it

Bross I have spent over two years researching way of life in the UK . on here and other forums, people like you always come with this big word TAX, in the UK you pay Tax on your salary in the Uk you do same, you sick you go hospital for free cos you pay about £100 to £150 monthly as NI which is less than N20k, if you get ill and need an Op in Nigeria how much would you pay?if you drive you pay for MOT which is equal to road worthiness, you pay road tax which you pay here as duty, you pay insurance in 9ja it jst got multiplied by 3.Now you have not included police tax, High Nepa bills no light, You dispose your own refuse and you pay for it,U pay for water gas and electric etc, SO Pleas what tax are you NOW shouting about?
Tax is deducted from your salary monthly. I do not know the percentage they remove in the UK but 20% is removed from my salary every month. I reside in central europe

Nigerians should make the mistake of voting Bola Tinubu as President next month, by then, Somali, Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan will be among the top countries Nigerians will be running to for japa because UK, Europe, US, Canada, etc would have shut their doors against Nigerians shocked
Unfortunately for you, Tinubu is going to be your next president because he's the most qualified candidate among the rest. So carry your bad blood away from this thread.

Do you even know what you are talking about, so a skilled dependent with a full time job can’t make 3k in a month, is that UK that useless lmao. I made $8k a month as an intern in the US.

Anyway that was the aim of this post but I had to stop due to my busy schedule as well as some of the points as been mentioned by others.

Be that as it may, It is not as if making a 3k is not attainable, definitely it is but it depends on the migrant situations, skills, profession, financial situation.

E.g 60% of migrant to the Uk are coming for a greener pasture and most don’t really have the sufficient finances to make this trip which usually make them resort to loans and several other means to make the trip possible with the believe once they come to the Uk they will start gathering enough for themselves immediately.

Anyone in this kind of situation should be ready to do anything in the Uk and not necessarily wait till they get there line of job.

Uk employers values people with Skills and professionals and these are the people who make lots of money while others earn less

Honestly for me I learn to ignore insults and abuses on this platform. Fortunately for me I have been doing business with people in the Uk even before migrating as well as have done several business on this platform even when I wanted to sell my car on this platform I know the insults I received but people who have met me on this platform know me. I I try to say things with all sense of honesty.

My post was not actually to deter anyone away from coming to the Uk but was only trying to prepare them of the challenges here most especially those who resort to loan or people who wont have financial means that would atleast last them for a month or two most especially the students who always believe when they come here they will hustle and pay there remaining fees.

AreaFada2:

My brother, I know you mean well, but please let everyone have their own experience. Experience is the best teacher. A lot are more interested in trying to prove you wrong or even insult you instead of learning from your advise. All that from the comfort or chaos of their abode in Lekki, Bariga or Agege depending on the economic status. grin grin

Only few can fathom the trust cost of accommodation in London, for example. One said you get free treatment but forgot about about £10 per each prescribed drug. On what income level do you pay £100 to £150?

Over the years here trying to advise people to be realistic, we have been asked why we have not relocated to 9ja yet.

I have lived most of my life in the Western world, I can easily see that things are much harder for new comers compared to when I first left Nigeria long time ago.
I have many friends in the UK and have visited that country more than any other country except for Nigeria. Nigerians are suffering in the UK, most are finding out that it's not es easy s they thought it will be.

I'll never tell anyone not to leave Nigeria, I left when I was very young but just know that it's not rosy as you think it is. All countries have inflation and job problems now just like Nigeria. May be with the exception of the US. If you can make your way to the US, then I'll say you are good.

God bless you sir. This is exactly my point.

For those Nigerians who have a good job or earning high amount doesn’t have any reason relocating to this place but can only come on a visit while those rushing here through student visa route should be prepared Of what to come

A family going on a student visa may experience a very rough 1st year due to the fact that only one spouse works full time as the student can only do 20 hours.
2nd year will be okay when both spouse works full time. Even the worst is both couples earn £1,500 each after tax = £3k/month.
House rent PCM - £800 for 2bdrm apartment.
Groceries - £300 maximum.
Bills (electricity, water, gas) - £200
Internet - Home and mobile - £50
Transport - £200
Miscellaneous - £150
Balance = £1,300.
That means the couple can conveniently save £1,300 every month provided it's a low job o.

Save the £1,300 for 24 months (2years) = £31,000 that is 28million naira.
You can now take it to Nigeria and invest in something good for yourself. That's another income without working.
Now you get it
which nonsensical investment in Nigeria? It's far better to invest it dia in the UK.

This is going to be an honest review for those who are coming or intend coming to the Uk.

I have watched with keen interest how most People on this platform as resorted to abuse/insult on the few people who are trying to enlighten us about the challenges that are faced in the Uk.

While this Enlightenment was not meant to dissuade anyone from coming to the Uk but to prepare you of the UPS & Down faced by most immigrants.

Unfortunately many Nigerians are not prepared to be well informed about something especially when it comes to traveling while I don’t blame many if not for the situation in Nigeria.

Coming to the Uk right now is not for everyone and that is the honest truth what I mean by this is that there are some set of people whom I will not advise to come here when it comes to work.

The truth of the matter is that if you are coming here you have to do away with pride and be ready to hustle, I mean serious hustle with hard work Infact with this serious hustle if you are not careful you might not see peanut to save.

There are two major things that takes away your money here in the UK

Number 1: Tax

The Uk economy cannot be compared with that of Nigeria and over here everything is tax compared to Nigeria where you can do away with that.

This country is built on tax and the social amenities everyone is enjoying from good road, electricity are as a result of the revenue from tax

Every employer deducts tax from your wages and there is no way you can avoid it.

Number 2: Accommodation

Accommodation as become a major challenge which as made a lot of people homeless due to lack of funds to secure accommodation or unavailability of accommodation within your budget.

Brb
Just wondering how Nigerians that are not business owners reasonably evade tax. It seems impossible to me. Before my money gets to me, tax already deducted and credited on my tax certificate in Nigeria here.

I am utterly confused at the way folks give analysis though. I think every person, family, individual, people, etc have different paths to where they are going.
1. The op is right about tax in the UK but taxes starts from a particular amount of earnings. Tax is quite high.
2. Yep, rent is the next thing that's quite expensive.
3. Bills are currently quite high this winter period due to war in Ukraine and gas supply. Butttt
4. There are January Intake programs for students that have 4 months holiday between trimester 1 and 2 where you can work full time. I have seen folks earn 2300 pounds after tax of 400 pounds in one month from working 20 days meaning they made 2700.
5. Couples could make the husband the dependant and he can work full time.
6. Some students end up switching to work visa through their spouse or even themselves before finishing school.
7. Do not generalize the UK. It's actually 4 countries in one. England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. England is expensive but other places are cheaper to live.

In summary, please do what works for you. Like everything in life. It takes proper planning. Plan yourself well. One thing that you can be a but pleased with is steady power that you will pay for.

Also, don't be deceived about the health sector here though. The facilities are there but they have process crisis. Too many bottle necks to see GPs and get treatment. The service is good but accessing it is hard. Also, if you have kids, no family to drop them with.

and your point is?
Do people not get taxed in Nigeria when they get paid salary? infact let me go further people like teachers get taxed more, they are forced to pay Union fees whether they like it or not.
NB I noticed that yah lot in Europe always like to not mention your country, is this some form of big secrete? you are the 11th person to have done this, what country in central Europe pls

do you realize what u are typing , how is 100 pounds less than 20k . That’s 93k danm it , a silver health insurance in axa mansard is about 73k year and they pay theirs monthly that’s not even tax that’s the premium . Nepa bill in nigeria is not a tax u pay for what u use if u have a prepaid meter . MOT and every other thing u mentioned are premium , which are yearly and they are not tax that are monthly. So if u look at it your analysis are not the same comparing premiums to tax . Don’t forget Dey pay their premiums and they also get taxed . And this Tax are heavy compared to nigeria that a lot don’t even pay directly.
typo error, meant less than 200k
Why are you lying, AXA is private Insurance, that's for rich people you as an immigrant going to take private health insurance good luck, even the citizens are not that in a rush to do that, they all pay NI. so your AXA insurance is bullshit sorry!lls
NEPA BILLS is a form of tax cos you pay for what you do not use unless you have prepaid, Don't 4get I live in Nigeria like , Im a Warri boy.

MOT, don't you pay that in Nigeria yearly unless you don't own a car so you wont know

There are taxes you must pay in the Uk whether you work or not these are basic to everyone
PAYE if you work and NI
Council Tax
these are the only two deduction you pay if you are a private individual and you work
There is nothing more every other tax is optional

If I have to pick between the UK and Canada, I'll choose Canada any day any time.
First, it will be much easier to get your papers in Canada, secondly, Canada is the closest thing to the US except that the population is very low and can be very very cold. It will be easier to grow professionally in Canada if you are smart and willing to learn new technologies.
Canada is also expensive if you are trying to live in the big cities like Toronto but the country is so huge that you have other places that you can move to that are less expensive.

Good luck.

Are you saying one partner should stay back with children permanently? Or advising that one person should stay for like 6 months before the rest of the family joins? Am asking for myself.
If it’s student route it’s better both husband and wife come in while the kids stay back at least for 6months or thereabout depending on their age… when just the student come in, it will be difficult to raise money to complete the school fee and live. But with a partner that can work 40hrs and above then you can take care of your bills. Another thing the OP failed to mention is that everywhere ain’t as expensive as LONDON. Also the UK compromises of other countries which are not extremely expensive to live in. For example in Northern Ireland you will get a very comfortable 2bed duplex for 600£ monthly and you can get a job that pays close to that weekly after tax if you take overtime shift.

Okay.

We want to learn.

My honest and one simple advice to all and every on here is, if you can afford it, please, make your way out and go seek a better life for you and your family.

It isn't your fault that demons have decided to take over the country and ironically,
Actually it is
We are cowards
They are not
They win everytime

while they take charge here, they have their kids tucked away in foreign lands giving them the best and grooming them to come back to rule you and your future kids. It is a vicious cycle.

Find your way out. When dem ready to repair this country, make dem bring their kids back make all of us do am together.

No matter how rough the UK is right now, it is still better than the farm here. I am even happy for all Nigerians to move and go Nigerianize the UK make dem reap bountifully from their farm produce in a karmaic way.

Make your move legally and launch your final push to wherever you want to end up.

For all of you shouting Emilokan, Athiefkulate, Obidatti, a very friendly and brotherly advice, make una lower una expectations.

This current administration will look like Obama's administration by the time the next one come on board.

No be curse or pessimism.

You just can't build on a zero foundation and expect it to stand.

This is sinking sand.

I am telling you this are bills your nepa money that is monthly and it is dependant on if u use prepaid or not . If u use prepaid u don’t have a problem with estimated bills. I am telling you that dir is a difference btw tax and bills . If u work and you are not a Yahoo boy your salary will be taxed but nobody brings unnecessary tax to you in nija . If u don’t do jack . And thier some bills u can choose not to pay in nija . U can have a car and not do the paperwork for years and u can be driving it around. But uk especially. U pay for everything.
