You work 6days a week for 14 hours daily, you won't be the one to spend the earnings.

drsibz66:

Well from experience you can make 3k alone if you can work at least 6days a week for 14hrs on a 11£ hour job. Moreover you and your wife can comfortably work 3k a month even if the student has to work 20hrs a week. Fact

If I have to pick between the UK and Canada, I'll choose Canada any day any time.
First, it will be much easier to get your papers in Canada, secondly, Canada is the closest thing to the US except that the population is very low and can be very very cold. It will be easier to grow professionally in Canada if you are smart and willing to learn new technologies.
Canada is also expensive if you are trying to live in the big cities like Toronto but the country is so huge that you have other places that you can move to that are less expensive.

Good luck.

Thank u so much. One of my closest friend is preparing to leave, at a time he became confused where to go for faster return, he said Australia why his brother was telling him Canada. He actually wanted to leave via the student route.

Honestly for me I learn to ignore insults and abuses on this platform. Fortunately for me I have been doing business with people in the Uk even before migrating as well as have done several business on this platform even when I wanted to sell my car on this platform I know the insults I received but people who have met me on this platform know me. I I try to say things with all sense of honesty.

My post was not actually to deter anyone away from coming to the Uk but was only trying to prepare them of the challenges here most especially those who resort to loan or people who wont have financial means that would atleast last them for a month or two most especially the students who always believe when they come here they will hustle and pay there remaining fees.

Guy you have tried to warn who wan hear. For the people that think it's easy I pray that they have the opportunity to travel to the UK. After 6 months of living in the UK you can come and educate us on how you don begin make 3000 pounds a month. I read about how some people are trying to recruit Nigerian teachers to the UK for 28,000 pounds a year salary and I smiled at that. It's only reality that can teach some hard headed people.

Okay.

We want to learn.

My honest and one simple advice to all and every on here is, if you can afford it, please, make your way out and go seek a better life for you and your family.

It isn't your fault that demons have decided to take over the country and ironically, while they take charge here, they have their kids tucked away in foreign lands giving them the best and grooming them to come back to rule you and your future kids. It is a vicious cycle.

Find your way out. When dem ready to repair this country, make dem bring their kids back make all of us do am together.

No matter how rough the UK is right now, it is still better than the farm here. I am even happy for all Nigerians to move and go Nigerianize the UK make dem reap bountifully from their farm produce in a karmaic way.

Make your move legally and launch your final push to wherever you want to end up.

For all of you shouting Emilokan, Athiefkulate, Obidatti, a very friendly and brotherly advice, make una lower una expectations.

This current administration will look like Obama's administration by the time the next one come on board.

No be curse or pessimism.

You just can't build on a zero foundation and expect it to stand.

This is sinking sand.
The problem is that there is no. Where in the world where the sand is not sinking one way or another right now. Some people are just jumping from frying to fire.

Stop being needlessly aggressive.

You're very wrong.

Even the analysis the person you quoted originally is not far wrong, in reality, when you factor in the likelihood of earning far more than the estimated income he used in his calculation.

Anyway, I'm not trying to convince you - I couldn't care less. I was just amused by how aggressive you were about something you could have confirmed for yourself with 2 minutes of googling.

This is going to be an honest review for those who are coming or intend coming to the Uk.

I have watched with keen interest how most People on this platform as resorted to abuse/insult on the few people who are trying to enlighten us about the challenges that are faced in the Uk.

While this Enlightenment was not meant to dissuade anyone from coming to the Uk but to prepare you of the UPS & Down faced by most immigrants.

Unfortunately many Nigerians are not prepared to be well informed about something especially when it comes to traveling while I don’t blame many if not for the situation in Nigeria.

Coming to the Uk right now is not for everyone and that is the honest truth what I mean by this is that there are some set of people whom I will not advise to come here when it comes to work.

The truth of the matter is that if you are coming here you have to do away with pride and be ready to hustle, I mean serious hustle with hard work Infact with this serious hustle if you are not careful you might not see peanut to save.

There are two major things that takes away your money here in the UK

Number 1: Tax

The Uk economy cannot be compared with that of Nigeria and over here everything is tax compared to Nigeria where you can do away with that.

This country is built on tax and the social amenities everyone is enjoying from good road, electricity are as a result of the revenue from tax

Every employer deducts tax from your wages and there is no way you can avoid it.

Number 2: Accommodation

Accommodation as become a major challenge which as made a lot of people homeless due to lack of funds to secure accommodation or unavailability of accommodation within your budget.

When I see posts like this talking about TAX, TAX in the UK and how difficult it is, I get surprised and suspicious if it is the same UK I have been in since 2021. UK is just like any other country where nothing is free. If you are lazy, and you think going to UK/US/Canada would be an escape; you are in for a rude awakening. A lazy man will not make it anywhere. My wife and I conveniently saved £15,000 in this same UK in 2022; this is on top of sponsoring my brother and his wife into the country and completing a house project for my father. Believe all you want, if you are lazy wether you go to UK or US or Canada you still will not succeed, and there are homeless people in US, Canada, Australia, UK and all over the world. It all depends on the individuals.

I live in Brighton, which isn't a cheap City by any standard, nicknamed "London by the Sea" for that reason.

I was looking for someone to say this.

I honestly don't understand all the hullabaloo about tax tax tax that people say all the time.

It genuinely boggles my mind. Maybe when I'm in the highest tax bracket sha but how I cannot even complain about tax now when everyday I go out I can clearly see the benefits of that tax. Immaculate road systems with multiple smooth-running transportation options (not perfect yhh), free recreational facilities, health, security that I often go to sleep without locking my door, etc etc.

When I was in Naija I had to run gen almost 24/7, had my own borehole for water, built fence so high it's like xxxxxx yard, cannot travel to meet anyone in any city where there's no airport because of fear of kidnapping on the roads...

How on earth will I now be complaining about tax here instead of focusing on working hard to increase my earnings?

Na wah for people o. My conclusion is that people want to enjoy the best but do nothing to contribute toward it.

You could say that the rate of council tax varies by county/location, but all parts of the UK are subject to council tax

Someone in Northern Ireland said they don't pay council tax. He is right

This is very false budgeting. I have lived in the UK for 2 decades.
Which city is charging £800 per month for rent?? 2bed rent is about £900 upwards depending on the city. The cities with cheaper rent are often cities with no jobs or villages.

I can tell you categorically that utilities - water/gas/electric for a 2bed is around £400 per month. Then there's council tax. As long as you have a non- student living in the flat/house, u will pay which is anywhere from £100 - £170pm depending on the borough

This are core bills that MUST be paid before u move fmto feeding/tp to work/black tax (sending money back home), paying ur tuition, saving up IHS /course training for career advancement, personal savings.

What the thread poster said is a fact but 9ja will argue until they get here. This is why nigerians in the UK ignore the Japa crew because we can all see that they have been warned before they got on a plane but they refuse. Instead u want someone to accommodate u and ur family till u "find your feet". Forgetting that by "accomodating u, their own utilities bill goes up/feeding goes up, they run the risk of a neighbor reporting them for overcrowding etc.

He who has ears, let him hear

I think you are generalising, some pay less than that, some of those flexible bills depends on level of usage.

I don Japa from UK a long time ago but from what I know, 28,000 pounds go fit survive a single person in London depending on the part of London you live, it's almost the same with the bigger cities in the UK. 28,000 pounds gross income equates to about 24000 or 25000 after tax, then after you remove other expenses Na him you go know what you can save.

Is doable,I know a lot of couple that surviving it.I even know some with two kids and some that gave birth few months after their arrival.
It's all has to do with a mindset,it depends on city they settled in,is not a must to live in London, Manchester, Birmingham or Leeds.
There are £350 shared apartments with separate bathroom with just only common kitchen.
Northern Ireland is relatively cheaper than England and wales, even in Glasgow you can get £600 pm for a flat.those that goes into health and social care starts making over £2k per month after 3 months on d job.
Students works unlimited hours during holidays and those that are hard working makes a lot of money before school resumes from holidays.
so person go leave 3 bedroom apartment for wuse go they share apartment and kitchen for Glasgow with indians .How is that progress or retrogression kindly explain!.

If it’s student route it’s better both husband and wife come in while the kids stay back at least for 6months or thereabout depending on their age… when just the student come in, it will be difficult to raise money to complete the school fee and live. But with a partner that can work 40hrs and above then you can take care of your bills. Another thing the OP failed to mention is that everywhere ain’t as expensive as LONDON. Also the UK compromises of other countries which are not extremely expensive to live in. For example in Northern Ireland you will get a very comfortable 2bed duplex for 600£ monthly and you can get a job that pays close to that weekly after tax if you take overtime shift.

We are not going on student route but on work visa though one person will move first will the rest of the family stayed back for some time. Moving the whole family at a go might be quite expensive and settling down could be challenging.

We don't spend dollars in the UK.

If this happened in the UK, the doctor must be self employed and was not paying tax. It is likely he was trying to cut corners. Tax are deducted from the source if you are not self employed and have only one job. Those that are self employed or doing more than 1 jo always reserve the money for tax to be deducted at the end of the year.
Even for high income earners. Tax deducted
will usually be about 25-29% of your income. Most countries in Europe deduct the same amount of tax. In some provinces in Canada, you even pay more tax than UK.
