Hi all! Why is everyone have sponsor. Does US not recognise self sponsored students? Also, is masters in psychology a good one in the US? Thanks
Self-sponsored students are very OK..Just make sure that sources of income are seasoned and consistent. If you’re a worker making N500k/mon and wants to sponsor yourself to an MBA of $40k/yr.. and you have been at the job for 2 yrs.. your income is not mathing up to your tuition.

Vo: Good morning
Me: Good morning ma
Vo: Have you ever traveled out or to the US before?
Me: No
Vo: When did you leave high school?
Me: I left high school in December 2020, after which I took the SAT and an online AutoCAD course where I learnt how to create 2d and 3d design models. I currently intern as an automotive assembler at Innonson Vehicles Manufacturing Nigeria, Nigeria's first indigenous car manufacturing company that specializes in the production of cars with utmost consideration of Nigerian roads, to provide more efficient and suitable products at more affordable prices. My roles at Innonson are to assist the engineers to gather the equipment and devices that are used to assemble the parts and components of cars, generators and bikes. I also assist the engineers to carry out tests to ensure the assembled devices operate as they should.
Vo: oh, everything checks out...(looking at her screen, guess she was reading my ds160)
Vo: Tell me why you decided to go to Howard
Me: I chose Howard because (Vo cuts in)
Vo: Did you apply to other schools?
Me: Yes, Drexel University in Pennsylvania and Hofstra University in New York. But I chose Howard (Vo cuts in again)
Vo: I see your uncle was sponsoring before but now it's your mum. it's changed...then she started typing
Me: Yes. it's a thing in the yoruba culture that anytime an aunty or uncle has been helped greatly by another family member, he/she sees it as his/her responsibility to reciprocate the energy. In my case, my parents were the ones who sponsored my uncle's university education, so he took it at his responsibility to sponsor me to study anywhere in the world. But my mum is more than capable to sponsor me.
Vo: what does she do?
Me: (About to talk) then she says nevermind. She was looking at something on her screen, I guess she was reading my ds160. I put in what my mum does in my previously denied section.
Me: Can I go ahead to tell you why I chose Howard?
Vo: Sure
Me: I chose Howard because it's curriculum emphasizes on experiential learning, which would allow me to make use of its well equipped research centers and laboratories, most especially in the field of Nanotechnology and artificial intelligence. With this, I'll be able to transfer knowledge and make an impact when I return back to Nigeria to work at Innonson where I currently intern.
Howard also resonates my love for African American culture and heritage, and is in fact one of the highest producers of African American graduates in the US who set out to do many great things in the field of STEM. I don't want to be an exception to this as I'll be returning to Nigeria to use my degree from Howard to contribute to the future prosperity of engineering here in Nigeria.
Vo: oh, wonderful
starts typing...she then said "I like your watch"
Me: oh, thank you. I could also get you one. She started laughing then I smiled
Next thing. your visa has been approved!

lmao, she think say I fit afford original hublot watch, don't kill me please. Confam Original fake😂

Hello Itoski! Thank you very much for your advice.

Please is this the app? Did you download it from App Store?

Because I tried inputing my details on it after downloading but It said ‘could not find server’. I don’t know if it’s the app but it’s the only one I saw on App Store.

Congratulations to the approved applicant! More wins in Jesus name.

Hello guys pls am really searching for date now for Sept 2023 intake, I have been denied b2 visa twice in 2022. On the second interview vo asked me what has changed in your circumstances and I said I changed sponsorship from my uncle am visiting in USA to my parents, then she said sorry you ain't eligible for USA visa and I remember that I didn't filled anything at all on my work experience on ds160, I was very depressed and I ask the vo whats reason for my denial and she said USA embassy has strong rules for young students who can't sponsor their trips And then I remembered I didn't filled anything on my D's 160 that I have work experience.

Now am applying for f1, I also got two admit in cis and nursing but preferably would be going for cis,
My question now is do u think since am now going for f1 would the vo still ask me what has changed in your circumstances again or will they consider it as a new different application?
Also am now gathering some work experience too in software programming.

Hello Everyone,

My mom went to the USA on a B1/B2 Visa, she has become a permanent resident and my step-sister went there on an F3 Visa. My question is when filling out my DS160 form should declare them as my relative in the US and hope it won't affect me when I go for my interview?

It's been a while here. School workload.. I hope those denied are making moves and trying to improve their profile. The American dream is valid, don't give up. If you have been denied before, please try and apply to more schools and ultimately get funding. There are more than 3k schools in US and you will surely find a fit for you. All the best to everyone, this thread is a gem and try read past PARTs as well. I hope to check more frequent these days.

For someone looking for graduate assistantship, how do the person go about it? Is it before applying or after getting admitted you mail the school?

It all depends on school or some programs. Some program, assistantship will come with admission while some, it's a separate process entirely. Check the school website and also try and mail graduate coordinators to ask further questions you are in doubt of..

There are many legit pathways, get a job and employer files for you through H1B. Another option is NIW EB-2. There are some other ways too.
