Godszilla: Those people are idiots. They support any popular thing they hear without actually thinking if it will help things or not. That's how the whole cashless nonsense had support from a large majority on social media without thinking if we had the infrastructure to support it. These breed of rètards are all over Nairaland and Twitter. |

Lordofsussex: Yes, because refining at home under subsidy regimes would mean that you lose money for every liter of refined PMS a domestic refinery produces. That's largely why we lost our 4 refineries. Dangote can afford to build a refinery because he took loans to do so...which the banks were pleased to give him because he has something called collateral....sufficient enough to pay for any losses in case. |

Are you aware it's your beloved marketers that are speaking up against subsidy removal without local refining now? Reality has hit them that they will be at the mercy of the importers who will eat up the profit margin just as it's being done in diesel, kerosene and even cooking gas now. The cooking gas retailers are the ones feeling the effect because people now prefer to buy from the bigger sellers. The question now is how they helps develop the economy |

tarantino1: Well, on the other hand, we keep subsidy....and the cost continues to rise with the cost of producing fuel...meaning we keep on getting a deficit in our budget...meaning we have to take loans. Basically we have a choice..pay N800 at the pump for fuel...or pay N800 plus an ungodly interest at the World Bank for fuel. |

clinician2x: When I say salary earners you suppose know who I dey talk about na. Our government officials are actually salary earners that DON'T rely on their salaries but stolen money, if not, inflation should affect them too. In fact, our government officials are the owners of the companies doing the inflating lol |

Godszilla: Yep, there would be some hardship, no good thing comes easy. But after a bit of hardship, when the benefits slowly kick in, we would eventually over the course of some years, see a lot of benefits. (Quick instant food economics is why we are in the mess we are in the first place)> Besides, power is bad in Nigeria because of subsidies, plus 40% of people not paying their bills. (But since most of you support subsidy, I guess government will keep it, and keep on taking loans. After all, government does not listen to people like me.). Again, there is no such thing as cheap stuff. |

Kobonaire4:You keep repeating this lie and I'll keep exposing it. The refineries ran down because of IBB regime policy of presidential approval before maintenance can be carried out. When did subsidy become a big issue in Nigeria? It was early to mid 2000s and the refineries were already at their lowest far before then. |

adenigga: I have been saying this . Nigeria does not have a functioning refinery yet this useless government is touting a privately owned refinery like it is their achievement . Dangote borrowed money to build that refinery . In DOLLARS . Once it comes on , he has an obligation FIRST to his lenders . He will surely welcome the no subsidy regime and expoloit it such that he can repay the loan faster . So sorry people , petrol will sell for no less than 300 naira . Already in abuja fuel sells at filling stations at 195 naira . No one is talking about it . An attendant told me it sells in some places in the NORTH for 300 naira . Yet some unfortunate people will want these destroyers of lives to continue in power because of their selfish interests. God will judge you all . |

blaise26abj:Of all three parties/candidates most likely to come in, who among them is promising anything different from what Buhari has planned? This your rant, to me, is an offshoot of bitter politics gone too far. The problem is a structural problem and not that of party or candidates. The three candidates are prioritizing subsidy removal above corruption, leakages and wastage removal. |

Agbegbaorogboye:You have time for that irredeemable dude. None of the three or four frontrunners in 2023 race has plans of removing corruption, leakages or wastages. They all want subsidy gone. Of the four options available for removal, only the one benefitting good citizens is being lined up for removal. Stealing can continue unabated, VCs of public schools can continue milking the schools, assistant commissioners can continue to have escorts for their wives when going to hair saloon or market. It is a poor law abiding citizen that deserves to spend 1500 on transportation to work and earn 30,000 a month. Very wicked set of souls. The love of money is deeply ruling their lives. 1 Like |

Allisgud:this is not about any right person. It is a structural and societal issue bad policies and values. APC, PDP, and LP are promising to do the same thing with subsidy removal. APC and PDP tried doing same thing in the past. It is a structural issue. God help peoples mind to be open in this sensitive issue. 1 Like |
