The Lagos State government on Saturday said security agencies will find and prosecute the hoodlums who attacked the convoy of Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor), governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the coming 2023 election in the state.

In a statement by Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, sent to POLITICS NIGERIA, the government said it was “shocked” by the video of a group of thugs shooting in broad daylight in Surulere.

Three persons were reportedly killed, while others sustained various degree of injuries when supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and the PDP engaged in violent clash during the Jandor’s political campaign in Surulere area of Lagos State on Friday.

But the Lagos government said the hoodlums are “henchmen of the PDP”.

“Security agencies are investigating the video, which has gone viral on the social media. We believe they will fish out and prosecute the evil actors, who are believed to be henchmen of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We condemn this savagery that has portrayed our state, the safest in Nigeria, in a bad light. That is not who we are; we are civilized and cultured.

“Following advice from competent sources, including elders and respectable Lagosians, we will henceforth shun any forum that may require us being together with PDP and its agents of violence.

“Consequently, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu regrets to announce that he will not be participating at The Platform Governorship Debate of January 29, 2023.

“The Governor holds Pastor Poju Oyemade and the Covenant Christian Church family in high esteem and cherishes future opportunities to engage the congregation and render accounts of his stewardship to them as integral parts of the Lagos electorate.

“We will never be found in the company of those to whom the lives of innocent Lagosians mean nothing. Mr Sanwo-Olu won’t share a podium with them,”
the statement by Omotoso reads.

Tinubu the chief agbero at it again. Very desperate vagabond. I pity those supporting this man.
He said the "safest state in Nigeria". Safest my foot! Lagos that thugs extort people all in the name of agberoism. Lagos that they are making life harder for people everyday. Lies from the pit of hell. I only pity the people supporting these evil people

Agbero politics of killing will never phase out of Lagos until Tinubu is no more active in the game. He will leave a thuggery legacy that will continue to reverberate in the minds of Lagosians in years to come.

I pray for souls of so many innocent souls that got caught up in the thuggery power play. I also pray for young youths who were used and lost their lives in Lagos thuggery power play.

May the soul of Jakande continue to rest in peace due to the peace legacy he left in Lagos. We hope in God to sanitize Lagos and I urge Lagosians to vote Wisely come Feb 25th 2023. We can't continue to watch the unfortunate scene we just saw in Lagos. It's a big shame in this 21st century.

Lol...following his godfather's footsteps...urchins will defend his decisions with their lives...just see as APC has finally want to end political debates in this country...no candidate want to openly say what he wants to do for the people like other developed countries do...later these same urchins want the country to be as developed as US and other western countries. These leaders will keep flying abroad to these developed countries to enjoy with their families and allow urchins to stay in slums defending their irresponsibilities cheesy

Politics 101...

Depriving Jandor some oxygen to potentially shine.

This debate would have given Jandor a good platform for millions of Lagosians, to even listen to him. Many seems not interested in his campaigns, they would have been forced to listen, and possibly, if he performs excellently well, can gain some votes.

Sanwoolu has tactically deprived him of this huge opportunity.

A well calculated move.

Modified: I am not saying shunning debate is morally right..NO. I have only analysed Sanwoolu's move as far as politics is concerned.

Agbero have always been part of South west and Nigeria Politics since Awolowo and Akintola era, it is there before Tinubu and will still be there after Tinubu.

Just like Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu used a serious issue as a security breech within his area of administration as flimsy excuse to avoid a public debate. Like principal, like his protegee.

Cowardice 101🤣🤣🤣🤣

Would the sitting Governor of New York or California dodge election debates because they are scared their rivals would do better thus earning more votes?

Sanwo-Olu is scared of being asked some unfiltered questions, so being an ardent acolyte of his deity, dodging debates is expected.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
