November 10, 2021........

Though CP modified and added more to the post, the one wey concern me was the fair price of 230....think it was selling @160/170 or so... that time.

**Well, I must say here that it's not everything that CP says that I totally agree to........but will agree to the ones that align with my belief too** smiley

CP, no recommendation from you in 2022, try and show up this year o.

I have been pondering our catch-22 debt problem lately. What stops Nigeria from going the way of Ghana? Realistically, without debt restructuring, debt default or debt forgiveness (the three Ds), how do we escape this trap long term?

Most of our revenue is used to service debt cost. We then borrow more money to plug the hole in our budget deficit. This leads to more accrual of debt servicing costs. And then we go again the next year.

Fiscal consolidation seems like another plausible path. However, the landing cost of petrol is around N450/litre, and even with Dangote, we can hope to shave N20-N30 off that price. With our current social structure, it’s doubtful that kind of adjustment can be made without social unrest. Hence, the road seems to lead inevitably to the 3Ds. No wonder the DCM was so spooked by the Finance Minister’s errant comments last year

We all should be worried about Nigeria debt level. It is not looking good at all.
Unfortunately non of the leading presidential aspirants has said much about how he is going to manage the issue. It will definitely be tough and rough.

These are not saving bonds, these pay coupon twice in a year.

I don't have the figures of the current yield on these bonds, but it should be between 15% to 15.4%.

So you should expect coupons of between 750k to 770k twice in a year for the next 14 years on your investment and then get back your N10 million in 2037.

You can also trade your investment in the secondary market or use it as a collateral to get a loan of about N7.5 million to N8 million in order to harness emerging economic and business opportunities

I hope I answered your questions

Yes you did Sir
Thanks for the response
I was also told that the smallest the investment house I spoke to takes is 20 million.
So I have a bit more savings to do

Afterwards I will do this, both things you mentioned
Really appreciate the response

I have a follow up question
How can I get into the secondary market
Is it just taking the documents to my bank as collateral or is there another way?

If you bank with Stanbic IBTC Bank you can buy with N1 million in the primary market or 200k in the secondary market.

After buying through the bank, you can then move the investment to your CSCS account through your Stockbroker

Okay. Am using Meristem
I think I will like to wait and get a larger value into it
That way the returns are big for the duration

Stanbic IBTC is the biggest player in that sector, you can be sure of getting good deal from them. Doing it with a big player will also caalyse the liquidity of your investment when you need to cash out

A new investor coming in possibly.
The volume has increased since mid January 2023.
Universal Insure seems to be working towards meeting the insurance recapitalization.......and possibly re-strategizing to deliver value to shareholders.

** Not statement of facts, just observation. We'll know what's up with time.......but the volumes are significant on the Coy's total share capital, and if it continues, may likely have positive impact**

Always open for a good deal
That would be another registration again
Am already registered with 3 stock broking firms and this would be one more
I will check them out and see how they roll
If the registration process is not to cumbersome for remote people and they are cool. I will go ahead with it

3 reasons why I will be completely quitting the use of Meristem stockbrokers by Q3 of this year.

1. Of all my stockbrokers, only Meristem stockbrokers deduct #50 from the money I deposit into their account, per deposit.
2. Of all my stockbrokers, only Meristem stockbrokers will not allow you to use all your deposited money to buy shares. They will always hold back N100 to themselves. The money is small but the reason is unclear and most likely invalid.
3. Of all my stockbrokers, only Meristem stockbrokers does not have the option of placing an order that can remain valid for 30 days. The maximum number of days that an order can remain in Meristem stockbrokers is 14 days.

I have tried to complain about these three things to them severally, but I think their Management does not care about feedbacks and complaints. Please if their agents are here, tell them ooo.

MorganCapital does number 1, ARM is even worse in regards to number 1, some analog stockbrokers are even worser.
Explain more about number 2,
On Number 3, Kindly post a screenshot of the Stockbroker software Meristem uses. They must use an inferior stockbroking software
