Please Help Me Decide On This Present Job Offer by OLDesign1(m): 4:25pm On Feb 03, 2023
Hello nairalander

Presently I'm working with a company as warehouse officer, we work Monday till Saturday including public holidays. I have worked for about 7months with this company...

While working for this company, I have been applying for jobs with high pays and luckily, I got an invite from a skin care production company as an inventory manager, which I went for the interview and I did very well.

The next day, they called me that im really qualify for the job and they will like me to resume with them quickly..

Mind you, im yet to resign from this said company I'm working it, and when you want to resign you must give them three weeks notice..

This new company pay is ok and it's more closer than this place I'm working and the working days is ok too... Working days is just only Tuesday- Saturday..

Now the problem I'm having with them is that, the lady that called me (don't know if she is the hr ) Said I will b on probation for 2months and I will b paid 70% of my salary that after probation, if I meet up with what the company want, that when I will be paid my full salary and given offer letter...

Which I didn't really buy that idea because where I'm working presently, I was given offer letter before I resumed and all this was stated ( probation period and salary)and I wasn't paid 70% of my salary.. but after my probation for Three months, 5k was added to my salary anyway

NB: ( this new place is just 15k higher than this place I'm working )

But I told the lady that I will only resume if I will been given an offer letter which we didn't concluded better on phone.. but I informed the lady I will resume on Tuesday next week... Because she said I should come and talk to the person in charge..

Now I HV made my decision which I'm yet to tell them.. my decision is that... Untill I received an offer letter, dat when I will resign here and resume with them properly and I won't accept the 70% of the salary either 90percent or I should be paid in full... Because this position I'm applying for I already have over 2yrs experience.

Now the question, is it better I tell them my decision when I resume there on Tuesday since I will be talking to the person in charge or I should just sent the lady my decision via email, so as to communicate with the management and let me know their decision...

Which do you think is best to do..

The lady sent me this as written in the company hard book...

Though the salary I will be paid is above 65k

Is it best when I go there on Tuesday because I have taken permission from the place I'm working presently or I should just sent the lady my decision via email

If that be the case, see if you can have face to face interaction with them.

It is best you go on Tuesday and tell them your work terms.
Please I beg you OP, after the discussion let them put it in writing on your offer letter including the salary before you begin that job. Employers can do anything to get you on the job. Please thread with sense. If they do not agree with your terms, just leave the job. Job security matter a lot. It's not all about the money. I am speaking from experience.

Huge red flags!! ⚠️

1. It is a one man business. Trouble!!
2. He/she will owe you salary, manipulate and abuse you till you question your sanity.
3. No heirarchy nor structure which is obvious in paragraph 2 means ordinary cleaner can endear herself to the boss and Bleep you up.
4. They will not pay you anything no matter what you do. They will always find an excuse to ensure you don't ever meet up to that target and activate the salary.
5. Eventually, you will be fired or worse still, accused of stealing/fraud.

Advice: Stay where you are and keep applying. Don't contact them again, don't negotiate. The more you negotiate the more convinced you will be about their scam.

OR
You can ignore me and return here to create a wailing thread in 2 months time. Just make sure to mention me so I can laugh well.

It is better you communicate your decision when in their presence ohh because an email could prompt a replacement..yes you did very well but nobody is the best, someone who also did almost as good as you might get called to replace you if you pose so much problems from afar

Well, job hunting is very similar to dating. You size them up and they size you up too. Whoever is hiring you at the new place already is aware that you lack integrity by agreeing to quit at short notice without notifying your present employer. Note this: employers see each other as comrades and the present guys are already aware that you won't last long with them since you're like a bird that perch from job to job. So do not be surprised if after quitting that they'll add more stringent conditions such as giving you a flimsy excuse to extend your probationary period. This would be to make sure that you do not quit easily.

To redeem your image, stick to doing the right thing by notifying your present employer after receiving an employment letter. They deserve that honor and time so that they use the window in hiring a replacement for your service. Also, make sure that you negotiate a salary that is worth your effort. 65k or a difference of 15k is barely worth risking your reputation at your present place. You may get a really good job in future that demands the employer contact your present employer as a reference. A bad slip such as what you're about doing could cost you more that whatever you think you will gain from a mere 15k. Good luck.

Communicate your decision to them before you resign from your present place of work.

Best advice

Tell the new company your present issues and hear from them first, cause if you quit like that, legal issues might erupt later on

So be sincere here, if it is yours, definitely it's gonna be yours

15k difference to me is not worth resigning from your current job. You should consider other factors like career progression, growth, your peace of mind and others before making that move. All the best op
