The Govs know that at this point they cannot continue to use the "people" to pursue their selfish aim of vote buying. The people can use the old #200 notes as well as the new notes. But the billions of naira in #1000 and #500 that were kept will become useless and cannot be deployed for vote buying as voters cannot accept monies that no other person or institution(including banks) would accept.

unnecessary to include the N200 note
in the current redesign, because no
serious looter will warehouse N200

Reason the government is pushing the lower denomination into circulation and making the higher one more scarce is beyond my understanding, the other time I saw banks with the coins, which I believe they'll want the citizen to start spending too is unknown, cos realistically all these denominations are invaluable, tell me what I can purchase with 2naira when the least goods in the market cost more than 50naira, I believe this guys are living in some form of simulation, cos how the hell can this ideas solve corruption and inflation if that's the reason for all this shvt

You didn't read the stories well. Even if the governors have the old notes. This article states that the old higher denomination in circulation would still be accepted. Which means they can still use their old notes. Meanwhile, all our top Presidential candidates are majority shareholders in many banks. We would be deceiving ourselves thinking they can't get these new notes easily.

The lower and higher denominations do the same thing.

5 #200 notes is 1 #1000 notes. All na cash and people will have cash for their use.

Suddenly he muscle courage to fight federal government of which he's part of for obvious reasons.
Someone should remind Elrufai that insecurity is still festering in Kaduna.

The very ist paragraph of the article says that only the #200 old notes will be legal tender till April.

The #500 and #1000 notes will no longer be legal tender nor accepted any where in Nigeria.

I kept asking the question: what then is tbe problem again(at least for the "suffering" people)?

By the way, even if they get the new notes (and how many would each of them get sef), the billlions of naira some of them kept for vote buying will be wasted. Is that not a goo thing??

This is what I don't understand. Why exactly are the new notes not being distributed? We already have FX constraint to contend with, now we are having artificial hoarding of local currency. Our leaders are not even giving the economy a chance to experience any significant growth
