What happens to the old 500 and 1000 naira notes still in circulation?
...any one that has the old 500 and 1000 should deposit it at CBN office and CBN will credit the amount deposited in your bank account

How? Do you realize this is anti people policy, because you want to chase a rat you put fire in the whole house? Mark it down this will only cause more Anarchy. Because each state has one central bank each.
How do you expect everyone in a state to go to one bank and return their 1000 and 500 notes. No insults Let's just reason together.

Anoda big protest looming

The whole country is in pain over your policy and this is all you have to say?
Don't mind the idiots hailing him. You made the masses to suffer for so long only to say the #200 remains valid until April. Getting money from the banks and ATMs will remain a problem.

What is the "upper cut" here and how are you benefitting from it?

We are talking about the welfare of nigerians and how nigerians have been suffering and you talking of Tinubu. How will this "upper cut" improve the welfare of nigerians and reduce the suffering on the street?

I thought he said the old 500 and 1000 naira notes will still be redeemable at CBN and other designated points till April 10th,and more old 200 naira notes will be released back into the economy.
How will someone with 100million take it to CBN? What cash business will the person say he is doing?

How is the 500naira and 1000naira in custody of rogue politicians? Who are the rogue politicians? Did they cimmit any crime by keeping such monies? If they did, why should the govt now punish every nigerian instead of going after the so called rogue politicians?

Lexy, this comment of my has not in any way shown be as a government apologist.
We do not argue over whether the money is in the custody of rogue politicians. Similarly, we do not to debate who the rogue politicians are. I am not in support of government punishing innocent Nigerians.

He's not fighting for the masses. You must be stupid than i thought if you believe this policy is going to curb vote buying or it's going to hurt Tinubu in any way. I don't think you know how powerful these politicians are. They already have the new notes stashed somewhere in their various houses.

Why are you pained?

Buhari has said the policy is to curb money politics. Whether Politicians have new notes or not, let the president do his job and stop talking trash

Stop deceiving yourself

Only a few new notes were printed .. The problem is we don’t read ..

The CBN said it’s going cashless … and reducing the cash in circulation ..

You can’t go cashless and still print the same amount of money that left circulation ..

It’s a communication problem that corrupt politicians capitalized on.

According to the president , over 2.7 trillion old notes were retrieved .. I dare you, not up to 500 billion of the new notes have been printed.

The note printed is enough to go round as the cash less policy runs along side

But bank managers and some dubious Nigeria are selling it to highest bidders and our politicians

Vote buying apart because this can't even stop vote buying, he's so deaf to the suffering of the masses concerning the scarcity of Naira.
Very stubborn as a President.
People are angry and ready to direct that aggression on APC candidate, Tinubu.
Buhari didn't mean well for APC angry
Suffering and smiling.
They're Among those Nigerians protesting naira scarcity right?
No matter how sensible, reasonable and justified an issue is, once it's supported by anything close to Tinubu, you all Brainwashed Obi supporters will go against it even at your detriment.

It'll be dawn on you when you queue for hours to get #2000 under hot sun

God bless you my broda,Buhari is making vote buying very easy for these politicians because the said 200 naira cannot come into circulation enough before next week Saturday, people will still stand on long queues everyday to get deir hard earned money because ATMs won't be loaded with d said 200naira,he didn't address d issue of cash scarcity,He said dey have retrieved 80percent of the old notes in circulation why not allow the remaining 20percent to coexist with the new notes and gradual withdraw dem between now and the april 10th?Shebi na the 20percent way dey outside nai politicians want take by vote?

If Buhari was serious with vote buying, he would have started in 2019 when the vice president was in markets in major cities sharing trader moni. I hate hypocrisy.
The old 200 notes would still find their way to the politicians while the ordinary masses continue in their Lamentations.

God bless you for not forgetting so soon. Even international bodies then raised alarm that TraderMoni was vote buying. Anyways, the statement is still useless since people can still redeem old notes. Basically if it is true that politicians already have old notes at home as some fools are been made to believe those notes will still be spent for elections and would be redeemable in banks. There's still something they are not telling us.
