Cos people stereotype the south as educationally disadvantaged .
MS regarded as a ‘3rd world’ state in the US in education but Naija folks dont care. Lol. US college degree is an equalizer…employers dont look at your school once you are qualified and capable of doing the job.

Indeed, Nigerians are right not to care, because the US employers don't care much either. Pull at your wigs and go crazy, trying to keep up with the academic pace of these big schools and in the end, the fortune 500 are camping at these disadvantaged schools and looking for diversity in their numbers.

I have zero support from my family when it comes to southern schools lol. They dislike those southern states like anything.

I just applied there on my own volition. We'll see how it goes sha

Unless there's much more to what is holding you, I would say run with it. I will not ordinarily advice anyone to consciously choose to take on the intense programs at these big schools, when you'd end up coming out and be perceived as exactly the same in today's job market. I know one medical student at Yale right now, endlessly looking for a Public health internship as I know another at GSU, who's been asked to share postings with her friends. Just getting into an accredited program in the US, should be top priority.

Okay. Thank you

America is America, forget that thing. People would even go to Alaska. Finish your program and if you don't like the place, relocate. Just enter first. For all you know, you might even enjoy the simplicity and low cost of living in the South.

Best!

Sounds like a good deal! Was the full ride based on GPA or SAT score

Yes.. cos grads from cheaper southern schools have waaay better advantage in negotiating salary than grads from expensive northern schools. Employers dont pay you more $$ because of your school if you have the same qualification

Asking on behalf of someone. This individual also received full funding worth 43,900 USD annually in another great school which I posted here. I'm not in Nigeria.. Still Nigeria remains our home which we must build.

Shalom.

Don't pay until you're granted visa and in the school physically.

Ask him/her to reach out to
African student association. Ask about school environment, learning and yes… the big elephant.. the professor who’s got the grant. Some of them are really bad and hostile.. African students are going to keep it 100% with him/her

Indeed, some professors are nightmares... PhD funding is very competitive. Are you a Doctoral student too?

Nope. I no like book like that lol. My friend was churning out research papers/results… and this wicked professor/mentor was giving all at the credits to his preferred oyibo candidates.. pure intellectual theft! My personality isn't built to tolerate codified servitude like that.

My sister just returned from an interview....heartbroken. We are sad right now and she's still in tears oh.

She was scheduled for 6.30 am today via email oh after she has done her medicals last week successfully at VI, only for them to tell her that lagosiv.state.gov hasn't received it yet from the medicals. They said it's only when they receive it from them they can interview her. (see oh...even after they have scheduled her for an interview oh). We quickly sent a mail to them, they said they'll reply in 2-3 days time...can you imagine. She has booked a flight already next week....what kind of rubbish is this one again.

Please if someone has a reasonable solution or suggestion...I am hungry for it now to encourage her. She's been crying since she came back oh.

Wait. How can someone book flight without getting her visa?

Good Evening pls can anyone put me through the process to applying for admission in Canada or UK.

Someone told me I will need 17million which I honestly can't afford. pls give me details on the amount I will be needing as well
Thank you

You should be able to afford it. Going abroad is a must o. It's obvious none of you can be successful in Nigeria without setting foot in the abroad.

You can sell your house, business, etc. Offer your wife up for sex with another man to raise More Money. Sell your children, cheat the system, steal funds. The most important thing is you're in the US

Your last statement is fundamentally wrong. You keep saying shit about your country's education. If NIGERIA didn't offer you free education, cheap economy and freebies, will you open your mouth on a day like this to say this shit Yet, y'all carry #50million go abroad to study. The question is if you had used this kind of Money to pay tuition in Nigeria, don't you think our universities can also get to the level of financial independence where they'll be able to do meaningful research as well?

And about your last statement, so many universities in the Midwest America are nothing to write home about.

Mofos. If it is the man asking, I'm sure you won't advise him this way. You'd probably advise him to find a way of bringing his wife and kids along. But now it's a woman, and as we all know, women are not known to help a man, you're giving her advise that'd probably scare her and make her think twice of bringing her husband along.

Your advise seem harmless, but has propaganda undertone. I can see through it.
What a dingbat powered by sophisticated ignorance!
An F2 visa holder is classified as a dependent whether male of female. US law doesn't care about your conspiracies and beliefs
