School rank and school location.

What I believe is that it doesn't matter. I'm not getting married to the school or to the state of Mississippi. You go, spend your four years, perform as well as you can academically and find ways to network and connect with people. You can always move out of the state when you're done and there will always be grad school opportunities.

Unfortunately, all this one is just grammar to my family. By going to Mississippi I might as well be going to Syria.

Which could be why you got the funding..because lots of people seemingly see there as a wasteland. Lots of school environs are not always as bubbly like the typical big cities, as people imagine though.
As I de like this sha, I fit go anywhere for Alaska. No time to waste time.

Niger State in Nigeria is actually way better, interesting, lively and Better positioned than some States in the Midwest America. Except that Mississippi surely has 24hrs light, which you're paying for with your nose anyways. If you're paying like that in Nigeria, you'll probably have 24hrs light too. States like Mississippi for example. The State is dead.
Story.. the only thing Niger state has better than most midwestern states is weather. This comparison is out of place

Yes, along with other finance related majors such as economics or business
This list has been on for years now . Only business analytics is on the list… unless you mean business and finance grads from top Ivy schools starting with $70k/yr… but most business/finance majors from private and public unis don't with start with such pay.

Even if I enter that kind state, na to transfer as soon as I can. For someone planning to be a Stay home dad, those places have fewer opportunities and more economically disadvantaged people. Happy new month ma.

Also, big cities have big challenges for poor Naija students.. Cost of living alone can send you back to Naija. Funded students with RA/TA can actually save $$ better than RAs/TAs living in NYC/Boston/CA/Chicago.

Not true. Most RA/TA have stipends commensurable with the COL

Not entirely true. Every dept RA/TA pay is not the same in school . I have friends who attended southern and northern schools…with RA/TA/Post Doc positions .. Some southern students got paid more and saved more. Sometime the COL is 3k-5k of $$ while rent difference btw a southern like MS and NYC might be up $600-$1000/mon. So your net saving is actually zero or negative.

You don't have any problem. Prepare well for your interview and go to the embassy to demonstrate to them that you are a genuine student and that you are really going to the US to study.

You stand a very good chance at the embassy. Forget about your previous rejections for MS, a fully funded PhD stands a very good chance at the embassy.

Best of luck!

No two experiences are the same, but how would you feel to know that HRs were/are always the first to get laid off in this recession? Talent hunt is chic, but delicate. 'Cos when a company is not hiring, then they are basically just taking up space..
