I don't have many encounter with rats, except during my NYSC service in Katsina state, my room then was always under visitation by this bandit of a rat, the thing never let me sleep in peace, all the rice and beans in my room were decimated, but thank God e never enter where my documents are, but my foods are never safe with this terror rat.

Na so I jejely by one fried fish, remove it's inside, rub am with rat poison, place am in one strategic position outside my room.

The rest is history, it's on the third day I saw the crazy idiot's remain in one side of our compound.

Some are even bold that they will be eating your food in your presence and will be looking at you as if you are disturbing their peace or you are sharing rent together.

Once visited a house with rats, omo wetin my eyes see shock me o, rats were playing in the same parlor i was sitting... They were playing catch ny tail and see😭😭 i be like na so una dey live with rats I jejely carry myself go house..

Yes you're right I think keeping a cat is the best, the sound repellent sounds keeps them off for some time but they're sure to return occasionally

I have phobia for rats and I was keeping chicken feeds in my apartment then, there were so many rats in the building because of that, then I brought a cat home , it killed 15 rats the first day, by the time the cat used a week in the house , I see no rats anymore

One lovely evening, my mum asked me to get her some pant buckets 🪣 in our store the place was dark, as soon as i opened the door the first thing that came out was a big rat, u won see me that day 😀😄...

This frustrating rodent is presently dealing with us in the home.

I almost had an head on collision with a rat in school when I was sleeping. TV antenna cable strapped around curtains was tied close to the head of my roommate bed bunk which happens to be Rats shortcut overhead bridge across the room and wardrobe. People avoid that corner like mad.
Got so tired at night, jumped on his bed, my head facing up the cable and resting on the curtains and was fast asleep. Like play sleep paralysis catch me while having nocturnal lagophthalmos (sleeping with eyes partially open). Na so this 2 big rats where communicating and dancing up and down on the cable above my head but tiredness and sleep paralysis could not make me move an inch. The other rat jumped out of the window, while his partner ran furiously with jet speed straight down between the eyes of my head at close range and was about an inch to jam me. Immediately I jumped out of the bed like a maniac. Everything went silent. I thought I was imagining things or dreaming. The rats were nowhere to be found. As I tried to play out the events from my head I could hear them salvage the contents of my locker. The photographic relay of the scary rat head is still fresh on my mind till today.
Those things are beasts. No wonder Elephants are startled when they show up. And this shrew of a thing that is called asin in Yoruba. If that thing should walk on your leg when it is dark, the shock is unimaginable.

My sister had her send forth some years back and there was a lot of fried meat left my mother decided to leave the meat open to avoid it getting spoiled. Lo and behold we woke up the next morning and almost all the meat was gone,we started suspecting each other in the house,not knowing it was the activity of these tiny rats. They packed and hid the whole meat behind a locker in my mother's room.

It was a long time ago. Those tiny ones that don't grow past the size of a cockroach. They were nibbling on the money I kept in my old shoe rack for easy reach when ever I needed cash. Na so I commot the money from there.

There's always 2 sides to a story.
However, this short one is between the human and animal kingdom.

I have had the history of being a tormentor to the rat kingdom everywhere my parents relocated to.
I have a feeling they call a family meeting because of my brutality to their brothers, sisters, children and parents.
I have killed several rats and lost count.
From catching them alive and injecting them with kerosene, water, garri water etc till they die to crushing them into pieces with instruments.
I did them strong things. 😂

This notable story is about the time I repented from killing rats; that was during my early undergrad days.
I suspect watching National Geographic station was contributory.
I then had a rat that sneaked into my room.
I decided to let it be. It became so comfortable that it sneaks out to watch TV whenever I put it on. Only runs away when I decide to standup (for fear of me trying to kill it, I guess).

I literally started feeding it when I am eating by throwing pieces of fish or meat towards where it stays. Anyway, I ensured it was only one (before rat go start kingdom for my self-contained apartment).
This rat gradually became so comfortable that the mumu thing will want to welcome my visitors (sneaks out to check who I am talking with) 😂😂😂

I'm not a man of love so didn't name it before I go loose focus.

Mouse are smaller. A baby rat can be closer to an adult mouse in body length.

Those mice can even eat your stuffs while you are close by!

I’ve not seen a rat since 2021

I had so many of those creatures when I moved into a new apartment, including cockroaches and mosquitoes, I was able to eliminate rats and cockroaches but mosquito is something I have done almost everything to keep away but it's not working.. I'm only here to see if someone can provide fresh idea or solution on how to eliminate mosquitoes.. repellent will work for only a day and the next day you will discover battalion of mosquitoes, have used sniper, hypo, flits, have bought mosquito killer lamp, put nets on my doors and windows, yet it's not working.

I 8 rats!
