Hello Everyone, I need to be clearified on something. I went for my first Visa interview with funding of $20k and deficit of $50k (private university) but the interview wasn't successful. I recently got accepted into a state university in US with funding of $15k and deficit of $33,500. Please should I continue with the private school or should I change to a different school. I don't know if it will complicate things for me.

My 2nd rejection offer just came in this morning...
I don't know what could be wrong with my application. I'm applying for Msc Chemistry.

Gurus in the house, please help me

Thank you all for your concern, empathy, encouragement and advice.

I just woke up this morning and saw a congratulatory letter of offer of admission from the remaining school I had applied to.
All thanks to God.

Gurus in the house, kindly guide me on this, as extracted from the letter..

Your tuition classification is Out of State (International for F or J1 visa). If you would like to apply for in-state tuition consideration, please complete the application within the next thirty days, but no later than the first day of classes for the term in which you are admitted. If you have questions, please reference our website or email

Please note that an earned baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, or international equivalent, verified from official transcripts is a requirement for all graduate students. You will need to submit your undergraduate transcript(s) as well as graduate degree transcript(s) prior to the last day to drop courses in your first semester. For international students, please review your requirement here. Failure to submit your official transcripts will lead to your admission being rescinded and courses being dropped.

It's at University of Oklahoma. It's per year. Congratulations to you
Mine is actually Oklahoma state university. I am not sure about the standard of living in Oklahoma city but you can make enquire about your school in Reddit because that how I know a lot about my school. Also note that your stipend will be taxed probably within $200 - $400 per month.
Congratulations to you too

I hope to find an early visa interview date. The earliest I've seen is November of this year.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Olawrites: 12:40pm On Mar 11, 2023
Oh God I need your favor at this point of my life. I have 5 Msc admissions already but waiting for assistantship from my various departments.

I can't imagine being in Nigeria for another 1 year just because of unable to get assistantship. God knows depression will set in if I can't make anything out of the 5 schools that admitted me, after all the effort.

I will wait for my schools to decide but if they didn't give I will still find way and move.

I have booked my visa appointment for May already.
Account statement intact.

I'm using this post as a point of reference, and I'll quote it when I get an offer to thank God.

Assistantship will come, I believe in God's miracle sad

I would go with my B visa and do change of status from there. Since you have comfortable place to stay go and wait it out.
My opinion though

Check library, testing center, hostels, maintenance, administrative offices etc
These things are usually posted on career page

Depends on your finances. Do you actually have the funds to cover a $50k deficit? Can you prove it without doubt to the VO?

Is your program a Master's? A lot of Master's official offers do not usually come with funding (some do). Funding usually comes in a separate correspondence from your department.

Since you said your program has, I'll advise you keep calm a bit. Then if nothing shows by mid to late next week, you may send in a letter to enquire.
