Pulling down toll gates... How does that generate funds for Lagos state?

I see that 90% of his plans is about making expenses.
All I see here is the same old populist-socialistic wishful thinking that has landed places like Venezuela in financial disarray. He's basically promising to explode the state's expenditures even as he destroys the most effective means by which the state raises revenues!

I'll give the guy credit for at least having the courage to put forward a concrete manifesto with detailed points that can be criticised, but all I see here is that he couples his evident lack of governmental experience with a non-existent understanding of economics and public finance. It's not enough to cry "youth" and "change" if the end result is to turn Lagos into a dysfunctional basketcase, which is all this political programme could ever hope to achieve.

It all makes me wonder: why did Peter Obi hand-select this guy to be the LP candidate in Lagos, rather than holding a proper primary where rival programs and track-records could be scrutinised, and someone with actual experience and understanding of the real world could have won out? Either Obi has little understanding of economics and finance himself, or (more likely) he didn't have enough respect for voters to consider that they might actually care about such matters, and simply opted for the candidate he felt most personally comfortable with ...

There is Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue that is statutorily mandated to collect the revenue. Alfa-beta is just a busy body created to siphon the money.

If they need additional resources, they can even pouch staff from Alfa-beta company to come work for the government.

Hmmm deep thought.

My dear brother, he was once the Chairman of Lagos State Property Development Corporation.

He was once the acting commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget.

He was once the pioneer chairman of Lagos State Security Trust Fund and many more.

Alphabeta has no relevance whatsoever. There is nothing Alphabeta claims to do that LIRS cannot do. It is just a conduit pipe for corruption.

Like I explained, LIRS would need to massively beef up workforce to do what Alpha Beta is currently doing. That will gulp up whatever savings you think would have been made. Also, it is a mirage to think that Alpha Beta makes N5bn every month. According to the ex-MD of Alpha Beta, total commission earned by the company was N150bn over a 10 year period. That's about N1.25b every month.

I agree! However the devt of roads are important and in my previous comment on this thread I questioned why GRV will think of deploying a whooping 10k vehicles on already congested roads and suggested that he thinks of water transportation. LASG is surrounded with water…invest heavily in that, make it secure and safe and see the roads decongested in due time. Also the railway is another option to explore but roads absolutely important to accessing communities/further devt of those inner places.
Both of your suggestions are excellent, and it's incredible that they never occurred to a candidate who has made so much of his supposed urban planning experience. This only goes to show that it would have been easy for the LP to come up with a much stronger challenger if they had bothered to hold open primaries rather than allowing Obi to coronate someone who has nothing to offer beyond financially-illiterate populism.

6. 10,000 vehicles. You want to bring more cars to Lagos. Is Lagos traffic not enough for your people? You want 10,000 more vehicles so that everyone should kuku buy a bed and be sleeping in traffic

The plan is to make Lagos a hub for car manufacturing, and he can only do this if he gives automobile companies an incentive to move their plants to Lagos.

For those asking how he is going to generate the money.
Cancelling the conduit pipes through which the god father's are paid with Lagos money is enough to achieve all this.
Many people don't know how much the state spends in running and maintaining the corrupt political structure in Lagos.
That's why they were making mouth with structure because they know how much they have invested now OBI have proved to them that structure is useless.

Lol... talking from ipob training camp.

Everything you've said is true and should be obvious to any thinking person with experience of governance in Nigeria. The alternative to Alpha Beta isn't some imaginary corps of incorruptible, highly professional civil servants, but the very same crooked, indolent public employees whose constant demands for bribes will put the supposed "corruption" of Alpha Beta to shame. All one has to do is look at Lagos before Alpha Beta, or any of the other states not using the services of firms like it, to see that this is indeed the case.

The thing is, though, that most of the people criticising Alpha Beta aren't doing so out of any real concern about good governance, but out of hatred of Tinubu, who they are accustomed to blaming for any and everything that goes wrong in their lives. As far as these people are concerned, a candidate who destroys Tinubu's power-base is worth championing, even if the cost of doing so is wrecking the finances and livability of Lagos - especially as so many of them on here don't even live in Lagos in the first place, and will therefore never have to bear any of the consequences. That's why they are happy to spout nonsense about how the imaginary "N5bn a month" being "stolen" by Alpha Beta will somehow pay for all the extravagant spending promises being made by GRV - they don't care whether it's true or not, only that it fools enough voters to give their stalking horse a victory.

Credit Vivour for putting issues on the table, though some of them are outright outlandish. His opponents must come out and debate the feasibility and counter his proposals.

We must shift the focus from ethnic bashing which is in reaction to Igbo greed that Lagos is within reach.

Lagos is no longer for SALE.

Focus must shift to Doherty and Adediran "Jandor" and compare their own proposals.

But Alpha Beta Must Go!

Go back to school to understand how inflation work. Blabla, nah UK wey dey pay 11pounds per hour no get money to triple it right?
lol see who dey tell me about school to study inflation. Lol see Ehen listen let me tell u what u do not know..
1) Paying people more for no reason in Whatsoever they are doing is what causes inflation, right now they are being Underpaid.
2) When you Increase Wage and increase Their Productivity along side, there will be no room for inflation.
3) inflation Happens regardless if you increase wages or not, wages increment isn't the only factor that causes inflation... RN goods and services are more expensive as a result of inflation yet the workers salary remains stagnated... Which brings me to no4
4) the UK u just mentioned has their minimum wage Fluctuating repeatedly along side the economy, always being increased along side, the last increment was 9.7% which was in April 2022. And there is a projection to review and increase it again this coming April...

See bro don't talk to me about the economy or inflation, I know this thing like the back of my hand coz I did a post graduate study in Global Economics and Management, I didn't just study I explored practically with it for 4years before dumping it... If I tell you he can do it, he can do it, lagos purse has too many hands in it that need to be cut off.... Even if national minimum wage is 100k I want you to know Nigerians are still Underpaid compared to global standard

1. You can't increase salary without budget considerations. Have you spoken with the Accountant General, Finance Ministry, is there budgetary allocations for this? Does this person understand governance in anyway?

I agree - he has no idea how much debt Lagos has. However what is this #5bn with alpha he is talking about to cancel . You can’t cancel a contract legally without penalties.
I would have said increase by a certain percentage instead of a figure . Besides that I like his vision .

Couldn't agree more. GRV is a no-no. Lagos is not a sand beach where experimental sand castles can be built. One wrong policy can set us aback years of hardwork and billions of Naira.
