You would capture same day unless you didn't go with the required documents.

Hi guys. I've read through a lot of the replies here and gathered enough information to start this application myself as #teamDIY at the Alausa passport office. Let me add that I did my application myself and paid online, printed out all reqd docs and completed the necessary guarantor forms, court stamps and photocopies requested. If you're #TeamDIY the printed appointment slip will guide you accordingly.

First of, the information on Alausa office here needs updating; the processes have changed at the station. Please take note below:

1. If you are #TeamDIY don't bother going to open a file BEFORE your appointment date. You may be turned back or outrightly rejected. The officers will check your slip; don't try to outwit them

2. Got here around 6.30am and waited to be let in. After filing some attendance book at the security gate I was given a tally containing a number for the capturing queue

3. Every fresh applicant was ushered into the reception to be attended to by officers on a table seated on the right of the entrance. Copies of docs as well as originals checked, I was requested to purchase a white file outside and the file was filled with my docs. They filled my details in a register and I was instructed to proceed to Room 12 ( Servicom room) where my file was inspected, questions about my guarantor asked and my docs were signed off ready for further inspection

4. I exited this room and returned the file to the first inspection table for onward transmission to another room (Unknown). Here they inspected the files again and confirmed all was accurate and ready. I think this office is where the NIN is confirmed and that all details are intact

5. I went to wait in the waiting room until my name was called up to receive my file after returning the tally I was given. The next is another long wait for the actual biometrics capture.

6. My turn came to capture after several nodding and napping and lots of "the network is down". Finally had my biometrics done around 4.35pm and got my enrollment slip for passport collection

So the process has changed. Forget all you know about Alausa. Go ahead and #DIY! A guy paid some officer 95k and sat beside my to wait for capturing after getting here before 9am. If you're not ready to shell out over 180k for the so-called express service, don't listen to anyone and do it yourself

Cheers all

Thanks for this information.

Pls I'm also planning to do at Alausa DIY.

I have 2 questions....must the guarantor filled the part II of the guarantor's form?

cos the people I've been seeing to stand in as guarantor for me seems not to be cool with declaring their assets.

The second question will the NIN verification be done same day as the capturing day. I checked online and my application has been on pending for NIN verification for some days.

Thanks as you reply.
Congratulations on getting your passport.

Life update:

Finally picked up my passport yesterday evening at the Alausa office. I got there at 12 noon and left just before 5pm.

Here are my observations:

1. If you plan to go for collection at the Alausa office, go according to the collection days indicated here on the thread. Your letter should correspond with the right day of the week

2. If you are DIY don't bother going very early. You can plan to get there between noon and 1pm. They scheme their practices to attend to their "special applicants" and arrangee applications earlier in the day. If you go too early you will waste the entire day waiting.

Prepare food and drinks for the wait o.

They make it a point to attend to DIY later in the day. It's not a set in stone rule but this is what I observed

3. If you captured in January 2023, wait till April 2023 if you're DIY

4. You can collect on behalf of someone provided there is a familiar relationship. If you can talk your way out of paying anything pls do but if you feel offended you can find the PCOs office to lodge a complaint

More importantly be confident that you can DIY this process. You don't need to pay anyone higher than the normal charges. You're just funding someone's flex life. Like I've said earlier, if you're not ready to part with about 150k for express then don't pay anything other than 26k for your passport. Both I who did DIY and people who paid 20k more than normal charges we all waited hours in line to collect. There was no special attention. This special assistance is reserved for VIPs (people who pay way way more) now.

In order to do DIY just arm yourself with proper information; it's all here on this thread. Search, ask questions and learn. I got all I needed in this thread. Then play the waiting game of 3 months for collection. It may be less depending on some circumstances but be prepared to wait that long. If you're in a big hurry then be ready to shell out big. Anything lower than 100k will make you wait as long as I did; don't let anyone tell you lies.

Happy applications everyone!

My collection date is 1st of May, do you think I should go on this date.

Yes. But make sure you go early so you can be attended. I had similar issue, and had to even go 1week abi 2weeks later. There'll only be issue if you go before your appointment date.

Okay. Thank you.

I told my guarantor to leave that space blank. When I got to the NIS office, everything was verified and I captured.
NIN verification was done by them. As long as your details are correct, you don't have any problem.

I’m going for my capturing at Alausa tomorrow,i hope it will be as straightforward as described here and i will come back with testimony.
#DIY

I Left home 6:35 took an uber, arrived at 6:50 and met a very long queue outside, i I walked up to an officer to ask him about the capturing then he told me to join the queue that a board will be brought out soon so we can check for our names.
Then the board was brought out with names pasted on it that was about 7:15 then the queue started moving because people were checking their names and moving inside.
After a while on the queue, someone passed an information that online diy should be one a different queue, it was shorter but wasn’t moving because our names weren’t on any board
One of the hawkers said they start agent queue by 7:30 & diy by 8 cause we’re fewer that a different officer would come out to check our documents and attend to us (I bought brown file from him for 500(brown because it was reissue, white file is for fresh application)
An officer finally came around 8:15 and started checking documents he said he’s going to attend to us in batches of 10 each
A guy was sent back because he was born in 1996 and came with attestation of birth certificate instead of birth certificate (although he came back around 10ish) i guess he was able to go get the document
Another man was sent back because he didn’t have certificate of origin
The officer also asked some minors in front of me a lot of questions about their mum and dad(even though their mum was with them)
Then my turn(i was with my underaged sister) then he asked for our mum, i told him she was on her way he gave me back our documents and said when our mum gets there he will attend to my sister so I explained to him that it’s not a fresh application that it’s renewal we came for and my mum even wrote an application letter for my sister, when he heard renewal he said ok then just asked if I have photocopies of our passport datapage front and back i said i do and also asked if i have file i said do, he said good that i will be the one to open my sister’s file so he took us (first 10) in and told my sister and other minors to go upstairs to sit
P:s- if more than one person comes from the same family, he will take only one person to the file opening section and ask every other person from that family to go wait in the hall upstairs.
Got in 8:35 and sat at the servicom desk
There were 2 officers at the desk, the man and another woman , the started arranging my file at 8:58
Finished Arranging my file at 9:03 and she told me to go to room 12(servicom/processing room)
(Renewal doesn’t require much documentation just a copy of your documents)
We were like 5 on the queue in front of room 12
I Entered 9:12, here some of the documents in the file were signed and stamped
I Was asked to take the file back to the servicom desk and from there i was asked to go wait in the hall upstairs.
After a while I stepped out to get snacks and drink and came back to the hall to continue the waiting game(this is where the serious waiting is)
At a point a guy came in to hawk shawarma and chicken n chips (lol),another woman came in to sell tiger nut, fruit drinks and fruit salad
At 11:50, an officer came in to call people (agent people) with babies and minors for capturing
Finally he came back at 12:30 with diy files to call us for capturing ,minors were given preference, and asked to be in front of queue
Then he gave us our files and took us downstairs to sit according to how we were called , so minors were at one side , adults at the other side(i was with the minors because of my sister)
Then he moved us to the main hall and sat that was 12:38 at this point, agent and diy applicants were together
Then we continued waiting for our turn

{One lady paid agents to process, and the agent typed her application letter instead of writing by hand, the lady had to rewrite she was just cursing the agent (i could feel her frustration)}

Then at 1:17, an officer came to take us upstairs to the minor capturing room, then he collected our files and took them out, the agent people’s file was given to an officer in the capturing room fr NIN verification as she was verifying she was returning the files to the owners and they were being captured , after a while (1:43) an officer brought back our(diys) files and gave it back to us(guess they went to verify it in a different place)
At 1:58pm we finally captured and collected our enrollment print out (date of collection is may 19)
I left the passport office 2:08pm

Thanks to all the tips i got from here, really got me prepared.

Finally did my data capturing at passport office Alausa today. My observations

A) If you’re team DIY, you can go as early as you can but they won’t attend to you until they have called in people that paid through agent

B) If you want to stamp your guarantor’s form, make sure it’s the commissioner of oath that signs it, not those road side (NOTARY) people, else they will ask you to go and reprint. To be on a safer side, once you get to the passport office (the Alausa one o), there’s a judiciary court nearby. Just go there to stamp it (#500) or you can patronize those printing people outside the passport office sha (They charge #3000 or #2500).

C) Ensure that you go with all the necessary documents stated on the appointment slip with their originals (very compulsory).

Got to the passport office 6:15am left 5:10pm

My wonderful people,

Just want to share my experience at Abeokuta office. though I went there on Wednesday, two dayz ago. I go there very late(1:10pm) cos of the terrible traffic that lasted for about 4hours from Lagos.
Well, when I got there, I met an officer and I told him I came for capturing. He asked me who was helping me and I replied God and myself. He just showed me the office in charge. My documents were checked and I bought a file for#200. After everything the officer rechecked my state of origin certificate and told me I will not be able to capture that day cos I need an attestation letter from the king cos my local government of origin is closer to boarder. He also stated some other local government government like that that will need such letter. I will advised those whose local government shares boarder with other country to take note.

I also heard the officer telling other applicants that processing fee has been introduced since about a month which is #4000 and people are paying. The officer's boss returned my file with my documents inside that I should come back as soon as I get the letter.

I have gotten the letter now.

Apart from the above, a friend of mine that captured at Ikoyi told me she went with a letter of recommendation from a Brigadier General and the capturing was easy. She said VIP was written on her file. Planning to get that too when next am going for mine at Abeokuta.

It was really a wonderful experience!

I've collected my Passport at the Ibadan NIS centre and think I should share my experience too.

Centre: Ibadan
Date Registered: Sept. 9th
Date Captured: Nov. 7th (about 12 weeks)
Passport Page and Year: 32 Pages and 5 years
Cost: NGN 25k plus 1k gateway charges
General experience: fair.

Capturing experience

I got there Friday the 4th (the working day before my capturing day, Nov 7th) to submit my file. They received it and asked that I should come back on d-day. I asked 'bout doing account verification and others but they were vexed and changed it for me. So I left.
When I went for capturing on Nov 7th, I went to the same office and collected my file which has been prepared by them.
Content: Appointment slip, Registration slip, Guarantor form (filled and stamped with guarantor passport attached), two passport photographs, photocopy of guarantors ID (I used his NIN), my Age declaration affidavit, photocopy of my Origin Certificate and my NIN slip photocopy. Note: I went with the original of my NIN and Local Government origin certificate.
All the processes were directed and information was provided on the steps.
I went as early as 7 am and left around 4 pm to 5 pm.
Advice: Go there early to do the necessary things but be prepared for a full day if you are DoingIY. But ensure you submit your documents before the capturing date for Ibadan, I said Ibadan coz I don't know about others. Ensure you do not have issues, that's where they might treat you unfairly. I remember I asked one officer 'bout the month I would get mine but he asked me to go and ask from the online I registered, that's cold.

Collection Experience

I went there around 9 am with the slip they gave me and met a 'crowd' but I left for other stuff. I came back around 2 pm.
They'd come and collect the slips; they'd check and bring the passports if already produced or return the slips if otherwise; they'd call names of those whose passports were ready to follow them to the issuance room for thumb printing.
So, it was when they came to call names that they collected other slips, mine included.
They came and called me around past 3 pm and I went for the thumb printing and collected my passport.

So, I believe Ibadan is comparably fair based on reports from some centres.

Register early to get an early capturing date. As of today (March 24th), the earliest date stated on the immigration website is May 29th for the Ibadan centre. Ibadan dey get customers o

Shout out to everyone who has provided information and shared ideas and advice here.

Affidavit of birth would do if only you're born before 1992. Get the attestation of a birth. The attestation of a birth certificate has the same legal effect as the birth certificate. The first step is to visit the NPC ( National Population Commission) office and request for the data form for attestation of the certificate for those born from 1992.
