If Nigerian men stop patronising prostitutes, prostitution would reduce drastically. Hook-up does not exist in a vacuum. There is someone out there demanding for the service. Another has to supply it. How come you people are yet to address the issue from the roots? Are you people not the ones who defend side chicks online? Chant that men are polygamous by nature? Good afternoon.. I know most of y'all have seen and commented on this thread plus this particular thread is not getting the views and facts it should... mostly bashers plus it's an old thread

I have seen most comments blaming the men for prostitution and I think it's an actual fact., I mean that's true to some extent.

Meanwhile, I think girls from poor home should be allowed to do whatever they want to do to survive while in campus without condemning them.. I'll have to explain this..
While in school, I've seen poor religious and decent girls drop out of school just because they don't want to get involved in it and I have also seen girls with numerous sugar daddies graduate with flying colors and even working through connections they got from those men.

I think prostitution is really bad when you have the vital things to survive and you're into it because you want to slay or when you have a supportive parent that are capable, but you're not satisfied with what they provide for you.

As a girl from a poor home, I knew what I passed through in school till I decided to have sugar daddies after 4 failed attempts of starting a petty businesses, things became alot easier ... Currently, I'm doing so fine and earning money on my own without sugar daddies..

If you wanna be a prostitute, fine... But making it seem as though poor girls have no other option than to have sex for money is plain stupid... The idea is degrading... As though women are nothing more than their bodies. What happened to working smart? Petty trade? There are many options to choose from. Becoming a prostitute is your choice, and you would deal with the consequences (including stigmatization) and have no one else to blame but yourself... Take responsibility. It's not the fault of men, or society, or the economy.

They don't have the money nor the business know-how with which to start what you call petty trading— many probably figured out that having yet another petty trader in each hostel room means they will likely not get anywhere fast—, and since there are no factories, companies, etc., around campuses to hire them, they resort to doing what they know there is great demand for and pays well. You would need to build lots of companies to handle most of the needs around campuses where the majority of the students are from poor homes abeg.

5. As for the place of society and the economy, well, do the maths abeg! With over 90% of the population living below the poverty line and with unofficial unemployment as high at least at over 30%, what do you think could be the major reason why many of these girls resort to prostitution as a way out of poverty? Do you think they love sex so much?
