My name is Ayomide ,obviously a Yoruba man. I’m a Christian and I have no political affiliation. This should not be important to clarify but that’s the current state of the country nowadays. I’ve spent most of life in the southwest , so my opinion will be shaped only by what I’ve experienced in the southwest alone.

I’m utterly disgusted and disappointed with the current state of affairs in our country today. How did we get it so wrong ? We’ve decided to pick sides and fight each other based on affiliations that mean nothing in the greater scheme of things for politicians that look at us as statistics and not people.

I supported Peter Obi because I wanted a breathe of fresh air , because Tinubu is obviously too old and physically unfit to withstand the rigors of being president. I’m not sure he can steer us in the right path in this ever evolving world as befits a country as great as Nigeria. He obviously belongs to an older generation and he doesn’t seem to have the capabilities to “converse” ( for the lack of a befitting word )with other world leaders of the world. That is my personal opinion that I’m entitled to, my constitutional right. I did not vote Obi because I’m Igbo or because I’m a Christian.

But Tinubu has won.

I’ll say this to the Igbos that are justifiably angry and bitter and have been insulting Yorubas ( I know a lot of Igbo people that have not insulted anyone and they have my respect and thanks and such people is exempt from this) , They are bad , tribalistic people in all tribes. Painting us all with the same brush will only create enemies where they was previously none.

I’m Yoruba. And when you attack the Yoruba tribe as a whole , you attack me as well and my natural inclination is to pick a side. Let this narrative that all Yoruba hate all Igbo die and let us all move on from this. Old people fight is not young people fight. Why are we inheriting our grandfathers beef ? The people that did evil against the Igbos are long dead and facing their judgement. This generation is meant to be different. Let it be so and let us have one Nigeria instead of a divided one
Peace

First of all, Tinubu did not win. He stole someone's victory.

Second, inductive reasoning is bad. Any Igbo who condemns the entire Yoruba is stupid, likewise any Yoruba that condemns the entire Igbo.

You really think so ? Why ? If you understand Nigeria politics well and how votes are being spread from region to region you’ll know that Tinubu won. It’s very clear to see. I know Obi will be President someday though , but not if his supporters are out here insulting everybody

Nice one OP.

How I wish this generation can put on it's thinking cap and understand that the fight of the older generation shouldn't be extended to ours.

It's no longer a fight, it is becoming a generational curse.

The mistake of the older generation have extended into our generation and if care is not taken, the next generation might inherit the same curse.

The people that did evil against the Igbos are long dead and facing their judgement.

The civil war originated from when Ibos initiated a coup where the killed Yoruba and Hausa leaders and did not kill a single Ibo leader. Without this, there wouldn't have been a war. Wars are easy to start but difficult to end.

And now today, okoros are beating the drum for another war because their son giringory lost an election fair and sqaure. He was not even 2nd, he was a distant 3rd. I'm glad because they cannot start this war outside of the south east. So, the military will just go to alaibo and crush the insurrection.

Igbos should not attack all Yorubas
But Yorubas can attack Igbos because of few comments from few Igbos

Was it not because of Kaduna nzuogu coup that 3 million Igbos were killed ?

Not to talk about Yorubas where over 70% are tribalistic

Focus on real life and do not take social media and political clout seriously. Politians don't care about you, and social media is mostly for people who love to spite or share bitterness. Maintain your good relationships and do not expect much from strangers regardless their tribes. Till today Saturday 25 March, igbos and yorubas still marry themselves in our branch of House on the Rock, and many other churches. The largest inter-tribal marriage (among the 3/4 major tribes) will remains between igbos and yorubas.

So, as yoruba/igbo man, if you suddenly turn against your good, loyal and consistent igbo/yoruba friend/bro/sis/customer/neigbour/partners/colleague or even family just because of things you read online, na you be the biggest idiot of your generation.

Even God go turn against you because you have stupidly turned against an angel he has sent to be of help to you at a stage of your life.

Your personal wahala!!!

How many Yoruba people have you met ? You’re judging 70% of a tribe of millions by the paltry few you come in contact with or you debate with on Nairaland ? Then you assume we are all tribalistic , don’t you see that that particular assumption is … tribalistic ??

God bless you , this social media thing is starting to spill over to real life and it’s alarming. Do you know the amount of people that has said they will fight or cut off relationships with anyone that does not vote Obi
Such an annoying mindset

Oh oh , I shall talk to my people too ,but now I’m seeing this from the perspective of a Yoruba man. I think this whole thing began when Obi started to contest and some people started to call anyone that supported or voted Tinubu all sort of names. ( I might be wrong , I’m obviously biased)
I think that’s when Obidient movement started to lose goodwill. I support Obi but you can’t call my mother and my uncle names because she decides to support Tinubu , that is not done

I can bet it with everything I have that Obi and Tinubu will shake hands or even hug in friendship again very soon! But that may not be possible again for the idiot who has lost a good people just because of Obi/Tinubu.

at bolded is not true buhari is still alive, yakubu Gowon is alive, ibb is alife, Igbo never thought of having beef with Yoruba in real life, except for joking banter we see on nairaland, untill this election period, end Sara happens an opportunity for the youths to reset the country every one was determined both Yoruba and Igbo youth, all other tribes in the southern region we were all united to achieve a common goal endsars was basically taking part in all states across the south, first the politicians tried truncutaing with thugs which is clearly the trademark of people like tinubu, when they didn't succeed, they wventwd the word Yoruba Ronu whatever that means, that was how end SARS came to end, now they use the same tactics on election, and many Yoruba bought the mantra hook and sinker, and went ahead to carry it out physically, they are so many Yoruba Obidients in Lagos more than Igbo Obidients but when APC Yoruba started the tribalism the Yoruba Obidients and Yoruba liberals kept quiet, it was expected that thay to beging to expose the politicians at all angles but they left the job for only igbos until the deed was done

You’re very right , I really hoped End sars would bring us together and it did but both Igbo and Yoruba allowed some people to enter their head and twist their mind as if the bullets that flew on October 20 knew Igbo or Yoruba

All these names you’re calling are relics, I’m trying to say we should not inherit their beef

Yoruba Ronu means “Yoruba think” , people in my age group around me DID NOT ronu anything , no be them go tell me Wetin I go think for my head, when my best friend is Igbo and so is my brothers wife
I can only speak for myself and for those I’ve come in contact with The only time I’ve ever kept quiet was during the Gov Elections , when GRV was contesting. I kept quiet not because his mom was Igbo but because he posted many anti-Yoruba stuff that did not sit well with me.

Fighting war with war would only cause more war. We have bigger problems, like poverty

I’m actually enjoying some conversations right now , if we can reason with each other and air grievances with one another, and come to an understanding, there’s no telling what we might accomplish
