check with VFS, they no longer give passport to DHL, UPS or any other courier to deliver to the owner. They want you to use their service which is 18k.

I chatted with them some days ago, that was what they told me

Ok thank you

Hello everyone, please I will like someone to enlighten me on COMMON LAW PARTNER.
I am already processing my MSc in Canada west and I also want to bring along my common law partner and 2kids
I have been separated from my wife for over 8years and being with my common law partner for the past 3years. My divorce case is in process but not sure it will be over before I leave for my studies.
Can I still apply for my common law partner and 2kids to join me? Even with the divorce case in process?

Please I really need help on this. Thank you

First of all, what stage is the divorce proceedings my advice to you would be to wait so you can state in your application that you are divorced with proof. Secondly are there children of the marriage, if there are just know that you cannot apply for visa let alone travel with them without the written consent of their mother.

Hi guys

Please I need your help, My kid bro got refused Canada Study Permit tonight on the basis that;

• You do not have significant family ties outside Canada.

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay. I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors:
• Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable).

For family ties, He has a son but not married, Dad is late, mum is into business. He's travelling alone.

For POF, I stood as the sponsor, submitted my microfinance six months bank statement of N25m and my business six months gt bank statement with balance of about 8m.
We also submitted his six months statement of account with balance of N750k

We submitted affidavit of support that I would be giving me $25k CAD which is about N8m.

We did not submit any Asset Document.

We've paid $6000 CAD tuition fee and submitted the receipt.

The school is NBCC

Please guys what can we do? Help a brother!

We don't want to make any mistake this 2nd trail.

I'm thinking of putting N8m into his account with statement of gift deed to clerify lump sum, then use our uncle's bank statement as back up financial support with statement of support.

I really need someone to guide us through this phase.

Kindly help please fam.

I'm not an Expert but I feel you should show More commitment by sending him 1 year living expenses and tution balance using a gift deed. That way they visa officer might be more convinced.

Secondly alot of people have been denied visa here because they used micro finance bank as POF some VO said it's unverifiable so I suggest you transfer the funds to your GTB and explain it in his SOP. with evidence

Lastly, he should get pictures of himself and the boy that's if he's with the mum and explain everything I'm details, he should also submit the son Birth certificate. Everything rests in your SOP

I don’t think u need to mention about ur dissolving marriage, no one will know and they won’t start finding out if u been married before, they are too busy for that. Just state u have a common law partner nd provide evidence, as for the kids just say they were born out of wedlock before u met the woman who captured ur heart and turned u to a responsible man, and ever since then u have been loyal and faithful to your wife and been a great father to ur kids (becuz u will need to attach their birth certificates). It might sound funny but the VOs are human, and they understand this things especially about Africans. This will help nd will not complicate ur matter. If u start mentioning divorce it will very much complicate ur matter. They will not go and be asking around if u have ever been married bro, they no get that time. Just finish work for ur SOP and tidy ur POF and hometies. I tell u, u got no issue man!

I've received my stamped passport so I'm going to post my timeline and documents i submitted below. First time applicant.

Application submitted: December 3rd 2022
Biometrics: December 13th 2022
Medical request: February 15th 2023
The day I did Medicals: March 3rd 2023
Passed Medicals: March 8th 2023
PPR: March 14th 2023
Submitted passport: March 23rd 2023
Passport ready: April 3rd 2023
(I would have gotten it earlier if I did not waste time to do some things like Biometrics and Medicals, my advice is that if you want your PPR earlier, when they send you request to do Biometrics or Medicals, go ASAP)

Documents submitted (I didn't submit more than required) I am self sponsored, I did everything myself aside from the LOE/SOP that my brother and I did together
All the required forms
International passport Scan (no travel history)
Passport photograph of myself (Canada standard)
Letter of Acceptance with receipt of first semester paid (around 8000 CAD)
Detailed Letter of Explanation/Statement of Purpose with my resume/CV attached.
(My advice for your LOE is to make sure you mention you are coming back to Nigeria. Don't just imply you are coming back. Put that "when I get back to Nigeria etc" even if it's a lie. The Visa officer needs to know that you are going to come back. And I saw on one YouTube video during my research not to hype canada up too much, don't say something like "Canada is a great country, great employment opportunities etc" because the visa officers already know that. All they are hearing is that "Canada is good and you will not be coming back to Nigeria." What I did was that I said I was going to Canada to LEARN and I stated I will be coming back to Nigeria. I mentioned my family as home ties, put as many home ties as you can. I did not submit any photo of my family or birth certificate or any of that)

Proof of funds: Around 16m (it's only me going)
I submitted both my domiciliary account and naira account bank statement of four months for both. I put the receipt of tuition paid, along with the contracts from companies I've worked with and the payslips from when the paid me. The payslips showed tax deduction so I did not get tax clearance certificate.

I didn't do police clearance

You don't need agent to do anything, you can do everything yourself. Just make sure you get someone you trust to go over your LOE and POF to make sure you're putting the right thing. These two things I think are what really make your application strong. I took a whole month to write and edit that LOE and even the POF just so I could make sure I did everything right.

Arrange everything like it's a story, just imagine you're a visa officer going through hundreds of application, you don't have time to waste, so don't waste the VO's time either. Arrange it well, put everything in order, make sure you explain everything in detail. Explain any lump sum, explain anything that will make the visa officer stop and ask why.

I don't know about other people but not only did I put bank statements, payslips etc in my POF, I started explaining anything money related, I used a whole page to talk about where the money came from, how company paid me and so on.
Then I used the LOE/SOP to only talk about myself, why and what I want to study in Canada and home ties. I thought this would help someone, you can use your POF as kind of a LOE regarding money incase you don't have space in ur LOE, but be careful you're not putting a whole essay inside your POF, no beat around the bush, save the main talk for your LOE/SOP.

Another thing a YouTube video mentioned is that anything you say in your LOE/SOP cannot be unsaid so BE CAREFUL. Don't write one made up story, if they reject you and you try and take back what you said or change it, it will not help your case. Be very very careful you are telling the truth or at least, you are not telling a lie.

Nairaland truly helped me when I was applying, i was on it the whole day researching and i owe this forum a lot so thats why im saying all this. Do you research, pray and everything will be okay!
Sorry if my thing is scattered but I hope you guys get my point : ) goodluck to everyone!
