Lol. Make Una no vex my ogas. I'm also just sharing my opinion on the matter. grin

If I am not wrong, about 75% of Caverton share is owned by 3 entities. I presume d 3 entities are same individual or family members, the Makanjuolas.

Things might look up for Caverton major shareholders going forward. Not referring to Caverton as a company.

They have had dealings with Lagos State government and the President elect in the past.

I don't know why you are all freaking out. It was not a buy suggestion, since their price fell by a lot, I simply said that if caverton wanted to recover somewhat they can make a strategic move by paying 20 kobo. It was a thought experiment. Maybe, they won't pay anything at all this time, but you all failed to tackle the main idea. If caverton decided to pay 20 kobo will the share value appreciate? Yes or No?

No problem boss...

Are you willing to stake 50% of your portfolio on that "if"?

Anyway, what's good for the 'Greece' may not be good for 'Uganda'...

Based on mean reversion, yes! It's not far fetched that caverton may rise in price going forwards...

Everything I have said so far is based on caverton and their dividend history/ possibility of paying a high dividend for 2022. You can look back on everything I have posted on this issue so far...

My submission remains the same, caverton and predictable dividends/ high payout ratio should not be used in the same sentence. Can it happen? Of course it can. However the probability of it happening is very much slimmer than that for it not happening.

I wish everyone all the best... We all need a bit of luck whether we buy caverton or buy zenith bank...

You stated that Caverton's EPS is 27k and if they eventually do a 75% payout, that would amount to about 20k dividend. That is wrong. 27k EPS was only for Oct. - Dec. 2022 unaudited results and payout rate cannot be based on a single quarter. If you had suggested that the 20k dividend would have come from their retained earnings, that would have supported your "wild expectation" of a 20k dividend however how unlikely and far fetched that might sound.

U said EPS is 2k, right. Why are the numbers not adding up:

1Q - January to March - PAT:
611,857,000
2Q - April to June - PAT:
-409,058,000
3Q - July to September - PAT:
121,921,000
4Q - October to December - PAT:
910,764,000

Total PAT = 1,235,484,000
EPS = 1,235,484,000/3,350,509,750=0.37

Can huge impairment charges and larger taxation, interest and depreciation charges in d audited results reduce EPS to 2 kobo.

Morgan Capital Securities Limited (MCSE)
- Made top 10 stockbrokers list in both volume and value for the week ended 06/04/2023!!
- Not the first time it's making it in the value aspect; always among the top 10 in volume.

Oya, where is my Oga that said it's only the low networths individuals that are Morgan's customers?

The Nigerian Stock market is a very volatile investment channel. It favours only the super rich that are able to buy majority shares of a company. Before you invest in the stock market, I would advise you watch the movie titled "the wolf of wall street" and understand its intricacies.

Oga, leave those people abeg, a friend was telling me how he intends growing 20m in zenith bank to 300m In next 12yrs not waiting for dividend just buy at 19 sell at 26 take the money to MMF then reinvest again when The Price is lower then finally settle down for dividend of 20m yearly na that time my closed eyes open that I needed to buckle up oo. Since he opened my eyes I have been thinking on how massive wealth can be made by being smart

Is it time to get worried about delayed GTCO’s result? Could Meffy be giving Zenith preferential treatment because of apparent conflict of interest or could there be some issues with GT’s financials? Is there a deadline for CBN to approve results after banks submit?

Volatility means sudden and unpredictable movements! Movements like Facebook dropping 25-30% in a few hours of trading! Movements like Silicon Valley dropping from $100s to pennies within a day or two!

The most our stocks can lose or gain daily is 10%, not 30, 40 or 50% like foreign stocks. But according to bros we are volatile

My simple advice to the average investor on NGX is to have a simple plan of thinking long term, buying good quality stocks that pay dividends regularly and reinvesting the dividend. Buy more when you can add more funds. You would have grown a good portfolio over the years. Be disciplined with reinvesting your dividend.

An investor that bought 1000 units of GTBank@N5.10 at the IPO in 2001, would have shares worth about N170k now and received over N172k as dividends to date. An investor that bought Presco at about N10 around 2008, would have it at N150 per share today (not recognizing dividends paid o).

Please leave the complex strategies for those that might know how, until you learn better. They don't always win.
