How can he be paying 21% of EPS (1.1 paid out of 4.84) and be expecting proper valuation of UBA shares and without proper valuation be opening himsef up for a possible hostile takeover ( as currently going on in his Transcorp). Just because he don chop belleful before d result is declared, he is not mindful whether other people sef chop. No be wickedness be dat.

TOE doesn't really send anybody tbh. All that Foundation/Africapitalism ish is strictly to boost his ego. I like the guy sha.

Because UBA deposit liabilities, has been growing as fast or faster that SHF, perhaps UBA is trying to improve its CAR organically. FBNH has similar challenge / strategy to boost CAR sufficiently above the minimum required by CBN. As a result of this it's not advisable to dispense too much dividend as doing so, reduces the rate at which SHF grows. Access raised a special instrument to boost its
Tier 1 capital a couple of years ago. This has boosted its CAR hence can dispense more dividends. Will need to look through the annual report presentations to pick out the CAR. Or last year Stanbic-IBTC analysis display of CAR if I can get it.

I hear there is a way it can reduce tax liabilities. Achieve double result with one strike.

The last full year result already put CAR above 25 which is comfortably above minimum regulatory of 15 , so it is not an excuse. UBA should increase the dividend payout. Na wetin shareholder eat (dividend) for them belle matter most to them

I suspect Tony is about to start mopping up UBA so that what has happened in Transcorp doesn't happen to him again. With a market cap of just N270B an enterprising person with $20million in spare change can just convert the money to N14B on the parallel market and become second largest shareholder in UBA with more than 5% and insist on board positions.

Please how is a company like Risevest able to give 8%
Interest PA om dollar investment?

Is it safe to invest with them?
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by BabsO2(m): 10:56pm On Apr 20, 2023
You are right. UBA has no excuse for not increasing dividends based on CAR. It's First Bank that is building CAR by not paying too much dividends. Below is a nice picture for 2021 H1 from Stanbic IBTC. Cannot find the one they issued last year.

ON ACCESSCORP 2022 YE report...

Pls let's not get too excited.
No doubt, ACCESSCORP did well at declaring a mouthwatering dividend and any dividend growth investor will of course embrace it, but can that be said of a value investor? ...not entirely?

Based on their YE, 2022 Nos, I dare say that UBA is still ahead of ACCESSCORP.
The magt of ACCESS need to be more efficient. They do have a strong "war chest", but the focus to build via inorganic growth has been the bane to a commensurate measure in earnings quality in view of the banks asset size. (AsY/AsQ from key ED)

Until 2021, they were doing well at optimizing cost whilst building the necessary synergy, but it appears their foray into some African countries/romance with 1 or 2 lenders has taken more than it has given them.
I was not entirely impressed by their performance in 2021. ...they should've have done more!
H1, 2022 was particularly a deviation in growth trajectory for me given how the banks AsQ relates to some of her VPDs.

Before 2021, ACCESS was well ahead of UBA in view of how risk relates to VALUE... and rightly so seeing how the former outperformed the latter in CGY YoY. (I recall writing an article to compare both lenders at the time)
But in recent time, UBA has no doubt been the more efficient bank. ...it has done better at delivering more comparative value with less.(liquidity)

By my several estimate, ACCESSCORP earnings quality is relatively fair.
An EPA analysis shows that accruals contribute less than 47% of earnings delivery, so we can say that it's ok.
But Yes, they can and should do better.
Using the same approach pegs UBA @ less 31% on accrual basis... which currently makes her a more efficiently run banking entity than ACCESS (a few other P2P comparative analysis also lends credence to this fact)

With that N1.3 dividend proposal (which of course triggered the excitement and interest in the stock), I expect ACCESSCORP to rise and perhaps hover around N12-13+ in the short term.
However, unless the overall mkt/sector assigned sentiment remains positive, am not so sure about the sustainability in cap appreciation post ex-dividend.
But for that dividend, there could've been a near 1 probability that the price will drop even if it will later rise.

I like ACCESSCORP Q1, 2023, but I also do have some concerns. It's nice to see that they've started the yr in good light but hey! it's not the 1st time they'll have a good quarter performance and follow it up with a material deviation 90 days later.
I'd love to see them show some great measure of consistency.

Before 2021, I had advised for a 70-30% fund allocation in favor of ACCESS (ahead of UBA), but in view of recent guide from their financial print (particular in the last 3 quarters), that portfolio weighting is now 60-40% in favor of UBA.
...I still do.

Bottom line: ACCESSCORP is good, but UBA is better. ...well, for now!
If the share price of the former can push up because of its proposed div cash flow, the latter will because of its slightly better fundamental stance.

CAVEAT: NOT to be inferred as any sought of recommendation. ...the need for due diligence should still take higher precedence ahead of this post.

It is well.

Sorry you've not been getting reply to some of your questions.......it's because they were direct, personal and no one way straight answers to them especially in this kind of forum.

From your question, you're not for long term, so:
If it were me, with access to real time trading, I'll still hold on and keep keen eyes on the price mvmts and news/updates around it to know when to sell....
OR
Sell once decent profit is made and move on.....
(You may not like Transcorp's "anger" when offers starts rolling in after both billionaires are done).
Strictly my opinion, I may be very wrong.

** Final decision is yours to take**
Thanks a lot

To give you a quick hint on the due diligence part

Risvest is not "properly" licensed & regulated.

In the sense that they don't have a fund/portfolio manager license from the SEC (Nigeria).

My advice to them is to start applying for the said license, if they haven't done so.

In the meantime, if you are looking for a dollar mutual fund to invest in, go for the ones at Stanbic IBTC Asset Mgt, FBNQuest Asset Mgt, United Capital Asset Mgt etc

Happy holidays!

It is registered, they are paid PAYE every month from the workers

I think the direct assessment from LIRS which I pay once in a year is cheaper for me

I don't like the direct assessment, because it is at discretion of the LIRS.

As a business owner, you should also be on the payroll
Filling your PAYE through your company payroll is cheaper and convenient.

The thing weak me! Tony don enter gidigbo be that.
They may had deliberately kept Transcorp unattractive at N1:00 all this time and now it's backfiring as somebody with money and with huge interest in Energy sees value and potential hidden in plain sight as well as the opportunity to acquire cheaply considering Geregu price @N300+.
