Idara George, better known as Idara Gold, is a young Biafran enthusiast from Akwai Ibom State. Two years ago, she celebrated her 20th birthday by posting pictures of herself in Biafran attire on her Facebook wall

For that, the DSS arrested her in Enugu, transferred her to DSS Headquarters Abuja, then moved her to a military Barraks in Kainji, Niger State, where she was held for 18 months without access to a Lawyer, without access to her family, and without charge.

Bear in mind that there is no law anywhere in the Nigerian constitution that bars anyone from using the Biafran flag as they wish, whether to make attire or otherwise

When the news of Idara Gold grew louder and louder, the DSS rushed Idara Gold to court and charged her with being an IPOB member. Yesterday, the high court in Abuja granted her bail. An overjoyed Idara Gold wept on her Lawyers shoulder

Regardless of if you like the Biafran agitation or not, if your democracy is one where people are arrested for posting picture, detained without charge for 18 months, denied access to Lawyers and family

Then your so called democracy is not worth the paper it is written on

The pathway to freedom is littered with the blood of martyrs, pain and humiliation of her fighters and the oppression of her people.
All the humiliation, torture and rape of our women by Nigerian military and police are well documented. We will tell the world the evils we saw under the terrorist Nigerian government.
Freedom is coming.
God bless Biafra.

Lucky her.

The question is how many months has she been incarcerated?

Does what led to her arrest worth her freedom being denied?

Hope others can learn from this. All regions have their tails about this contraption Nigeria but they have different method of doing it.

Firstly, there's a section of the Constitution of Nigeria that prohibits the promotion of secessionist activities in any form.
Now,let's be factual here. There are a few ways in which putting on a Biafra attire for a photoshoot can be seen to promote and cause division. Firstly, wearing the attire could be seen as a form of support for the Biafran movement, which could cause tension between supporters and opponents of the movement.

Secondly, the photoshoot could be seen as a provocation, given the history of conflict between Nigeria and Biafra. This could lead to violence or unrest. Finally, the photoshoot could be seen as an incitement to break the law. Wearing the Biafran attire could be seen as an endorsement of the secessionist movement, which is illegal in Nigeria. As such, the person could be charged with inciting violence or insurrection.
I'm only against putting her for so long without trial or access to her family!

Article 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is clear on this. It firmly states: Nigeria is one indivisible and indissoluble sovereign state to be known by the name of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It also says: Nigeria is a country that cannot be divided and is unbreakable. Nigeria’s government name is Federal Republic of Nigeria.

You should get my point, which is anything contrary to that is not acceptable SMH. Promoting a seccessionist group is one step to dividing Nigeria.
Note: This Is what the Nigeria Constitution states!

There are legal ways to go about it, Mr. I've stated that severally on this forum, but you folks never seem to get it.

Do you want me to spell out the process for your sake?

In other words, if I buy my son a toy gun, this could be seen as an attempt by me to train him to become an armed robber?

If we follow your logic, the security forces can see anything they like, and arrest anyone they like.

The law is not based on what the security forces choose to see, it is based on breaking a known law.

How can you defend a young girl being arrested and kept for 18 months without charge, and without access to her lawyer and family? All based on what someone chooses to see?

By the way, the African and UN charter that Nigeria is a signatory to, allows anyone the right to self determination, which is the right to agitate for independence of an area from a country it belongs to

Article 1 & 20, Cap A9, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria says: "All peoples shall have the unquestionable and inalienable right of self determination. The state shall recognize the right and adopt legislative or other measures to give effect to it"
