If they have changed the requirement for SOWP by providing transcript and enrollment letter, that means those applying with their spouse won't be eligible
iamraphson:
Hey guys,

10 months and 8 days later, still no update on my application. Anyway, I decided to do request for GCMS notes on my application. They replied me this night, I saw one of the note text saying "Applicant is applying for an open work permit; However eligility for any LMIA exemption code is unclear" from last Q4. Although the date on this particular note was before I contacted the MP who said My wife's study permit is missing from my application which he helped me send it as I saw in my quoted message. For some reason, the note text is not sitting well with me. Sound more like my application says i have a pending offer or something. Should i be more worried?

Also,I heard medical expires after a year. i submitted upfront medical for my application which was done end of May 2022. Will i be doing another medical any month again?

Damn, IRCC is really humbling me. They are teaching me "patience"

Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by Dzees: 3:49pm On Apr 28, 2023
Thank you. The link also states that the process can be delayed because of the strike

Areas of disruption
Most significantly, IRCC says there will be some disruptions and delays can be expected in:

processing applications
in-person appointments or events including citizenship ceremonies
contacting IRCC via email, phone or social media
consular citizenship and passport services
passport services in Canada

Why is it so difficult to get a landing gist on this very SOWP group. With a lot of SOWP approval for couples and families, people should try as much as possible to drop landing gist. The way we all ask questions now and then when processing our application, let's drop information about what was required at the port of entry as well.

The fact is, what officers ask at the port of entry from someone with study permit is totally different from someone with Work Permit and Visit Visa... So, make we dey drop landing gist for SOWP as well. It's not good to just ghost because application has been approved and we've received our stamped passport. Make we do well I beg!

Landing gist dey only sweet express entry people and students who are leaving Naija for the first time. People who have been separated from their spouses for over three-four years and have traveled to other countries previously would not be so excited about landing gist.

I understand you... But my point is not about excitement. It's about providing important information about Port of entry requirements. If solid information were not provided on this platform, majority of us will not be able to do it ourselves. So, providing information about what was asked before gaining that final entry to the country is equally important, as the processing of the application. And it's not a must we put that up immediately when we meet our family, what about days or few weeks after. It'll help many families with kids on study or visit visa, and also the spouse with work permit.

Someone here told me how her 2 kids and her were nearly turned back at Pearson airport because she didn't expect the questions that were asked. She initially asked here that what are the requirements and possibly questions at the port of entry, and no one was able to provide any information... That wouldn't have been if we do drop landing gist.

Don't forget that questions that may be asked from a study permit holder will be different from work permit. And having a visa does not automatically mean entry into the country. Don't ever think such landing gist is not equally important! That's my point!

Good thought here I would say.

I think it is wise we share our landing experinces. This is key.

Reading from what the lady told you, then, this is an area we need to improve on big time. Let's invest small time on it and see the result.

It was the wealth of knowledge here that made a lot of people, yours truly is also include could do this on their own.

Please, let's share our landing stories. It will go a long way to guide all.

Thanks in antici[pation.

If the woman can be specific it will go along way, the thing is that at the POE the main question for swop is usually your passport and the introduction letter IRCC sends after Visa stamping this is once the officer greets you and ask you for your documents however the visa officer somethings may ask you which company is sponsoring you and your answer will be that it's SOWP then he may request for spouse full Name just for confirmation and ask you to sit and wait for fee minutes.
However I was on a thread where an Indian was almost turned back reason is that sometimes during applications some spouse maybe nonchalant of the application process, the indian was asked which Visa she had she said work permit and when she was asked of LIMA she got confused it took the intervention of the indian friends around to explain to her that what she had was Sowp and not Lima, so it's always good for intending travellers to also understand what purpose they are traveling for because this is the likely border question

Reasons for refusal
for spouse
• You do not qualify under the IMP as you provided insufficient information to demonstrate that your spouse is a full-time student in a qualifying program at a DLI in Canada. Refused under R205(c)(ii).

For children
.I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by paragraph R216(1)(b) of the IRPR (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/sor-2002-227/section-216.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors:
• The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application

In the first application i attached the student details to the family information section and made reference to it in my letter of intent as i needed enough space in the client information section.(probably it was not the right thing to do)

Secondly, had used an unofficial enrolment verification letter from the school's website.

For the second application, I added an official enrollment letter from school as well as the term's class schedule to proof my attendance in school. I also explained what I had done differently to address the officer's concerns for the refusal

Congratulations May Canada favour you and your family.

You do not need admission for the 7years old. Go ahead with the application. The 7yrs will get admission later when you all arrive in Canada.

Good luck!

Hi everyone. Please I’d like the help of the gurus on the platform. I’ve got some issues on my mind.

Firstly, my hubby applied for study visa about 2years ago. He got the visa, but he didn’t go because he said he didn’t have the heart to leave his family behind. Now I want to apply for study visa and apply with my family. I don’t know if it will be an issue.

Secondly, I am going for a years course, do I need to show pof for the 2 years tuition plus cost of living for 2 years.

I really need help with your inputs.

Thank you.

For this I don't think is an issue, but you can add it to you LOI. But no real knowledge on this.

Secondly, I am going for a years course, do I need to show pof for the 2 years tuition plus cost of living for 2 years.

You only need to show POF for a year, for both tuition and living expenses.

This strongly depends on the size of your family. A family of 5 is diff from a family of 3.

Well, if your family have the funds, please go ahead.

Good luck!

I really need help with your inputs.
