It makes no sense to call a victorious candidate a rigger when the case is still in court and a decision has not been made. Ordinarily, one would expect an Onaiyekan to know this but he’s an obedient so common sense is not application when analyzing issues. Just reason based on hatred for the president- elect and religious sentiments.

All presidential elections since 1999 have been disputed except that of 2015 and there was no time Onaiyekan or anyone else called for the winners not to be sworn-in based on the disputes and claims of rigging. Not even the fraudulent 2007 election. So, what’s now different?
Things can not always be the same old ways. He is a Nigerian he is entitled to his opinion.

Unfortunately you are the one guilty of what you are accusing Onaiyekan of.

That the current law says the first court of instance must not exceed 6 months in an electoral matter, does it mean it is illegal if the case is decided within one week? Not to talk one month?
don't waste your time, most of them are illiterates. They don't know how our democracy will grow if we can do what the Cardinal suggest.
Ordinary Kenya finished their surpreme Court case within 14 days, everything was done and dusted before the swearing in.
How will you get justice when the accuse is the one that appointed the judge?
How will you get justice when trillions of naira are available to the accused for bribery?
How will you get justice when the accused is the commander in chief?
Nigerian systems are fantastically corrupt.

did he called anybody rigger? He said those that rigged the election know themselves.
If really we want justice, then why are swearing in an accused? The moment tinubu is sworn in he will have immunity and he will take advantage of that immunity to frustrate the court case.
There is no justice in Nigeria as far as we are still operating this corrupt system.

So pathetic of you to think that Onaiyekan, a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, would be induced to do anything.

I’m sure you think that it’s every old man that sells their honour for a pot of porridge like Soyinka and Pa Fasoranti😏.

You people are lucky that the Catholic Church in Nigeria are docile and quiet. If they have ever flexed their muscle and used their influence, this country won’t be standing by now.
Don't even go there with that statement of using the Catholic Church....You're going to open wounds between the Catholic and Anglican this Country came from the British who are the owners of the Anglican church.....
Or else Nigeria becomes a flexing ground for Christian wars by European just as it's been done in Ukraine, Sudan and even Syria ISIs

The rate of ignorance in this country is so alarming! When you said the cardinal left to work of God for politics, did you actually know what the work of God is? If you don't, the work of God is not to be done with animals but with humans. Social justice, rule of law, peace, equality etc these are the real works of God. You can't be telling a thief to stop adultery but rather to stop stealing. Politicians needs to be told what they are doing wrong so they can make amends. Everyone knows this year's elections were a shadow of what we all expected and every well meaning Nigerian need to speak up, that's what it's called good followership. It's very sad that we all failed in doing our bit, especially those blindfolded by political, religious and tribal affiliations.

Common sense. Get rid of election petition before swearing in.
But election riggers themselves make the laws and lovers of Oligarchic rule for Nigeria are in control of the government.
Once they pronounce someone winner of presidential election, swear the person in as president, the fraudulent president can then use government immense resources to uphold the rigged election.
Who on earth will believe that after APC reduced Nigeria to become the POVERTY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD, as well as one of the most terrorised countries on earth, voters renewed APC tenure in Aso Rock?

I watch how they protest against the govt of Joseph Kabila and told him not to influence the out come of the election that ended his reign in the Congo.

I was going to cite Congo as an example.

The Catholic Church in Congo are a very powerful and influential bloc. But I think it’s easier for him because the country is almost 90% Catholics.

If the Catholic Church want to do such thing in Nigeria, you might see the Islamic bloc coming out with their own too.

I suppose it’s the reason they’ve chosen to be docile and keep out of Politics.
