Did you know Nigeria is the most dangerous country right now for a woman. Nigeria has the highest number of women dieing of pregnancy every year in the world more than even populous India.

Hysterectomies have been a recognised management protocol for post partum haemorrhage for close to half a century. Matter of fact, in category 1, 2 and 3 Caesarean Sections in most centres, pregnant women are required to provide consent for hysterectomies, prior to C/S surgery.

Yaa Allah! Astaghafirullah, So much pain the innocent woman had to go through, worse thing is her husband is now a widower and the child motherless. Imagine a child that cannot even suck from the mum. This world is something else.

Wow! So the hospital is threatening the husband to not take any legal action against their own negligence.

The least they could do is pay the man his money... I would've bombed that hospital if it was me.

A lot of factors can lead to post partum hemorrhage not just uterine rupture. Removal of the uterus has to be the last resort iafter everything else has been done to curtail the bleeding. How did the student doctor come up with the diagnosis that the uterus has been ruptured and has to be removed? Which treatment did they administer to stop the bleeding before deciding to remove the uterus? Was the operation supervised buya specialist? The hospital has a lot of explaining to do

You want to tell me for the whole specialist hospital na student doctor go perform such procedure?

An experienced resident doctor should have suppervised the surgery instead of leaving a student doctor to handle such a massive surgery. The hospital management is culpable. I don't know why some govt workers feel so above the law when they have done wrong.

I was nearly killed by a nurse last week, I was given an injection which I never needed and when I complained of the heart attack with a severe breathing issues, they never bothered, they administered the same injections the following day, watching me gasping for air.

I was rushed to another hospital and admitted for 5 days. I'm currently battling heart issues caused by a nurse. May God help us.

Painful,but I have my own queries about the man's narration of events.
First,maybe he meant resident in O&G,so a trainee obstetrician.
Secondly,unless you are a senior resident,no training specialist hospital would allow a junior resident carry out any surgery without supervision.
Thirdly,I really doubt the narration of the meeting he had with the CMD.Did the CMD say those words about a "student doctor" and reimbursement if he hadn't paid?
He also mentioned 22 pints of blood being requested,that is about 11 litres when the human body has about 5-6litres of blood in total!
Lastly,assuming it was a resident that performed the initial surgery,the subsequent management after the complication would not only have been reviewed and overseen by a consultant O& G specialist but by internal medicine and other surgical consultants since the kidney was affected and dialysis had to be done.
It's painful news and now that he has gone to the social media,the hospital will hopefully come out with their own version of events and at least let the man and public get accountability and to also restore faith in the Hospital because if it happened the way he said,a lot of questions will be begging for answers.

Student doctor or H.O(House officer) because I don't think any sane university teaching hospital will allow doctors who are still in medical college to carry out any operation.
So I will assume it's an H.O even then he should be supervised by a consultant, secondly we're there know resident doctor.
Terrible loss indeed I am even surprise the CMD opened up instead of covering it up as usual.

We are getting there, in the first place why will a student doctor handle such case.....a student doctor that must have bribe his way through medical school, cases like this will occur and again and again, this is what happens in a currupt country.

This is another cogent reason why I won't have my kids in this country.

Nigerian doctors are the worst in the world. But come to think of it, what is it that will make them the best? Is the school they attended that doesn't meet up to standard or the environment where they study that's not even enabling?
