Please does anyone have an idea if it is mandatory to get a language certificate as a DAAD scholar's spouse?

Both study and family reunion will take almost the same time. Because you still have to wait for one year before appointment for student visa expect you have First Class. So, I will advice you to focus re-union. The benefits of family reunion are enormous. Yes, you can use the traditional wedding to apply.

Amiedoris:
Please does anyone know which is faster, school visa or family reunion. My husband and I have done traditional wedding before he left last year (as a student), he wants to come back for white wedding. Should I wait and use the certificate to apply for my own visa or should I go as a student (masters).

Kindly advise pls

Good morning everyone, please does anyone know how I can locate my lawyer? Its been 7months since interview and still no lawyer. My husband called one of those imigration office in Germany and he was told that there has been no update from the lawyer. That the system just shows that the verification has be initiated but it hasn't been completed making me come to the conclusion that the lawyer is the one delaying my process. I have sent emails to the embassy and no response,I feel crippled and I don't know what to do 🥺🥺🥺

Hello have you been contacted yet? I haven't though. Sending you cyber hugs.

FRV update…

Application: July 2021
Interview: September 2022
Lawyer called and visited: February 2023
Request for document from ABH: March 2023
Visa approved by ABH and Embassy: April 2023
Visa delivered: May 2023

Most of the tiny details are similar to most experiences and timeline just a bit stretched while waiting for lawyer’s visit.

Wishing everyone waiting for news all the best!

Did you receive "Verification Complete Email" from the embassy and did you have to do anything other than waiting to hasten the process.

Yes, verification complete email from the embassy was immediately followed by the request for document from the ABH.
I routinely sent a mail to the embassy via their contact form and also contacted my ABH to establish application status. I never received a response from the embassy but I like to assume it helped somehow.

Just curious.

I have the EU Blue Card, my wife went for re-union appointment at the embassy this week and was not asked to pay for verification fee.

A friend's (who does not have the Blue Card, normal work visa) wife I know went also in March and was not asked to pay. ABH wrote him in April, like 6 weeks after the appointment to submit some required documents as per usual.

I am now wondering, has the process changed since this year? Is there no more verification somehow?

Please reply if you went this year and what was your experience.

PS: If you paid for verification, do you have a child? I think they always do verification for people with a +1. I'm trying to see if there is a pattern here. Thanks

My spouse explained this verbally during her interview. We didn’t write a letter or anything like that. She presented evidence of her BSc and employment indicating she works 6 days a week.
Every individual cases are of courses treated differently, so you never know until you try.

I did my interview in January 2023. I paid the verification fee of 150k. This month of May is almost ending I still haven't heard from my lawyer.
Did your friend's wife insist on paying and it was rejected? There are some people that were called back later to pay the fee. Most times the interview officer tells you the reason why a fee is waived. For example the visa officer that interviewed me told me why I shouldn't pay the visa fee. If they want to change the process please let them change it. Haba! The stress is too much. They can verify documents but let them scrap out this lawyer visit of a thing chai. That's the one that is paining me o.

Well, I think it used to be Legalization of Documents which is handled by a ministry in Abuja. Perhaps they had reason to doubt the integrity of that process so now they use embassy-appointed persons to verify the documents. It is really frustrating when there are no definite or estimated timelines. Some people have been visited by their lawyers but still nothing from the embassy months after. I wonder what makes them reply emails.

His wife was simply told by the VO that their is no need for verification for their case. I have no idea what yardstick they use.

For example the visa officer that interviewed me told me why I shouldn't pay the visa fee.

What do you mean by the above statement? You didn't pay for visa fees?

Visa fee and verification fee are two different things

Hey.. I also hold a blue card. My wife had her interview 5weeks ago. The verification money was not collected so also the VO said language is not need. We hope not to see surprises.

Good to know.

Please let me know when ABH send you a letter to submit documents, I like to know what timeline to expect. My friend was contacted about 6 to 7 weeks after the wife's interview appointment to submit necessary documents, hopefully its similar for you and for me smiley

Cheers!

I gave an example that in my case I didn't pay the visa and the VO gave me the reason why. The VO said since my spouse was German who also pays his taxes that I should only pay the verification fee.
So I was asking if the VO told your friends's wife the EXACT reason why she shouldn't pay the verification fee since you said her spouse wasn't a blue card holder.
