Question: "Is baptism necessary for salvation?"Water baptism is not required for salvation and also not compulsory after you are saved. Baptism is important but it is the baptism with the Holy Spirit. Water baptism is John's baptism. Jesus does his baptism with the Holy Spirit. |

delkuf:To be Born of Water means being baptized into the New Covenant and Law, Jesus Christ, the new source of Living water for those who are born again. Water baptism, as explained by John the Baptist in Matthew 3 vs 7 - 11 & Luke 3 vs 2 - 18 & Mark 1 vs 1 - 8 symbolizes the transition from (complete abandonment) the Old Law of Moses in order to begin anew following God's New Law and Covenant in the Kingdom of God, God's New fountain of Living Water. John referred to it as the Baptism of repentance. ![]() To be born of Spirit means to be born of the Spirit of Eternal Life, God's gift of Eternal Life which is granted to sinners who believe in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ in fact describes it as an actual possession of the individual by the Spirit in John 3 vs 8, and since the Spirit is Eternal Life itself, He remains with the individual 24/7 for eternity from that point on wielding power and control over the one He possesses (but not over their will). ![]() So, when Jesus Christ said, "Except a man is born-again, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God", what Jesus Christ in fact meant was that the Baptism for repentance which ensures one adopts the New Covenant which happens to be the Constitutional Law in the Kingdom of God, in addition to possession by the Spirit of Eternal Life— which can be likened to a Passport sealed in the New Covenant— are requirements for all who wish to be considered citizens of the Kingdom of God. ![]() |

jiggaz:So what you are saying is that when Jesus Christ said "Everyone must be born-again... except a man is born again — born of water AND born of Spirit — he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God....", you rather believe Jesus Christ lied - John 3 vs 1 - 21? ![]() |

Salvation comes by repentance and faith in Jesus. Water baptism could come after. However, water baptism is not a prerequisite for salvation. See Acts 8:35-38 KJV Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. [36] And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? [37] *And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.* [38] And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. |

Heph001:1. Are you insinuating that Jesus Christ missed the mark when He said the following: 5 Jesus answered, “Believe me when I say that everyone must be born from water AND the Spirit. Anyone who is not born from water AND the Spirit cannot enter God’s kingdom.2. The passage you quoted says that Phillip baptized the Eunuch in water. I fail to see how that means that baptism is not a prerequisite for salvation. ![]() |

delkuf:So, Jesus Christ made a mistake when He declared that everyone must be born-again — born of water AND born of Spirit - John 3 v 1 -21? ![]() |

delkuf:Again, You can only be born of water — the fountain of living water that is the New Covenant and Law in the Kingdom of God, Jesus Christ, by undergoing the baptism of repentance from the Old Law and fountain of Living Water — the Old Law of Moses — to living under the New Law and fountain of Living water that is Jesus Christ. There is no other way. ![]() |
