You're an absolute idiot. People from every region are adding Owerri to the list but you, being a tribalistic bastard, have to add tribalism and foolishness to the post.

I live in Owerri and I spend at least 1 week every month in port harcourt. Owerri is better, just that things, especially foodstuff, are more expensive in Owerri than in port harcourt
so why are igbo girls leaving owerri to portharcourt for prostitution?

You are on point with your list…

Yenagoa (Bayelsa generally) is a disgrace. Especially considering the money she has as compared to her population. And few L.G.A.

Lokoja is an eyesore.

Some state governments are really shameless!
I think Bayelsa state just like Delta State, spend most of their allocation to fight militancy & oil bunkering activities prevalent in that area.
That's why they have very little money left for developmental projects.
You really can't blame them

Then what do they use their security votes for?

Pls stop making excuses for these shit.Ty leaders.

The s/south precisely seem to have the worst leaders in Nigeria.

They have the highest allocation from FG but the least to show for it.

You mentioned militancy that seem to be on the decrease. Past s/south governors like Ibori and Odili even have more to boast about even when they faced stiffer resistance from the effects of militancy. Compared to the present crop of leaders who receive higher allocation from the FG.

Pray what do they do with oil deriavation allocation?

Remember NDDC is also there. These states have no reason not to develop at a faster pace than the rest.

These states have no excuse for remaining at the level which there currently are.

Pls let’s be straightforward. Stop defending these leaders.

They are useless!

For the ones I have visited, Lokoja is the least developed... Even some second cities of some state (Nsukka-Enugu, Zaria-Kaduna, Azare-Bauchi) looks better 😏

You haven't visited makurdi yet..

Lokoja is far better

North Central.
Lafia is terrible for a capital city.
Minna is not that good too.
Forget lokoja the aura and atmosphere alone oozes of nonsense.

North west
Gusau the name suggest its gutter.
Sokoto that one is just there.

North East
Except for maiduguri and gombe the rest are rubbish.

South South
Yenagoa is over rated.
Benin too many old buildings.

South East.
Umuahia is rubbish.
Abakaliki is picking up compared to the last time I was there.
Awka could still do better.
Owerri is not that bad.

I have been to all the states in Nigeria so I am talking from experience.

You obv have visited benue state.. specifically makurdi

I'm not defending them but you need to empathise with them.
Asides militancy, there's also damage to their environment due to oil spill & their state govt spend a lot to address this issue.
There's also high population there & there will be higher expenses on the part of their state govt. to provide basic amenities for such high population & also pay salaries

Some arguments are not necessarily…

I already explained to you about the militancy issue. But let me make it easier for you to understand. States receive security votes from the federal government monthly to tackle insecurity in their states. These security votes runs into billions…. It’s just to fight insecurity in their state. And it’s separate from their normal monthly allocation. So they do not need to spend from their state allocation to fight insecurity. As you are suggesting. Get it now… ?

Meaning there do no spend their state allocation money fighting insecurity but a separate account for that.

It is not the responsibility of state governments to clean up oil spillage but that of oil companies involved. So states do not spend a lot cleaning oil spillages as you also stated.

As for high population you mentioned… I just tire for your argument. These s/south states are the least populated. Also with smaller land size. Bayelsa state population is less than 2 million according to 2006 population census figures. Bayelsa also has the smallest land size in Nigeria…. It is the smallest state.

So what are you arguing about? Kano state population is over 20 million. Yet these states seem to be doing better.

I hope you know the small bayelsa state both in size and population receive bigger allocation than Kano?

I take it you are from the s/south go on and defend your leaders blindly while they loot you dry.

Think they care about you!

You’re going in cycles. I have been to Owerri and the only good thing about that place is the hotel’s everywhere!
These are the indices that makes a city developed?
There is no developed city in Nigeria apart from Abuja and some part of Lagos.
Do you have all the basic infrastructure that meets all your need in Owerri?
The only industry in Owerri is hotels. Her hospitals are not the best in eastern Nigeria. Same for the schools in Owerri.
Do they follow town planning laws and build according to the building code?
Don’t argue blindly.

You still didn't refute any of my points and to think they are more than 14 points. What a shame to admit a capital city doesn't have the right to export it's entertainment industry like other developed cities of the world. Having only classy, viable hotels doesn't mean the city isn't developed. Look at my points and critisize accordingly. People have legs and have gone to owerri to verify things for themselves, that's why 99% of threads like this will always include owerri in tops ...

I have been reasoning, having traveled to most state capitals in Nigeria and seening how underdevelop most capital cities are, it is pertinent to state the list of the most underveloped capital cities in Nigeria by geo-political zone:

(1) south east - Umuahia (Abia state).

(2) South south - Yenogoa (Bayelsa state).

(3) South west - Ado ekiti (Ekiti state).

(4) North central - Lokoja (Kogi state).

(5) North east - Damaturu (Yobe state).

(6) North west - Gusau (Zamfara state).

What is your opinion on this rating? Please no insult guys.

I am very surprised that kogi is more developed than Benue State

Sokoto? Smh for you.
Kano is good, big and beautiful and deserves to be ranked one of the best. But like I already stated, Kano and Kaduna have ethno-religious issues such as Sharia which makes it difficult for people to live more freely and secured. Moreover, in a country that has English as official language, one expects you should be able to interact freely in English language in a Nigerian city. This is much more difficult in Northeast and Northwest.

I live in kaduna and i can confidently tell you that its one of the most diverse city in the north. Even better than north central states in that regards.

Besides if i should be honest, you been ignorant. Does practicing islamic laws in Cairo, Riyadh or Dubai make them any less developed.

So by you assumption Enugu is far developed than Riyadh in Saudi Arabia right?
