Way too oily and messy for me... Food with too much oil can repulse me because of too much oil.

I can't even see what is what in those dishes.

But it's your food and of course you'll see it as good food, which is understandable.

Even the Vietnamese see snakes as good food.

And I didn't include regular chicken and fish on my list because we all know and eat chicken and fish... I don't necessarily consider them as African native food.

Those first pictures all look too oily and messy.

Seconds pictures consist of many Western foods, which I don't consider as African native food.

Do you think we South Africans don't eat regular chicken, rice, fish, noodles, cucumbers, and things like that?

I could've posted them too, but I don't consider them as South African or African native foods.

Aside the beans that goes along with a very well fried red oil pepper, Where else did you see oil?

What's the difference between this stew of yours to what you call a soup in Nigeria?
short answer Nigeria stew major ingredient(tomatoes and paper, color = red), Nigeria soup (green vegetables, color =green).

The both can contain meat. Nb: some soup are not made with vegetables and are not green.

Uses
Soup: mainly for eating swallow.
Stew: mostly for eating rice

Then it means those pictures posted by your people here claiming that they're soups are stews because most of them are red... undecided undecided undecided

Wats pap made of? Looks like eba

12. Pap and chicken intestines... I'm not going to lie, I love chicken intestines, but I don't like the process of preparing them because you have to make sure that the chicken feaces are properly removed before you can cook them... They always remind me of home.. grin grin grin.. most of the time when I'm alone I buy those ones that are already cooked... But when I'm at home I'd convince my mother to prepare them and I'd cook them afterwards... grin grin grin

lol seems you don't like oil at all, oil in soups doesn't change the green color, indeed they remain soups. What makes stew in Nigeria is one main ingredient "tomato". I'm curious, how do vegetarian survive in South Africa, it's hardly likely they'd survived.
Re: List Of South African Foods by Nobody: 10:03pm On May 24, 2023
We eat veggies too... Didn't you check those dishes that I posted? They have veggies, either cooked altogether, or they're on the side, just like your dishes have veggies too.

And since SA is a multiracial country, we also eat dishes from other ethnic groups, i didn't post them because I don't necessarily regard them as our SA native foods.

We're not only limited to the ones I posted here... And I know few people who are vegetarians and they're doing just fine... smiley smiley smiley

I just don't like food that have too much oil, even when I make my chicken stew or beef stew, I make sure that the stew is not too much because I wouldn't want my chicken or beef soaked in too much oil to a point that it would be just floating in the oil.

I easily get repulsed by such food.

Some of your people posted your Nigerian food in this thread and most of these soups of yours look like they have tomatoes... Even that goat meat that still has its coat on looks like it has tomatoes, or is it goat stew?

We use pepper in soup not tomato, the cow skin you saw was fetched out from stew. I also don't like too much oil in soups/stew, too much oil isn't healthy and I supposed many Nigerians know this, But we're oil loving people.

It seems like black south Africans were feeding on grass before the white man came. How is it that you guys don't have local dishes and not goat this, beef that.

Nigerians in South Africa are really trying because have to spend a lot on foods. All these foods here look like dessert except pap.

No forum on the net can surpass Nairaland when it comes to posting dumb and foolish shìt. I swear 🤞🤞

Don't Nigerians add rats to everything they cook as long as it has tomato paste☹️

Your food is the most disgusting in the world - animal skins, snakes, moles, bats, dogs, cats - anything considered protein.

No animals left in Japageria except well guarded dogs and cats, rats and cockroaches.

Most Nigerians here sound a bit ignorant

Expecting south Africa to have similar food as our's and even getting surprised they are not eating swallows etc

like come on South Africa and Nigeria are very far from each other, So we really don't have much in common. Most of our tropical crops here too can't be grown in south Africa, there are some difference in our weather, climate and vegetations, hence most crops found here are not common there.

We can only expect some level of similarities in
our food with our west African brothers.

Southies are meat, bread and pap people grin

Someone here inferred we didn't know beef until white people came to SA.Can you imagine somebody fixing their fingers to type some dumb shìt like that?😩

Add a variety of vegetables to the mix.

Atleast our meat is not questionable hidden inside soup - which is all you people cook. When we say beef its beef unlike you who even conceal rats in your soup.

There's no such thing as disgusting meat in Nigeria- anything goes in those soups.

Imagine a chicken piece, with cow skin, and guinea fowl and whatever other bush meat like giant rant in one pot ☹️☹️☹️

Not to mention baboons and chimps.

That's the root of cannibalism.

And then they come criticise black SA food.

Truth is : I'm very dissatisfied with the foods or snacks posted.
Nothing there was attractive to me.
