This set of U-20s is not too bad compared to some other sets where it was too glaring that they were filled with older players. What makes me especially happy about this year's squad is that the gifted ones like Eletu, Sarki, Daga, Benjamin and Nnadi look very young.

charlesemeka85:
Looking at Daga I doubt he is up to 20 years old. Facially he looks very young

The goalkeeper looks solid. With better coaching he could be knocking on the door of the SE pretty soon.

Akor Jerome Adams with a brace for Lillestrøm SK today in a cup game.

His 8th and 9th goals of the 2023 season in Norway respectively.

9 goals in 11 games across all competitions so far.

From my analyses, I literally said this...

"Nnadi is a such a pearl in the middle of this Nigerian side. He brings the energy, the intensity and that decent level of technicality in our progressive vertical plays. Call him the "Michael Essien" of this team and you won't be far from the truth. A box to box demon.
His role vs Argentina ensured that Daga didn't have to go Box-to-Box this time. Nnadi's role interpretation was key to why Daga was able to focus solely on sitting in front of the back 4 and screening that defence with Poise and class."

Ask yourself why Nnadi was picked vs Argentina in midfield and Eletu dropped.

Both are fantastic young talents but they have their merits and demerits.

Exactly the energy and the balance he gave the team was clear to see and appreciate.

the difference between both is that Nnadi presently is playing men’s football in Bulgaria while Eletu is playing primavera football in Italy.

When watching Eletu play you will accept the fact that the guy talent wise is superior to others in the team despite his young age. He’s football intelligence and technique is above others while Nnadi comes second from my observation but currently the latter tops him due to the exposure and experience of playing men’s football

Both are for the future but currently I think Nnadi is more ready. Eletu is massively talented but needs more time.

In a season or two a move out on loan to midtable serie A or serie B teams will aid he’s development

That's true, definitely, eletu will have the longest career of them all because he look really young to possess that high level of skill and compete at this level. He will surpass many of these guys with time because he is in a better place to develop his skill set coupled with his youthful age. All he needs is the discipline and drive he will surely be a beauty of a star in future.

Oga you too dey deviate on issues and always trying to broaden simple football basics bringing theoretical analysis over tactical analysis……Nigeria defeated Argentina 2-0 in a WC match hosted by Argentina and you are asking me how many top successful sides play with park bus.

Oga thegoodjoe I respect you a lot, accepting facts doesn’t make one a loser, even great lawyers loses in courts and move on,not everything should be centered on long epistle just to prove what is glaring to laymen.

I did not say we did not win. I said we should not get carried away because the better side lost.

In the long run, history favors the side that plays better. You can beat a side in a game with negative tactics but you can not build a reputable side in a long run with it.

We can celebrate we won but we need to face reality that we were not electric.

We stayed camped and were dominated.

I know so much about tactics and I have watched these game for ages. We were outplayed. We can celebrate the win but it does not change reality.

In which book or world of football tactical analysis is it stated that playing offensive style is the only proper way to play football? Why should the defensive aspect be ignored ?
When you face a team you know has a better advantage than you, it's just common sense to adopt a tactic that would nullify your opponent style and at the same time creating room for you to hit them..that was what we did yesterday.. our defense held them down and we hit them on the counter with pace and physicality.. I don't see what the problem here is...
That was how Marcelo Bielsa was trying to match all the teams he faced in the EPL with Leeds man to man with offensive tactics until it backfired and he was sacked..
PS: I'm not a fan of defensive football especially when it is the norm in a team..

The bolded is the point. It is not advantage but when you face a side better than you, or a tactically superior team, you park bus hoping to win.

It does not make you a better side.

So we should not get excited.

So why are you guys arguing what you termed common sense.

We should not get excited because we were not the better side.

Finito.

The question has nothing to do with what I like or do not like.

The point is, there is a working system adopted by most top sides. It has shown to improve players and teams.

So if parking bus and counter attacking is what you all approve, how come it is a system not adopted by quality sides.

This is sticking to a system that is not working in the long run.
As a coach, you adopt a tactic based on your team's strengths. The personnel in this team is largely of strong and fast players with very little or no technical ability if you leave out the number 10 guy.

so what do you expect the coach to come up with coming face to face with those Argentines.

Another thing you should know today is strength, pace and stamina is a hell of an antedote for a technical team like the Argies.

If the bolded was true, we won't need to park bus.

You agree we lack technical players. Tactically, we are not there too. So why is everyone getting worked up for me saying the truth.

Let us not get excited with the win because we were the inferior side.
