That's why it's popularly said that if Nigeria sneezes, most West African countries will catch cold!

Formerly buying petrol less than #200 and being made to pay about #500 for the same product is a lot of sacrifice. I just hope these people in government don't loot the money.
No money anywhere to loot.
The money was borrowed to subsidize the product.

What will happen to those smugglers that divert our petrol there? Are these bike men coming to Nigeria to buy the fuel? Blame the wicked smugglers instead.

Propaganda... SMH

When Jonathan , a son of the "south South" Removed this same subsidy in 2012,

The people spreading all this propaganda, supporting removal of subsidy today were the same people protesting against it then at Ojota with APc leadership...

They called Jonathan all sorts of names, carried a coffin for him.. Wole Soyinka, Tunde Bakare to name a few..

Today, because it's their own "son"
They're no where to be found..

I will not say I haven't witnessed evil in my days here..
Evil lives here.

If GEJ had removed subsidy, same story.

Plus GEJ did not remove subsidy because of a few people..he did not remove it for the same reason abacha did not remove it too..Nigerians said no

Small people make noise, he start to shake, reverse the right decision? yet he still lost the 2015 election?

Mumu Man.

Why do you people automatically lose your brain the moment you start supporting APC?

Every sane society hopes to elect a president who has empathy and compassion towards his people.

Here you are insulting Jonathan for being that president. You need psychiatric evaluation!

on a side note;

due to the high rate of fake news & propaganda making nairaland frontpage,we have decided to create a thread to counter those fake news & propaganda.
It's also disheartening that those news are spread by big news outlets & blogs, nevertheless, it's our duty to mitigate their acceptability to the general public.

Don't trust that news yet!

They definitely will loot it as usual. Did you know subsidy have long been removed from other petroleum products except PMS. What has been done with all the excesses from there? Absolute nothing. Fingers crossed a new sheriff is in town though.

Election loser move on! Even your Obi, the sore loser was planning to end even fuel subsidy in Nigeria.
Only a stupid Nigerian would want Nigeria to continue to borrow to subsidize fuel for Africa while his country collapses.
Where is the money to pay for the subsidy?
Get sense abeg!

Which money?

The Subsidy is sponsored on a loan.
So no more subsidy , the loan stops

Smuggled Nigerian fuel is cheaper, thus black markets make money while filling stations in those countries struggle.

Pictures below are examples of a common sight in Benin Republic. Now, with the subsidy removed, smuggling will not be profitable again and the black markets in those countries will close down while their filling stations will smile again

So, this is how STUPID (no apology) Nigeria has been all these while !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Subsidizing fuel for the neighboring countries for very few individuals to be living larger than life,

while the vast majority are living in abject poverty, our infrastructures are in total decay,

educational systems are in shambles, etc, etc

He's a very patient God indeed.

Please, Tinubu just fire ON.

Yes, it has increased the existing hardship, but it's clear after this PAIN, there will be GAIN.

You are just talking the truth now.
For me, I will always blame Jonathan for landing us in this mess. He was the reason why we ended up with a Buhari... Only if he had demonstrated some boldness, action and firmness but no, the guy was just too weak, slow and ineffective.
He was seen as a weakling and was bullied.

But then we are here with Tinubu. I pray he lead us well by God's grace....
