Stoplying:Answer my question first.Do the Indians with their large population in England and several other countries tag their host communities' A NO MAN'S LAND'? Mind you the indians also contribute alot to the economy of their host communities. And how do you know I'm a Lagos migrant and not a Lagos indigene? 2 Likes 1 Share |

No one can try to tell an Anambra man who should lead him in ekwulobia. Why should such a man now try to impose an omo ale on us ? Make it make sense 1 Like |

ibtommy:Yoruba are not indigenous to Lagos, they are migrants just like the Igbo and haussa. If you want to compare with Enugu then you need to use the example of Ibadan, not Lagos. You guys are the example of bad migration policy. You are a bunch of migrants, many of you haven't even migrated yet, and you believe you are many enough to just basically claim the land exclusively for yourselves now. |

Iupacnomenclatu:Your claim of "Lagos is Yorubaland" is just as disgusting as the Igbo claim of "Lagos is no man's land", you are both wrong and disgusting. How do I know that you are a migrant and not an indigene ? Ask yourself how you know! Unless you are more than 500 years old, what proof can you provide ? I actually know the history of Lagos and the fact it was taken from Benin by the British and then flooded with slaves and other migrants, the migration continues to this day. |

Stoplying: You are blinded and insane that is why you can be rubishing Lagos Traditional council. You called IDEJO chief IDEJO guy, Legislation will open your eyes. I forwarded your insanity on nairaland to him and few other elders. They agreed legislation will open your eyes. If not oral history that was documented for record purposes, the tradition and culture would not have been preserved. Nobody can tell the Aworis, Ijebus and Eegun of Lagos their history more than themselves. They have been living on the land for centuries before colonial masters or civilizations or education or history came. Coronation rites for new king, Burial rites for King that joined their ancestors, historical sites and rites, traditional festival are all transmitted from generation to generation orally before being documented by those chosen to do so. Propaganda written as history can never be used by Lagos Council of Traditional rulers and Lagos Parliament. Chinedu cannot come and scatter Rhodes Vivour family. In Yoruba land, there is a popular adage that when a prominent family is peaceful and progressive, a bastard child among them has not grown up. Now, we can see he has grown up. There is nothing anybody can do against that legislation. |

I have been following some comments here on nairaland for a very long time on the issue of Lagos ownership. I think it's just pure jealousy on the part of the Igbo people. Y'all claiming Lagos is no man's land is just the height of it. Na only una tribe they claim Lagos ownership, as if you people are the only tribe living in Lagos with the Yorubas. Y'all should please stop this rubbish and stop taking Yoruba people accomodating nature for foolishness. I[img][/img]

Samueli007:So someone write Lagos belongs to awori and Yoruba in the internet, therefore it is true ? Please be serious, as I already stated, Yoruba are migrants in Lagos just like Igbo and haussa. And actually the most disrespectful migrants in Lagos are the Yoruba who basically are trying to colonize Lagos. |

Stoplying: You are the greatest fool for arguing what you don't know. I was just engaging you for the purpose of other people reading my submissions. Because there is IDEJO Street in VI, you think IDEJO chief is a guy. You are rubbishing a very high Traditional Council of Lagos . Which logic are you talking about? Your case is like the case of an IBO man arguing with an Oyo prince about Oyo history at the Computer Village. He was using Google to tell Oyo history to a Prince from the Palace. Despite correction from those who accompanied the Prince and the people around, he stuck to Google history. You are one of them. The game is up. Chinedu can never rule Lagos. I have an audio documentary on Lagos created by the IBOS before election. They said Lagos belongs to Bini and that the present Oba of Lagos is from Bini. They said Lagos has a population of about 15 million people and the IBOS are the majority. Therefore, they should be in control because they are paying the highest taxes. Your history is part of that documentary. The game is up. |

If you must know, that law is specifically targeted at IGBO living in Lagos because of your stupidity and same law will be replicated in all other south western states. Oh my ...only if you guys have an idea of what is coming your way,you won't be here talking about Yoruba from Ogun state or Kogi state ! Ogbeni, the game is up for you guys in Lagos and by extension, other parts of Yoruba land. We will no longer allow our known enemies to prosper on our land again;enough is enough ! Watch out for some actions in Lagos state in few months to this time,e go shock you ! Take my hint : start planing your journey back to your village now !Alaigbo is your home and that where you guys belong, okay ? |

Stoplying: That a lie is repeated a million times does not make it true. There were several independent Yoruba speaking states in West Africa and Benin was one of them. No other language was used as lingua franca other than Yoruba. They named their towns Yoruba names. Ago Onibode, Ogotun and etc, use Ifa, worship Yoruba deities and etc. They speak Edo in their palace today only because the empire collapsed and not for any other reason. Edo was a language spoken behind the palace walls. Those were the kind of people that went to Lagos and the palace contained over 50,000 people living there. Why do you think we have Yoruba speaking people in Ugbodu and etc cut off from other Yorubas?. That is because of the Benin empire which was like Oyo, Ijesa, Ijebu and etc a Yoruba speaking state. Nigeria is a sorry country. Things built over thousands of years being pulled down because of foolish sentiments. I hope you understand the kind of Benin that were in Lagos now?. Then what the speaker said is for the indigenes, if himself is not an indigene then he will not benefit from it. Do you think the Awori, Ijebu, Egun and etc of Lagos should be erased from history?. Is that what you plan to do if you become Lagos governor?. |

tuzle:It makes no sense if you ask me because it will mean or perceive to me that you are marginalizing non-indigenes of Lagos. That could further fuel the bigotry that has started to rear it's ugly head. We claim that we still want one United Nigeria Shey, let's remain like this for now abeg. Me I like Igbos, I don't know about anybody. I don't have issue with them. Yes bad eggs amongst them. But which tribe doesn't have bad eggs? Let's be realistic abeg. |

kingsways: Partner I was this close in agreeing with you until the last election when people in Enugu state stated that a candidate born in Ebonyi state can never be governor in Enugu state. Mind you the man in question was an Ibo man and last time i checked Enugu state is also Ibo, Now I am all in with this tribal thing. Let me know when a Yoruba person get elected into an office in any of the SE states, |

t2luv1:So the Enugu people are not tribalists therefore you support tribalism in Lagos? You said it yourself, they did not allow a man to be governor on the basis of him being Igbo, the requirement is that he must be born in Enugu. And your own conclusion is that any Yoruba should get preferential treatment in Lagos? Show me the logic here. |
Re: No Man’s Land: Rhodes-vivour Condemns Proposed Law To Protect Lagos Indigenes by Stoplying: 2:40pm On Jun 09, 2023 |
lawani:I don't do research in history like that, the internet is filled with trash and many of your revisionist brothers have written lots of rubbish on African history online. What exactly do you mean by "living things as evidence" and how do the things you claim are evidence prove your claim. Don't expect me to help you prove your own claim which I know is false! I don't go on wild goose chases. It is very simple, provide evidence, nothing less, nothing more. |

Stoplying: If you can't google, you can travel. Ask the meaning of Agenebode, Ogotun and what language they speak in Ugbodu and environs in Delta state and what deities are worshipped in Benin and why one of their Kings was called Ogun and etc. I guess you are Igbo. It is better you focus your energy on holding Igbo together as a force rather than playing a spoiler in the affairs of others. I don't see how such an attitude can help anybody. |

It is not hard to retrieve your details from nairaland when shit hits the fan and trust me, I would champion you and your like to receive the maximum punishment when that time comes. |
Re: No Man’s Land: Rhodes-vivour Condemns Proposed Law To Protect Lagos Indigenes by Iupacnomenclatu(f): 3:04pm On Jun 09, 2023 |
Stoplying:lolll..I see your point.Lagos belongs neither to the Yorubas or Igbos!Your history book says it was originally occupied by the Binis as a base for trading ,mind you.But they(the BinIs)were reportedly expelled OVER 500 years ago!Good..fine! This is what I say. If the Binis can claim ownership and claim also to be the original indigenes of an area that was used primarily as a port of entry and a base as per their trade with the British and Portuguese then so can the Yorubas and the Aworis who have also traded, lived in,governed and defined Lagos culturally for hundreds of years now. Ibadan as 'history' says was an abode for yorubas displaced by the dahomey and Fulani warriors.Did those displaced, fleeing yorubas meet the original inhabitants of Ibadan ?I assume they must have.Did they later outnumber and maybe possibly displace the original inhabitants?obviously, they did.Are they eligible to be called indigenes.I believe you won't say they aren't. So to to compromise on your point of argument.Iet's say I 'temporarily'agree that Lagos once belonged to the Binis but then not anymore. But do kindly tell 'those' calling Lagos 'A NO MAN'S LAND ' to know their place. Honestly, though I am not an 'historian' like you lol...I think logically Lagos might once have been originally inhabited by BOTH the Binis and the yorubas. For God's sake the oyo empire with its with close proximity to Lagos and its thriving slave trade couldn't have ignored a strategic location like that not while waging wars and encroaching on other territories including that of the ancient Bini kingdom itself. |

lawani:The traditional religion of Benin is the worship of Thane ancestors of the Oba. Which One of Benin was called Ogun? Where is your evidence? And even if that were the case, what exactly would that prove ? Now you are making claims about lsnguage spoken in delta state And it is about guessing my ethnicity ? How did we go from "provide evidence" to this ranting of yours ? Dude, just prove your claims instead of making other unsubstantiated, unrelated or illogical claims. |

Stoplying: You enjoy having discussion with those who are not equipped enough to answer you. Did you expect Yorubas to document events that happened when there were no formal education? Your history is a propaganda. Which of the areas in Lagos bears EDO name. Apart from Ado the Bini Prince who was invited to setup the Benin system of Monarchy, which other name is that of Benin? The seclusion (Ipebi) and coronation rites for king, the burial, the Oro, Eyo and other traditional festivals have nothing to do with Binis. Erelu Abiola Dosunmu said it might be by Conquest, but she should tell us when the Binis and Aworis went to war?.Orally, I was told how Prince Ado was invited by the early settlers on Lagos Island. |

How will you as a third party that was not there be the one to force those two people to agree with your position? And how did you come about that position? Then how does it affect you?. A court would fine you if you file such a petition before it. |

bakynes: At excerpt in bold - it isn’t true. Ekiti and Ondo were NEVER part of Benin kingdom (Eko wasn’t as well). It’s just modern fake history by Benin revisionists. Ekiti today is one of the oldest Yoruba settlements and at no point was any inch of their land part of Benin Kingdom. In Ondo, Owo defeated Benin kingdom twice and Ilaje (Mahin) killed multiple Benin kings. If you’re Yoruba, you should endeavour to study in-depth Yoruba history and stop aiding these people in spreading their fallacies and jejune tales. Benin kingdom only gained notoriety due to its stolen art works (which they learned in Ife and Owo) hence they’re able to embellish their fake stories. Do better. |
