Hi Bobomaigida, thanks for your response. Not sure if you uynderstand me correctly. The Statement would be for four months but one month old. e.g March to June Statement but submitted Around August or late July. Also, does it have to be notarized. Thanks again.

SOA does not need to be notarized, however, 1 month is too old to keep a statement before submitting it. Alot can happen in a month.

He should spell it out. You are a co sponsor and nothing wrong in wording it that way

Can someone please suggest an affordable school that I can apply for a post graduate diploma. I am a BSc holder but I don't know if my qualification (3rd class) will be okay for a master degree. Hence, I want to go for a post graduate diploma but still open to master degree if it's possible. My first degree is in environmental management, so I'd loved to go for any environmental related courses. @ Bobomaiga and other gurusplease help

IRCC requirement is at least 4 months, however, some people have submitted shorter periods, but they will have to explain why they are submitted such periods.

Well, I submitted 2 months and 2 weeks and was approved without explaining why it was shorter. I just feel if you don't have volatile balance and convincing explanation of source of income, they wouldn't bother about duration of SOA used

Hello everyone, I am new on Nairaland and I was denied study visa yesterday. I have been following this thread randomly but I need answers and guidance from the gurus in the house. I went for a one year certificate program and was denied yesterday 28th June reason bothering not having enough funds to pay the remaining balance of tuition and don't believe I will return back to Nigeria after completion of studies, I'm still in shock and I've not ordered for gcms note yet. Also, I applied through an agent and think it wise to inform them on the latest update on my visa application. but I wish to reapply but I don't know if its for the next academic session starting May 2024 or still for this session starting September 5 2023 pardon my confusion. I was the sole sponsor for this denied application but I intend adding my brother that resides in the USA as my co-sponsor for the next application. Suggestions and advice from the gurus in the house would be much appreciated at this point. Please, kindly reach out to me in this thread I wait for your replies. Thank you.

Give more details or your previous application and what form of sponsorship your brother is bringing in then you will get good feedbacks. Also, you might have to get a more professional help with your sop.

Finally, if you have been actively working or doing business then your brother can only be a co sponsor. That would make more sense. Probably you sponsor yourself for living expenses and miscellaneous while he covers tuition

Well, due to the current unstable rate, they might just ask you to send in updated SOA. So make plans to have the funds there incase you are asked to send updated SOA.

You don't have to notarize it

as a self sponsor, you are expected to pay your full tuition for one year, you can still reapply if you get your note on time against fall,if the money for tuition is available then just pay the complete fees then let your brother in USA send money for the living expenses..then you are good to go
Who says he is expected to pay for his tuition for 1 year?

Hi,

Getting a Master's degree admission with 3rd class is very difficult, so your focus and search should be in colleges that have the kind of course you want to study. You can search with google using the name of the course and colleges offering them under Post Graduate or Diploma Certificate programme.

Ben, there is a lot of work involved in getting scholarships, fortunately, you have a very strong grade that will give you a head start.

1. Look for Universities that offer the kind of course you want to study.
2. Check if the schools have scholarships offering for students in that course.
3. Send emails to faculty members to know if they are admitting students for the course and if funding is available.

Use google to search too, there are some people who help prospective students with directions on how to get scholarships, you can get them on google and follow their directions.

That is where you start from.

Thank you bro. I have been managing my late dad's business since I graduated over 10years. I have never worked for any firm. So I don't have any working experience with my certificate as a BSc graduate. How will I address the study gap?

Also, Since a diploma certificate is lower than BSc degree, do I have to sweep my BSc certificate under the carpet while applying since I am supposed to go for a post graduate studies instead.

Raise web form with URGENT as the first line. Let them know that eligibility is yet to start despite meeting all their requirements. Plead with them to attend to your application as the resumption is close and application has crossed processing time. Also send mails to all the team mail.

I have already sent both webform and emails

Hello guys, I finally got my PPR, I have been a silent observer of this wonderful forum, I have been actively following the thread since 2020 but at that time I didn’t have enough resources to follow through with the study visa application.

In 2022, I applied to the University of Calgary to pursue a master's degree in software engineering, Unfortunately, I didn’t get picked because of my first degree, you need to have some prerequisite courses which I didn’t have because I studied petroleum engineering but I got offered a master in geomatics engineering which to me was a win-win since I didn’t want my 120 CAD (application fee to waste).

Fast forward to this year I was already considering the United Kingdom because my letter acceptance didn’t come fast but as God will have it I didn’t get my admission on time event at the moment I typed this message I still haven’t received admission to both schools. Calgary did not get back to me with my letter of acceptance until May 2023.

After I received my admission letter, I also got a message that my acceptance fee of 500 CAD must be paid on or before 30 days of receiving the notification. I paid the fee and that was the only money I paid for school, no first-semester fee, or full tuition deposit. I planned out the document I was going to submit and I knew the part to work on was my home ties to Nigeria since I am not married.

I am a first-time applicant.

Timeline for my application

- Application Submission was on May 23rd, 2023
- Biometrics was done on May 26th, 2023
- Medical Request came on June 2nd, 2023
- Medical Done on June 20th, 2023
- Medical Passed on June 27th, 2023
- PPR June 28th, 2023

Documents Submitted

- SOP (too detailed, Explained all my finances)
- Passport Bio-data page
- Family Tree
- Affidavit of common-law (Since I am not married)
- Pictures with my common-law partner
- Rent with my common-law (living together for 2 years)
- Landed Properties (Pictures and documents)
- Non-Profit Organization (Active member with evidence to my profile on the website)
- Affidavit of one and same person
- Recommendation letter from my past employer
- Payslip for 3 months (Salary of 1,320,000)
- Work ID Card
- Letter of sponsorship from my company
- Pictures with my dogs
- BCS Membership certificate
- Resume
- Reference Letter from my Bank
- Statement of account (A lump sum of 20 million was paid in 3 days before printing the statement for school fees from my company)
- Pension Plan
- Bamboo Investment account

To anyone reading this and expecting their PPR, yours is next IJN. I also want to mention I have no travel experience in fact I was denied America Visa last year which I also stated in my application. There is no same application just find a way to say your truth and provide all the basic funds.

Anyone going to Calgary please send me a private message so we can connect.

I appreciate everyone that has been active on this platform sharing their experience and thoughts with us, just know that all you do will be rewarded.
