Hello guys,

I am planning on submitting my study visa application by Monday (10th July, 2023) and I am hopeful to get biometric request soon.
I want to ask, do I need a passport photograph as a requirement for getting biometrics done?

Your answers will help me with my planning as I do not reside in Lagos. Thanks

You can make use of wakanow website to get the fair prices for different airlines and you will be able to make the best decision.
Cost of flight has greatly increased especially with the recent spike in foreign exchange rate

Zeed13:
which airline is recommended for flying to Canada?
The prices here are very expensive.

Any list of recommendations, please?

7 weeks? shocked shocked shocked . And I was making arrangements for 5 weeks max for the collection.

Those using courier have also been complaining of delays too.

Thanks for the information.

I will really like to know from others that recently collected their passports? Please what's the wait time for the collection?
Hi Accessed

7 weeks from date of passport submission to in-person collection from the VAC is very rare, there must have been a problem somewhere. Like what @zubizareta said, I think the maximum time is 2 weeks if you submit to VAC Lekki.

I submitted my passport to the VAC Abuja last week Friday using DHL, I just picked up this morning, so total of 4 working days.

Best regards

You will get biometric request same day or the next day of application.
You don’t need passport photographs but you need your international passport

It will be better to prove that he is your uncle, probably your mum's brother. Let him sworn affidavit to that effect. He will need to show financial commitment by transfering the fund to your personal account. He will also provide his bank statements and proof in the affidavit that sponsoring you will not affect his other financial commitment. Aside this, you should be ready to prove your home or economic ties and write a strong SOP to tidy all.

My greetings to everyone here, I am about to apply for the Canadian student permit and I have a question. My dad's friend who is very financially well off,, is willing to sponsor me for a PGD which is a one year program and he deposited $8000(Usd not Cad) in my domiciliary account 8months ago. He willingly to paid first term tuition which is 9000cad and deposits the balance of 9000cad in my domiciliary account. My lingering question is that is tenable to the VO that someone who isn't your family is willing to your education. Expert in the house 🙏

Good evening people, I need opinions on this issue, my sister got admission in a school in Canada and applied for student visa unfortunately she was denied visa saying insufficient funds and they don’t think she would leave canada after study. Meanwhil
1- what do you think we should do now because part fees have been paid.

2- do you think she should reapply then add more funds to what she already has?

3- do you think I should stand as her sponsor because I’m a PR in Canada, mind you she did not mention she has a sister in Canada in her previous application and that I paid the part fees.

4- if she get more money to add how can she explain it because we already said she sold a land and got gift deeds from her sibling.

5- finally, what is the best way out of this.

Thank you

Please let her request for her GCMS notes first to know the exact reasons for refusal. That will guide what you do when she is reapplying.

Just to put some clarity to IRCC process, if you submit an upfront medical along with your application, the medical/background and eligibility will all be processed simultaneously, though background check starts first.

There is dedicated team that reviews your medical, this team does not involve the VO handling your application. The team that reviews your medical, will either pass it or fail it and in some cases request for more tests, while these are going on, the VO is processing other things, like the background and eligibility checks.

So, an applicant's medical test might be passed by the review team, and they see it on their portal but subsequently fails eligibility checks which leads to refusal.

On the other hand, when your VO has completed your background and eligibility checks and passes you, they check if the applicant has medical results on their file, and if they see if they have passed medicals, if the medicals are passed, they then proceed to issue PPR, if they see there is no upfront medical on file, that is when they send a medical request to the applicant to go for medical examination. That is why 95% of those that get medical request eventually get PPR.

This is just to help us understand the process especially for those just starting the process.

Its clearer now. Are you saying the difference is basically on whether IRCC issues the medical request or if it was upfront medicals (done at the instance of the applicant)? in other words, once IRCC issues a Medical Request, it is almost certain that once that is updated to Pass, PPR follows. However, if an upfront Medicals done is updated to pass, there is no guaranty that PPR will follow. Is this your position ?

Canada does not care if you have done NYSC or not, so going for NYSC is your personal choice, bear in mind that it is mandatory for Nigerian Citizens sha.

1. So you can apply for any certificate, with your 2:1, I think you should look for masters and possibly target schools that have scholarships.
2. Use google to search for this, your field is very special, so you will see many options after searching.

Firstly, why graduate diploma and not Masters since you graduated with second class upper.

Secondly you don’t need to complete NYSC before you can gain admission to any institution in canada.

It's a generic statement, basically you have insufficient funds. You can order your notes to have more details of the vo concern?

Thanks for the response sir, my reason is that i don't want a two years program so that my cost will be reduced as my budget is not much

That’s straight forward just look for college who has programs that align with your interest. Your profile looks strong and you stand a high chance of getting accepted into any college.

Just used my dads account and it’s a microfinance bank with 30m in it..my dad is my sponsor..the 30m is not a lump sum
My course is 2yrs
About 18000cad per year

The reason is clear. Microfinance bank. Huge red flag. VO will have concerns of the money being available for your study.

So move the funds to a conventional bank and attach statements of acct, letter of explanation explaining the transfer.

Obviously you will need to rework the cost of pof due to the new rate.

Your chances are slim to get into a university for a masters program but to can try. However colleges will accept you with full chest. Seneca college always offer application fee waiver you can look into that.

Dear Nairalander, i am not happy, i just want to pour out my mind. I got Admission for PGD for Hospitality Management with SELKIRK college since February, deadline for payment was April, due to delay from GTB (Form A wahala) that payment was not made. GTB bank refund my money after 5 months of wait. i contact if January intake is still available for me which was confirmed. i eventually paid the fees using Black Market. After confirming payment, i was told only May 2024 is available, This is really not fair and I'm not happy about this.

Exchange rate is not friendly here in Nigeria

Waiting extra 10 month's!!!

Exchange rate of Naira to CAD might be too high for me

Exchange rate will depreciate my proof of funds

It will devalue what I have as pof.

GOD!
