I'm still trying to understand the reasoning behind the extensive process you're undertaking. Did you buy this house? Is it a family property or an inheritance?

You're doing well, but I'm concerned that you might end up spending a whole lottt. Considering the poor condition of the wooden supports that hold up the ceiling, it would have been ideal to work on the wooden supports. The ceiling is visibly bent inward because the wood work is bad.

I also noticed the door is in a very poor shape. Omo, make e be your property sha. cheesy

I see crates of beer close to the main door. Is the room close to a major road? I would advise against using white paint oo. I take God beg you.

Make I stop for now... cheesy

Ur a real one.
Nas is Genius.

Look at these 2 lines frm his song, 'the cure.'

Steak tartare bloody, mercury levels from raw fish
Sushi for lunch, waiter at the table, the cork twist...

Reminds me of Shakespeare ( see poetic rhyming abeg)
Or, the opening lines from Black Bond off the Life is Good album...

"I pull a string on the lamp and shit darkens
I'm living in an elegant Moroccan apartment
Proletarian chicks sparking
Convo weak and I don't really care for her jargon
Balcony is windy, looking at the stars and
Alky on the Henny, woozy in the head, wobbling
Gucci pillow on the bed, while she giving nogging. "

Nas gets so vivid with his raps.

haaa...you wan put am for gbese..... He would be spending 192,000 naira to cover the square meter of that room ceiling only...
He said the room size is 12ft by 12ft so apparently that would give us about 12.96sqm, he wont expand up to 192k on that bro, With about 90k he would get the pop done.

D work man nor advise u well... Cos he's looking to make money from d deal.. buying of topbond wasn't necessary as there's a paint that act as both paint n bond...

D 20k satin emulsion is how many litres? I would have advised u use same amount to get silk... U would have love it best
Top bond and water seal are very necessary in any screeding job unless you wish to cut corners,I always advice my clients not to cut corners though and regarding the painting I'm not sure those local producers would be able to produce a standard silk paint. They would easily come up with good satin paints though.

OP

I understand say money fit no dey to take do POP. But atleast try put PVC.

If that outdated ceiling stays?
The room remains archaic no matter the other renovations and innovations you'll feel you've done.

A lady recently criticised me that why do I like to do most of the things myself? Imagine! I had to explain to her that it's called DIY and since I have plenty of idle time, nothing bad in it. That at least, it keeps me busy. She said that I don't like to spend money.

Since you already have POP cement and paint...

I will advise you take out the tie rods of your ceiling. That is those borders of the slate. It is something you can remove yourself.

Once it is out, your ceiling would be a flat surface with just the wooden edges exposed. Proceed to fill up the exposed wood with the POP cement. Smoothen properly, allow to dry and paint with white emulsion paint.

If you want, you can add get an electrician to add POP lights or just leave it bare

Screeding your walls and painting it won't give you the desired look if you ignore that ceiling and if you decide to fix the ceiling later, the process would ruin the walls.

POP on slate is ideal for people on a budget or minimalists. Most POP guys would refuse to do it because they rather you give them 200k.

Is this DIY?
You’re very right, he will just use tape on the joint part of the ceiling and screed it

NOTED BOSS
I'm here to learn

Slynation:
As long as it's a screeding job, that process is shining, you might want to use polishing when it's stuccor work process...

Chai...I just feel OP is wasting money. He should have prime the walls with emulsion paint, then sandpaper it and fill the necessary holes, then use a silk/satin paint to give it a shining look... Either way, you get a shining looking surface on a lower budget.

It is a tradition for white women or men to paint their baby’s rooms themselves before the baby comes, it is easy to do yourself and does not require any brain activity. Most paint their whole apartment themselves, it is a popular bonding activity with friends.

It’s like people getting scammed by agents when they can simply just apply to their country of choice by using the country’s website. Imagine someone saying, you can’t do it yourself, you need someone to mediate with the country for you.

We act like royalty in this country ontop of poverty.
Saving yourself money you can put to good use for something else is now something to be ashamed of? Who likes to spend money on things they can do themselves? Financial illiteracy is the biggest disease Nigerians have and we wonder why we are so poor.
