If you’re a very active person, it’s not out of place; as the recommended daily allowance for adults is about 2000 to 2500Kcal. Some even up to 3000.

How did the app come up with your calorie intake?

Explain how the app calculated your calories...

I have the weigh scale. I put my food on top of the scale. Open the app. And it accurately record the macros, calories and everything else!!! The company that designed the scale also make the accompanied app. It has almost 90% of foods known to man.

How is the calculation done when you dont indicate the kinds of food being weighed?

Are you not the one that said you weigh 37.6kg? And you are still using the faulty scale.

Unless the weighing scale has sensors, it seems the app is simply using food weight to determine composition of nutrients and calories.

Op abeg put 1kg of meat and post the result, then put 1kg of pap and post the result, I want to check something

It has the log of almost all foods together with their nutritional information. You’ll search for the name of your foods and select it. The screenshot below is the list of all kind of spaghetti known to man together with their nutrition and all. When u select it,the app will automatically detect the weight of the food you place on the scale and give you the exact nutrition and calories for that exact weight

I bought the scale from Amazon (you can get the same kind of place anywhere you are in Nigeria, just search jiji or whatever)and it came with a barcode that allow me to download the app. It’s on playstore actually . so you subtract the weight of the plate from the value you get from food + plate

Yea. The app senses the weight of the food u place on the scale, then u select the name of the food (you can search for it on the top), then it’ll give you every information

You don’t have to. Before u add the ur food, and once u put the plate on the scale, press tare ,it’ll make everything zero. You get? Then when you start adding your foods, what you have is the exact weight of the food without the plate

Then the app is wrong
How can weight be used to determine the percentage composition of maybe fats, vitamins, sodium, carbohydrates etc in a food.

What if am cooking a soup and I added more oil and less vegetables and then I cooked the same soup again and this time around, added less oil and more vegetables, obviously there will be a difference in the nutrient composition of the two soups even though they are the same type of soup. The app won't be able to detect these differences.

I think in the future when an accurate version of such app would need to be made, instead of weighing scale, they might use x-rays, gamma rays or infrared to bombard every molecule of the food to obtain the correct Information about the nutrient composition and calories.

You’re the only person that is wrong here. Lemme explain.

The nutrient composition in food are determine by their weight. 100g of rice can have about 380calories for example. Depending on the method of cooking, calories change, and nutrition also change. If add veg oil to my own rice ,of course that will constitute and add some more calories from fat. Also. 100g of beef can have about 24g of protein, 6g of fats etc. These things have been pre-determined. That’s why you will need to weigh everything and determine their calories before cooking.

Nah,science has not advance to that level. X-ray is energetic, true. But bombarding your foods with such rays can poison ur foods. And there’s no correlation as of now between your last point at all

Ok, I might be wrong as regards to calories
What about nutrient.
Does 100g of rice which was cooked with just tomatoes and red oil have the same nutrient composition with 100g of rice which was cooked with ginger, tomatoes, crayfish, onions, vegetable oil, curry leaves etc.

Educate me bro, I want to learn. Nobody knows it all

How will the app know that you added more vegetable oil in that particular food and account for the change in calories. How will it even know the actual volume of oil to perform the correct calculation.

Bro am not sure these things can accurately be predetermined cos the number of situations not accounted for is Infinite

Calories will be different in both cases. That’s why I’m nutrition, all calories are “calories before cooking or frying or whatever “. Once you cook a food, depending on the method of cooking ,the weight of the food will either increase or decrease. For example, 100g of Spaghetti add about 30% to it’s weight after cooking cuz of course you add water to cook it and the weight will increase. That’s why you need to measure the weight before you cook it. It’s the raw weight that give u the real calorie value. And in order not to confuse u,that’s why these scales and these apps are designed. These scales have been optimized to reconcile these differences, hence the app know the difference between a cook rice and an uncooked one.

So to know what calorie is in your rice that u want to eat, weigh the raw rice on that scales, record the calorie it give u. If you want to eat it with two meats, weigh the meat also, the calorie will be recorded . If you also wanna eat with it avocado,do the same thing. That way you’ve take record of everything you are eating with that rice. The app knows these differences. I have used it,you have not. I can’t raeally explain, but it’s perfect for me. That’s the way I think about this

😂 😂 why are Nigerians like this. It weighs it!! It weighs it!!! You weigh what you add!! I’ve use this app and scale for days
