What about those who are not civil servants or those who are unemployed? Will the increase in minimum wage cater for them?

What about the attendant Inflation an increase from 30k minimum wage to 100k will cause?
Will the 8k reach all the 12 million households as proposed by this govt., with these crop of corrupt politicians in power?
To me, increasing the minimum wage is a better idea than the organized loot of 8k.

Ayo25:
People who say things like this have a warped knowledge of economics. You can't just be jacking up wages and yes I agree that politicians wages and earnings too should be cut down.

•I just laugh each time people come on air or on Platforms, to give opinions on Economics without basis! What is the Multiplier Effect of Money to be given without corresponding Production?
-From what I heard and read, the thing is called 'Parliatiaves' and is for Six Months Only but people are twisting the whole Messages for political reasons or tribal comments but why?
• We have the NLC -who are and should be Chief Negotiator for a Collective Bargaining but- for over 8- yrs of Buhari, they were no-where -No-Voice,during COVID - 19-Lockdown - Palliatives-by Safia -Humanitarian Dissaster Minister was no where to be found by NIGERIANS, the Money has gone the drain and how was that Fund spent ?
Now,the Labour Leaders suddenly wake up, they wants to go on Strike, because Subsidies have been removed, instead of them to settle down and liase - with the New govt and know the directions of Tinubu's Govt and how is it going to be made to the Poor Masses ,which accounts and Modalities will govt used?
Would it get to the Mechanics,Airdessers,Teachers, Plumbers, etc?
*Was Tinubu saying this is going to be Permanent Palliatives -No but payments is for 6- months, according to them and Labours should be concerned about its sharing so that it reaches the Masses, who really needs it!
- I saw NLC Proposals - very funny, over 300 - increase? Which Country does that and survived, especially when Buhari was borrowing throughout, with the connivance of the former Senate President ( Lawan) and other Co- Senators- who did not understand the Modus Operandi of the real Econometrics and Financial Implications!
- they also said the govt should spend on Intercity Rail! .Why can't the NLC tell us:
• their Estimated Spending/ Budgets- on the govt Proposals for the Public and the Financial Implications- to the Public too and let us to see how realistic they are? Indeed, talk is Cheap!
•What is the Incremental Costs- of their Proposals to the Retiree Welfare/ Pensioners -because in all these, NLC have been silent- concerning the Retirees -as if,they will not Retire one day from their Offices! You can see how Selfish we are as Nigerians!
My Proposal:
1•Minimum Wages for workers should be Doubled e g .New Workers should start taking home at least N/70K- and above and Companies and Offices should Negotiate with their inners Labour - Leaders Employers on Allowances - eg every 3-yrs Furniture allowance, Transportation Allowance Every year, etc.this is how things are done in a saner clime!
2•Govt should Embark on Aggressive INDUSTRIALISATION Of All Nigerians =Back To Work- by doing the Followings:
i.Esatablish Agricultural Farmlands:
ALL OVER Nigeria and Supervised the Agriculture Extension Workers.eg Palm Produce, Cotton Industry,Textiles,Cassava Production,
Modern Rubber Plantation,Fish-Farming, Poultry / Animals ( Cow,goats)Farms,Yam Production,Fruits Production( Jos used to have beutiful Fruits) Benue- is Farmers Delight because of the big and heavy Yam,Mangoes( Food Basket),etc-( we should not be importing all these)
- Rice Production- without stones)- if we are serious as a Nation!
•As a Nation,we should be able to Feed ourselves!
That is the first Revolution of any Nation!
3-Manufacturing of :
- Steel Industries Production.
-Iron Ore Production.
- Diaries/ Milk - Confectionery like Milos, Bournvita,etc
4-STEM:
•-Science and Scientific Researchers- in Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sectors and Medical Breakthroughs, should be our Cornerstones by now!
•-Technology of different Assemblages should come.( NOT IMPORT SUBSTITUTIONS ( of the 70's,80's90's)-thay were used to Steal and destroyed Nigeria Path to INDUSTRIALISATION then through export of Forex- when they get abroad, they used the Foreign Currency for personal used,so Nigeria as a Nation, did not benefit!
• -Engineering- Govt should establish a ' Benchmark' in Engineering Sector for all engineers-and why they must not fail,as there are different Engineering Fields!
-•Mathematics is dynamic and imbibes itself in other STEM and MUST be encouraged by Societies that wants development in this 21st Century!
We should should be able to train them locally and abroad- as done by- China and now India! Chinese used this Methods of Training their men abroad and Steal their Technology( Western Countries)
Today ,if you want to establish a Company in China- you Must get 60% of your Raw -Materials Locally!
*Did Nigerians see what happens 3- Days ago,(even on CNN)-when the India's -3rd time of Space / Moon Expedition became Historic, all over the World saw it! Our Population is not up to India of 1.4 Billions People but they are making giant Strides on this areas! Kudos to them!
-The World has now seen that - after America,China,it's India that has attempted the Moon.Congratulations to them!
5.REGULAR POWER- LIGHTS:
•That is why the issues of 24/7 Lights is critical to Nigeria Industrialization, otherwise,we are left behind in this 21- Century!
-We can achieve this Constant Light Problems,if we are serious- because of Corruption and those in that Sector don't want to improve our lives!
The present Discos are fallacies- as if they are doing us Favour to get lights! Las Vegas-City in USA is called ' City of Lights'
In Nigeria- no New Equipments,No Pre-paid Metres- only for those that can settled with big money for the 'Ogas' .Do you know that the Estimated Bills, you are given now,you will still pay it- when they bring your Pre-paid, Metres. That means, you have no choice over the Debt the Discos/ NEPA have accumulated for you- that is Corruption in itself because Nigerians are paying for darkness they never enjoyed the lights.
That is Fraud and some Nigerian/ Politicians- made us used to it! Yes,we now have Electricity Board- but is Not Enough because it is not flexible to establish your Company or Lights without- good Money or Source of Funds!
• Govt should establish the Energy Bank-as done in China,so that Individuals, Partnerships, Institutions- can Borrow Money Cheaply -to Solve our Power/ Energy needs.e g in most Estates- the Light can be established Independent of Discos- and this is better for Nigeria!
*If Nigeria wants to stop the 34% Youth In Employments or Japa Syndrome, going abroad, let the Govt get this Light issues Solved once and for all, because so many Reaseach and Delopment- will come out from here.
Education:
Is the falcrom of our Future and Youths of tomorrow!
•A Govt that failed to Budget the UNESCO- Ideal of Budget/ Funding On Education - will lag behind!
But Politicians steal more than what they Budget for our Education!
Why do our Politicians and Opinion Leaders failed to hold Nigerian various Past Government Accountable ,on why Foreigners are no longer coming to Study in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions is still difficult for people like me to fathom!
-Unilag,UI,etc and other Great Institutions- used to be where the Whites,South Africans and Other Africans came to Study in the 60s and up to early 80s,so what happend ?
Even today- Ghana is Charging Other West Africans- including Nigerians in - $DollarsNot Cedis-if you want to Study there,so why can't we do the same to maintain- Qualitative Research- Based and World Class -Education- as we see in USA, Europe, South Africa- for our Nation!
-We need to - Pump Money and let there be - Honest People- with Integrity- who can account for the Funds,Get Budget- every year- with Strong ethos.Of Course, let every MIDAS have Auditos,
from internal and External to allow Transparency in thei affairs and Publish their Accounts annually.
-But flexibilities should also be allowed,as things are changing in this Computer and Social Age,so that Foundations is not destroyed but can be Strong and Sustainable!
-Of course, you should know those( People- Enemies of Nigeria) who are not comfortable, but very Corrupt ( aka-' business as usua'l)
Politicians are there, some of us indulging in doing Evil are also there- to destroy the Plans of God for Nigeria- Security in Nigeria- should take care of them. For most of the Borders are Porous and so many Leakages- in our Oil Industry,Customs,Borders, etc.
-Laziness should not be an ideal in Nigeria but Govt should Provide Social -Security that can also come for the Support of Most Nigerians- on Monthly basis, like the American Government,if we are ready! This will make the Masses to have absolute Confidence in their Rulers!
Govt and Employers should pay their Workers well -to get the best of them- Not Slave Wages, since they have Families and Children!
Above all, we can make Nigeria Great,if we lay the Solid Foundations Today!
•Remember Nigeria Flag - Green,White Green- can be wanderful For All of Us and our Families,if we are Patriotic.Lets see and be ready to do things right and differently -with the right attitude-ie Nigeria First and Make Nigeria Great!
God bless Nigeria!
Olowo '
Note: President Tinubu should borrow this suggestion to build Nigeria !

Since the leaders can't sacrifice, no be the masses go sacrifice, let's sink the already dead ship, then we can all go back to the drawing board.

What of the self employed, u think once d presidemt says minimum wage is now 100k, their own income too will suddenly increase by 100k? Civil servants account for a small percentage of Nigerians, they alone cannot eat up our revenue

Even if they increase the minimum wage to N1 million, inflation will rise to render it valueless. A country full of obligate consumers with minimal production will suffer.
One would think that Agriculture will be a central point in university education to create local content. But Nigerian education system is still offering many courses in science and Humanities that have no real-life application in the country or continent. What is education?

Someone who studies Sociology, Geography, Botany, etc is automatically a heavy liability to his family and society at large.

exchange rate #800 naira to a dollar. minimum wage 30,000 monthly. 30k divided by 800 = $38 per month. Divided $38 by 30 days that's less than $1 per day. the world benchmark on poverty is earnings less than $2 a day. If tinubu wasn't a dunce and an economic fluke he would have know that more people would have been thrown into poverty by removing subsidy and floating the naira

For me,our problem is not about increasing salaries but price controls mechanism. There should be a way of controlling the indiscriminate prices of things by the Government as it is being done in developed countries. Once, Government do the rightful things prices will be controlled reasonably. A good example was when the BRT stuff started with reasonable fare like N70 or so for Short or half journey, the other Danfos were almost begging commuters to onboard them because the BRT fare was good. Government should do the needful, people are really surffering .

Don't mind them. If they understood the relationship between income, taxation and inflation, they wouldn't be advocating for such. Improving the standard of living, providing basic amenities like water, electricity, affordable housing and transportation can go a much longer way than just shooting up minimum wage from 30k to 100k overnight
