The Coach is Playing a 3-4-3 with Asllani and Rolfö both playing as the double 10's behind Stina. That's not her game, she's an out and out Wide player looking to beat her marker with pace and whip in a cross first time or arrive late at the back post to score.

She doesn't have the agility, creativity and spatial awareness to play behind a striker.

And Barcelona have really changed her game more and more, though she’s now defensively better but playing behind the strikers is something I don’t see her doing so well..

Yea I agree with u on this one the coach definitely got it wrong from the beginning. I think he wanted to take advantage of their size

Fun Fact: Nigeria is the tallest African Team in the competition....In fact they're among one of the tallest teams.

For reference, Sweden one of the tallest teams, have 12 players who are 5'8 and above, Nigeria also have 12 players who are 5'8 and above.

I think this would be one of, if not Nigeria's tallest team ever.

Their match winner is over 6ft.. SF needs to start making use of set pieces to convert their chances...

We have got some height advantage too, Ashleigh Plumptre, Osinachi Ohale, Ifeoma Onumonu, Asisat Oshoala, Uchenna Kanu who’s our best ball header right now, Oparanozie used to be deadly with her head scoring some of those dangerous header back then can’t say about now.

Can't remember the last time SF scored through a set piece.. The way they defended setpieces in the Canada game was commendable... I'd like to see it continue.. Buh we need to start converting those setpiece chances of our own...

Against Australia, They are certainly taller than us, especially that Alana KenNedY. Australia depends on Sam Kerr a lot and their Flank Play. Ajibade will be very helpful in this game as she can help defensively from the Flank. Onumonu did well too in tracking back.

One thing again is Uchenna Kanu and Esther Okoronkwo won’t really give you much of that defensive Contribution but going forward they’re deadly I see one of the reason Randy probably didn’t start them and Ordega had to start..

Nope, Amanda is 5'10.

But yeah, I agree with you, we gotta be aggressive attacking set pieces. we usually have good delivery from Toni, but poor set piece coordination. Other than Ashleigh, no one even attempts attacking set pieces. Oshoala usually hangs out in the back post just watching play unfold while doing nothing. Demehin just stands in the middle ball watching, Ohale tussles, but doesn't jump for the ball, Onumonu tries but doesn't jump either.

Australia isn't "Certainly Taller" than us. They're actually shorter overall. They have 7 Players who are 5'8 plus, while we have 12 Players who are 5'8 plus. The Australian team has a bunch of 5'3 and 5'4 players, Their CBs Kennedy and Hunt are 5'9, Clare is 5'7.

Our CBs are:
Onome, Ogbonna and Ohale - 5'9
Tosin- 5'8
Ashleigh - 5'11 1/2

We just don't make use of our height well.

Kanu, Oparanozie are deadly in the Air especially Kanu right now. Tony Payne deliveries have been okay and I think would get better as it goes.

Ohale do jump and almost all her goals she has scored for her Club are from header..

As for Oshoala she isn't that good with her head but do get goals with her head too. Can't write her off.

Wetin Saint Etienne see for African Players😂🤣😂

By the way Regina Out, Amanda Mbadi are quite Similar. Who do the Coach Play them overall cause Otu was their Defensive Midfielder through out last season, maybe they will push her to a more Central role or Box-2-Box midfield then Mbadi slot in as the DM or a regular Sub off the Bench..

Don't forget this Ivorian tall lady can also play DM and CB..

I checked each player from each team individually from their club profiles, google and FbRef, which was an arduous task.

The list released by Fifa is inaccurate... Example; Tosin is Listed as 5'6 ( Meanwhile she's way taller than Monday Gift who is also 5'6 ). Ashleigh is listed as 5'7 and She's taller than Nnadozie who is 5'11 😂😂😂

Here's the Fifa list link tho https://fdp.fifa.org/assetspublic/ce93/pdf/SquadLists-English.pdf

"Nigeria Internationals" 😂😂😭😭 Why not wait to see if they could secure moves to places like Scandinavian or Balkan countries... I understand that they maybe the breadwinners for their families, but aint no way they get paid more than $1,500/month in those countries and clubs they're rushing to.

Yeah between $1000 plus a month plus some little incentives like bonus..

This Balkan countries ain't that strong too but at least the little earning is quite important for them right now..Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria and Romania are far behind in the Womens game in Europe. The only thing moving them there is the little pay and life playing in Europe.

MacLean started from Belarus, down to Poland and now Russia..

I had to look at the SF squad for the World Cup and Gift Monday, Kanu and Toni Payne are all speedsters so it's Randy Waldrum's favoritism for Onumonu that's affecting the SF attack..

I hope Onumonu scores at least a goal because if Oparanozie had the opportunity she had on target I'm 96% sure she would have scored because she has powerful shots only problem is that I think she's slower than Onumonu.
Oparanozie would've scored that goal! How come no one is talking about the 1v1 shot Uchenna Kanu played straight at the goalkeeper?

They're both good in their own different aspects. Flourish Sabastine is a good dribbler, deft feet and mostly a clinical finisher while Opeyemi Ajakaye is a fast, pacy winger who's capable of running into spaces effortlessly and can outrun a defender that has even made a run before her lol... She has a problem with finishing tho. If she can rectify that problem, then we'll have an Asisat Oshoala Pro with a Kevin de Bruyne battery on our hands in the nearest future 👌🏾.

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 12:08pm On Jul 23, 2023
You guys need to tone down on the incessant call for Sebastien, Onyenezide and Ajakaye to be included in the Super Falcons. You don't know how ridiculous it's beginning to sound.

Due to our emotional attachments, we sometimes hype players beyond their current capabilities. Don't get me wrong I believe they have great potentials, but that doesn't necessarily translate into their present reality. Also, age grade competition doesn't mean you can now compete with pros.

Ajakaye for instance was highest goal scorer in the qualifiers in our Zone. When she got to the world stage, she had just one goal and one assist at the u17 level.

Flourish Sebastien is a great talent, but had just 1 goal and zero assist at the u20 level. Same Flourish didn't even start for Bayelsa United at the CAF women's Champion's league had zero goals and suddenly she's better than super falcons players? . Both Flourish and Ajakaye play in the NWFL. How many goals did they have last season? If we had a NWFL team of the season, will they even make the list?

We traditionally take players from the u17/u20 to join the Super falcons campaign to the world cup for many years. This year wasn't any different. We have 3 players from the 2022 u20 squad in the team and 2 of them started the last game. To show how good and improved they are, all of them are no longer in Nigeria. One is playing D1 college football in the US and the other 2 are pros in France.

Let's allow these girls to grow and support them while doing it. If I were Sebastian and Ajakaye, I'll take the Deborah Abiodun route. Get a D1 college team in the US and grow from there. Don't let us hurry these girls before their time. It's how Nwakali got hurried into the super eagles and he's been shut out since then. Let's allow them grow.
