Life survival skills

Anything you learn education wise outside the uk becomes almost irrelevant the moment you set your feet

Also you didn’t say the route you are coming with

Only the route you are coming to the uk with can save you in these perilous times .

Thank you.

Work.... I understand perfectly.

Be prepared to have 2 simultaneous jobs and be prepared for life / work lifestyle changes

I went as a student on a student visa.
During and after studies, kept applying for professional jobs.
They will call for interview,
They will say I am qualified. But they won't give. Because I was on student visa.
Technically, they could take me and do a work permit.
But they will not.
Meanwhile, I was working part time as customer service attendant.
As time went on, customer service work was going more and more.
Professional job people now started saying, "but you have spent 2, 3, 4 years doing customer service. How does that show experience for "xyz professional job?"
Visa ran out, and i had to return.
-
I have a cousin there who instead went and did "fake marriage and fake divorce" to white woman. He just paid money in court to fake the papers. He never met any woman.
That one gave him residence paper.
He's there now as citizen but the block head refused to even use that citizen to get professional job.
He's still doing security work.
Things affect the brain at times.
What about driving a truck, is it easy to get such job over there, because the way Nigerian dey hype everything even someone that haven't been there will tell you to learn this and that.

If you know that you are educated already here in Nigeria, just go and learn a skill,a physical skill and not all those online skills, get a physical skill like carpentry, plumbing, painting, welding, furniture fittings, masonry, driving of trucks, tractor's, caterpillars, tankers etc, because those are the skills that would give you immediate employment before you start hustling for office jobs.

Where in Ibadan can one learn how to drive haulage trucks ?

I don't have a plug but according to my findings, Ibadan is where you can see enough drivers to teach you practical in a short period of time (provided you're paying them), and know how to drive quick. Ask around it will really pay off. And make sure you have all documents to prove that you can drive trucks before leaving Nigeria. It will cost you enough money o but you'll enjoy it later. Truckers earn very good pay, far well above average income in the Western world. Ire o

Congratulations on your upcoming relocation! Preparing in advance to improve your skills and increase your earning potential is a great idea. Here are some skills you can start working on this month to set yourself up for success in the UK:

Language Skills: If English is not your first language, improving your English proficiency will be incredibly beneficial in the UK job market. You can enroll in language courses, practice with language exchange partners, or use language learning apps.

Digital Skills: Developing digital skills can open up a wide range of job opportunities. Consider learning skills such as data analysis, digital marketing, social media management, or basic coding. There are many online platforms and courses that offer these skills.

Certifications and Qualifications: Research the specific industries or sectors you are interested in and find out what certifications or qualifications are in demand. Acquiring relevant certifications can make you stand out from other job applicants.

Soft Skills: Employers in the UK value soft skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability. Work on improving your interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.

Networking Skills: Building professional connections is crucial in the job market. Start networking early by attending industry events, joining online professional groups, and connecting with people in your target field.

Industry Knowledge: Research the industries that are thriving in the UK and gain knowledge about their trends, challenges, and opportunities. Staying informed will give you an edge during job interviews.

Financial Literacy: Understanding personal finance and budgeting will help you manage your money effectively when you move to the UK. There are plenty of online resources and courses available to enhance your financial literacy.

Adaptability and Cultural Awareness: Being aware of cultural differences and being adaptable to new environments will make your transition smoother.

Remote Work Skills: Due to the pandemic, remote work has become more common in garage flooring phoenix. Familiarize yourself with remote work tools, time management, and effective communication in a virtual work setting.

Resume and Interview Skills: Polish your resume to highlight your skills and experiences, and practice interview techniques to present yourself confidently to potential employers.

Remember that improving yourself is a continuous journey, and starting early will give you a head start in the UK job market. Set achievable goals, create a study schedule, and stay committed to your skill development plan. Best of luck with your relocation and your pursuit of personal and professional growth!

smiley If you really want to learn a usable and paying skill in the shot time before you leave, Go to Ibadan to use money to learn haulage truck driving or fork lift or other construction trucks (your time isn't enough for this). You can also learn plumbing and be proficient in 4 months if you know what you're doing. But make sure you have trade test for any skill you learn o. You can't be too prepared to go to UK because it's no child's play in the UK if you want to make sufficient legit money.

How can one get the trade test certificate... Say for instance, i learnt haulage truck driving in one baba hand in Ibadan.

I am so glad that you have made this choice. Please be assured that you will have no regrets if you choose to be disciplined and focus when you get to U. K.

I will give you some valid options as follows:

1. If you are hands-on for culinary skills, learn how to make finger bites such as Suya, puff-puff, grilled chicken etc. You can handle Nigerian parties/social gatherings in U.K. and I can assure you will not meet up with demand. I presently even queue for a little item like meat pie and puff-puff at a Nigerian restaurant called Tastee. Interestingly, they always sell out.

2. If you can learn hair styling (braids etc), you will make unimaginable cash. It is mostly done in your house for cash and the waiting list for most of the stylists I know. Nigerian women over here celebrate paying £80 for a one hour process.

3. Learn Project Management or Cybersecurity. You can commence by getting the requisite skills at Training institutes in Nigeria. When you get to the U. K., embark on the training in places like Tritech, stl-training etc. They will train you with live projects and provide U.K. work experience and work references for your C.V. Through this approach, you can possibly attract salaries in the range of £200 to £250 per day

Baba are you talking about this ??
